    Fun fact...Henry won a grammy that year, but not for this tune but rather his audio book. apparently soundgarden won the music category and Chris Cornell during his acceptance said it belonged to Rollins Band. Award or not, they get the MVP for this one..Most Valuable Performance hehe..fierce af

    This is f'n awesome. I have loved Henry Rollins since I was in my early 20s. I'm 48 and I still think he kicks ass. He is one of the most intelligent, well spoken human beings on the planet.

    I remember seeing this live when I was 9 years old with absolutely no idea who he was or his legacy and just cracking up at the shoeless guy screaming. Gotta love Henry!

    I remember Rollins speaking about this during his spoken word tour in 1995. He spoke about the look of disgust on Peter Gabriel's face during this performance. Henry said that he always liked him before that performance, but that after this he didn't think that Gabriel was "as fucking cool."

      muchomusiclibre well, it was the 90s, the mainstream suddenly basically became interested with the underground just to be cool and to find the next big thing. A time where even a Death Metal band can join a major label (Morbid Angel was in Giant Records, which also had Chicago, Kenny Rogers, Oingo Boingo and Mc freaking Hammer, im not kidding)

      Yeah just listened to that episode last night. I had totally forgotten about the band performing this on the Grammys and Rollins winning the Grammy for the audio book for Get in the Van. It seems almost surreal to look at it now. It was also interesting to learn from the podcast that 'liar' started out as a joke song for the band. I had no idea about the legal trouble Rollins had to endure during this period either.

    This was the Grammys back in 1994. Henry Rollins performed here with Rollins Band, but he actually won a Grammy that year for his Spoken Word audiobook "Get in the Van'

    Saw him with his band once at a smokey club in SJ....my mind is still blown. He grabbed this one hippy dude from the hair and just kept singing ....classic Rollins.

    agree! rollins band was one of my first gen admission concerts. there was quite a groundswell when he came onstage. ever see him do spoken word? must see for fans!

    I was there. Rollins band destroyed. All these pop music industry elites in tuxedos, mouths agape, faces melting. Shocked expressions like "what the hell is going on?! Put lip-syncong TLC back on stage!" It was awesome and hilarious.
