This is an awesome video, I've been thinking about this stuff for ages and great to see someone confirm it for me!! I'm going for psychedelic blues and chord melody style finger style. Nothing else. so basically truly TRULY masting pentatonics and ignoring everything else. I've been thinking about this for ages 80/20 philosophy on guitar. This is a good video glad someone could explain what I've been thinking about. PS I'm gonna bring the jag-stang into you soon.

Wow Wayne that's very good advice, and something I've been wrestling with for the last 10 years or so. You put things together in a way that gave definition as words to some of my subconscious rambling, and ,basically, I'll always be that one who is so overly emotional(even idealistic) in my playing that I can't possibly get my mind to move anywhere as promptly as my hands and heart! Recently I've been doing as you suggested,( just to know a landing place that's in the chord at least, and trying to land it on the right rhythmic phrase is the next few years, until it's all pretty subconscious, and I can finally relax and concentrate on how I play, rather than what I play. If I run out of time, there's always another lifetime to start, because for years I've tried to direct or control what I play , but never can do that and play at the same time....yet, so by the time I'm 87 I should be cracking it. Thanks for posting, I just stumbled on your channel tonight, and it's good to see another Kiwi out there (and playing nicely)
