The 2023 Toyota Venza is a mid-size SUV that, while often overlooked by consumers, offers significant advantages such as impressive fuel economy and a luxurious interior. This second-generation Venza, which re-entered the market in 2021 after a six-year hiatus, represents a substantial improvement over its predecessor, which was criticized for its odd minivan/wagon hybrid design, poor fuel economy, and subpar interior quality. The latest Venza, however, has shed these drawbacks, boasting an attractive design that could even be mistaken for a Lexus.

4 months with my Limited Venza. I could not find a NX or RX hybrids so I settled on this. I tried a RAV and felt cheap compared to Venza also does not drive as smooth.
Passport and Jeep are not even comparable they are in a different class. They are much bigger and have better off road and towing capabilities. CRV would be a competitor.
I love all the luxury features in my limited and it was $15k cheaper then the Lexus NX that has the same features. It’s a great car to get you from point A to point B at 44mpg. You can take the groceries, the dog, a guest or two.. but it’s not a camping SUV. It is also not an enjoyable drive like a luxury car, but works for my small family. I find the best feature is the 360 camera, and would not buy another car without it.

As a 2023 Venza Limited owner I disagree on 50% of statements that this guy makes. I had a chance to drive a 2023 Honda CRV (non hybrid) for 9 month and 15,000km before we traded it for Venza. And I have to say that Venza is almost a perfect vehicle that I am ready to keep for 10+ years. eCVT has nothing to do with conventional CVT transmission. In my opinion they need to name it differently since it has no belt and no moving cones but instead there is an electrical motor that synchronizes speeds of engine with gear assembly that is a bullet proved. It has an instant torque that CRV was lacking and the drive is extra smooth! It does feel like Lexus if compared to RAV4.

    • @Rissybear
      @Rissybear 11 місяців тому +5

Absolutely agree! 2023 limited here too. The comparison to passport and jeep didn’t make any sense to me. The CRV would be the one to compare it. Thanks for the info on the difference of the eCVT and CVT

If this is based on the Rav4 platform then the Venza is a compact crossover suv so comparing it those other vehicles mentioned when talking about cargo space is not comparing it apples to apples.

Great review. The mileage, appearance, and comfort ride elements are far more important to me than the cargo space. Wish the sunroof would open. I would rather it do that than have the clear or opaque option. Also wish there were more buttons for controlling various things, rather than a control screen that does not give the touch feedback that buttons do. I have also heard that control screen is a dust and fingerprint magnet. So, not perfect, but overall a car I will be considering.

Leased the ‘23 Limited yesterday. Haven’t had a chance yet to drive it around, but I got it for all of the reasons you listed. As a single woman over 65, the relative lack of cargo space doesn’t bother me at all. Plenty of room for my road trip travel luggage plus room for a companion’s if needed. Love the look and the interior amenities, which give it that luxurious edge. It all that I need and a lot of what I want, too.
If I change my mind after driving it for awhile, I’ll let you know ….😊
P.S. The Honda Passport would have been my second choice.

The venas low cargo numbers bothered me at first, but the space is still adequate. The lost space is much because of the rear slope downward. If you’re not stacking stuff up too high, the square footage turns out to give it decent space.

I have a Rav hybrid and even a bit less cargo would not concern me because how often to you actually stack items that would impede vision? I'm more concerned about the lack of buttons vs the piano plastic on the info center. Also seems strange not rated for towing when it and Rav share the same power plant. The rav hybrid can handle 1750 (not much) but a small trailer.

Thank you for this video... a really well done job. We own a 2021 RAV4 Hybrid Ltd, so I know that SUV really well. The VENZA in our opinion is the Toyota version of the Lexus NX300 Hybrid. Or perhaps you could possibly consider the VENZA as a CAMRY Hybrid SUV? The VENZA is quite beautiful in our opinion, Wife likes the folding side mirrors for garage entry and exit. She also like the less aggressive looking front of the VENZA vs the Lexus' overdone front grille. Interior is very plush on the Venza Limited. We have decided to order a LIMITED Venza so the wait for this in our color/interior combos begins. The Venza is built and assembled in Aichi, Japan Toyota plant. So therefore transit time to the USA/Canada is longer. You did a great job on this Venza Review. BTW, is Toyota calling the VENZA something else in Europe/Japan markets? I bet they are.... thanks. I'm looking to purchase a new 2023 Venza Limited for my wife, as she has fallen in love with this car. I only hope I can get it optioned without the glitzy stargazer roof. She'd prefer a traditional opening sunroof. She wants the gray color with black interior. Are the lead times very long?

I put my name on the list three months ago and was told 8 months to a year. Toyota has upped their production of the Venza lately and mine will be at the dealership in a month. So I was lucky and it only took 4 months. You can tell them what you would like but you basically get what you get. My salesman said I was lucky to get what I wanted. XLE in titanium glow with a boulder interior. The black interiors are easier to find. Good luck with your car search.

  • @s.patterson5698

I like the Venza but there is no beige option interior which I have always gotten in my vehicles. It just gives a more upscale appearance. Black interior is a no for me. The grey, maybe one day, but it just doesn't look as good as beige. In January I was actually looking at the Venza as my first SUV, but ended up with the MDX which gave me a Parchment interior color. I personally think the Venza is a good looking vehicle. The back, with those tailights, is superior looking. My wife actually was going to get the RDX but I hated the back lights so I literally spent $20,000 more to get her the MDX. If the RDX had a rear look like the Venza, I would have gotten that. But I totally like the Venza. It was just the lack of interior color option and I am not going to spend $40,000.00 on a vehicle and live with the feeling I had to settle. So other than the interior color I could definitely see myself with a Venza.

I think one thing when you start comparing to atlas and other cars in it's class. If you live in the city this car does not feel like its in the same size class. Compared to the passport it's half a foot narrower. I have a narrow garage space and that disqualifies a large number of SUVs

Wow what a comfortable ride and gas mileage for All Wheel drive it’s Hybrid and because of this design I don’t think I will go back to Honda again. And storage in the back is plenty for 4 of us we just come from trip. Dont even think twice. Try it! I don’t want to drive my family vehicles anymore this car had everything I’m looking for. My wife has it. But would trade up to a Highlander Hybrid in a hearbeat, regretting not going that way, the first place. Many of the design elements are good. However I would say people that design the interior are just novices: ex. there’s no room for larger mobile phones let alone, one phone. And the charging is buried way in the back in the very impractical console where every crumb ends up in the sides.
    It’s just a stupid layout.
Same issue with the infotainment system.
You can call it intuitive but when you drive BMW I drive: compare that even from 10 years ago, you realize how far behind Toyota is especially in wireless CarPlay.
Ps. Push button volume control is idiotic.

Why are reviewers talking about sportiness of SUVs? This is super silly.
SUV's are purchased for comfort and functionality. Sportiness is the last thing customers of SUVs care about.
Though, the reviewer puts sportiness at the first place.

Why did Toyota and reviewers position this as a “MIDSIZE” suv? It was never able to compete in that category. This is definitely a compact suv in the category with Mazda CX5, Sportage (which is bigger), the Rogue and CR-v. I guess Toyota did not want to cannibalize neither the NX 350 or RAV4 sales.

CR-V is much bigger inside for cargo, but it's more expensive and has very uncomfortable seats.

CRV hybrid might not have port injection. Thus inviting carbon fouling of intake track and backs of the intake valves.

Toyota didn't give the Venza a fair chance in the market. There almost none available in our area and now they want to cancel it after 2024.

    We have a 2012 Venza AWD V-6.
It is a perfect car. If we could get a new one just like it, we’d snap it up.
The new one is only a hybrid and is too small and too slow.

It’s not slow I come from V6 engine world all my cars was V6 and I can’t see the difference. Plus Saving so much gas with this car and so quite too compare to older models

The problem is this vehicle isn't pushed enough by Toyota! And it's in a awkward space between a RAV4 and a NX!

I took 2023 Venza for the ride, I got very disappointed, expensive and sort of boring so I decided for used 2015 Venza, 1/4 of the price, well 95K on the odometer but I still enjoy it more then the new Venza with only 10 miles driven. Both have poor visibility but the new one seems to be even worse. Fuel economy it’s not important to me as I don’t drive a lot but it’s probably the only thing the new Venza has an advantage over the old one. And the 2015 can tow, not to much but it can contrary to the 2023 model.

Definitely a forgotten SUV! It is really beautiful with great fuel economy! Too bad Toyota has decided to discontinue it after the 2024 model year and will replace it with the new Crown Signia at a much higher price point.

As a vehicle, The Venza found itself in the twilight zone between the Toyota Highlander and The Lexus lineup. It was bound to fail, there is really no market because on one hand it’s too nice and on the other, it’s not nice enough.

I LOVED the Venza and was wanting to buy a Limited but again I refuse to buy another vehicle with 34 year old depressing old dated gloomy Gray or Coffin Black interior colors, that became popular in 1990.

The real issues in all the brands and models post covid is the complete meltdown of the so called safety features aka electronics in these vehicles. All the car companies are acting like they're Tesla smart but have no idea how to build a computer on wheels. Check out any brand owners forum and there's nothing but horror stories. All these computer chips that tells me i can't cross the white line on a baron road, that thinks I'm too stupid to check my mirrors or cant see whats in front of me. Then the app you're connected to will tell your insurance company you're not playing by the rules so tour rates go uo and your credit score goes down. Its coming to a reality near you soon. If u think im kidding just look at China.

Thanks for the nice review... I like a lot about this Venza, but I would never buy one. And that is a shame because this is a nice vehicle. I am 6' 2" with a semi long torso. I sat in a Venza, and I was shocked at how bad the outward visibility was when you try to look out and look around. Good visibility is so important for safe driving - and just driving enjoyment in general.. I felt like I was in a very low ceiling cave. The A-pillars also are too laid back which further hurts visibility. If only Toyota would have raised the roof about 3 or 4 inches - and made it more boxy. This would have fixed the problem and made this a very nice vehicle. Unfortunately Toyota blew this one.. For anyone that wants to buy one - visibility is so bad that I really worry about safety. Auto accidents are expensive and can be terrible for your health. I would make sure you have good auto insurance and good health insurance if you are determined to buy one of these.

I agree. It felt a bit cramped, but not bc of the actual interior space but more due to the high seat position. At least for me. Even when I lowered it to the lowest I could see the speedometer well. It's made well though! I just think it might bug me after a while
