Great review as usual! I'm looking to make night timelapses in 4k resolution. I've seen the Insta 360 One RS 360 can do starlapses. I'm wondering what effective resolution you are left with once cropping/reframing to a nice composition? I've heard you say it's around 1080p only? Should I assume the same goes for stills taken as part of a timelapse? Cheers!
had been testing this cam for last 2 weeks. Night image quality are definitely better than oneX2. wonder if freewell will consider making a ND filter for this cam? the built-in audio totally useless. agreed with u, the down side is the need to tear down the entire cam to get to the SD card. I managed to work around by using a transfer cable to computer. also this cam heats up very fast especially in 6k video mode ~ at 40mins+, I would need to plug in power bank.

Is it possible to take a still photo while recording a video or do you need to stop recording to take a photograph?
I think rather than adding the audio mount and buying a new wireless mic, I’ll just use a Zoom F1 and sync in post with camera audio. I had overheating/battery swelling issue on our original One X with a 15 minute clip.

Could you vlog with it? My use scenario would be to vlog with it, then mount it in or on the car for 360 shots. Obviously, for some spirited driving. So will this being any value to a vlog? I'm in the UK where it gets dark at 4 pm in the winter so, all that low light might may come in handy?
Absolutely, vloging is so easy with these cameras. As said in the video, low light is the Achilles heel of these cameras. So outdoor sunny good to go
can't you use usb port to copy your videos? Why you take sd card so often?

Not to sure why everyone goes on about waterproof. The lens refraction is affected so doesn't work properly anyway without special lens covers underwater. As long as rain is okay, i.e. mounted on a bike, boat or car where it may get wet i do think this is adequate.
can this take the one r battery ?
The image quality is more than good enough. When it comes to audio, I'm wondering if it's possible to sync in Insta's software? Many of us can get quality audio files and might prefer to use equipment they already have. Having to sync isn't a deal-breaker for me.
I’d just sync from my existing audio products. Easy in post.

I just got this camera and have been having some stitching artifacts. (Much more noticeable in the Pureshot photos but also present in videos). Do you see these issues in your unit?
There have been some moments where the stitch line isn't perfect, but I haven't seen artifacts on mine.
@@ArthurR I see. I can't tell if my expectation for stitching is too high, or if I got a bad unit. This is already my second one so maybe this is just how the camera is.

Is this much better than the new X3
360 just hasn't caught on yet. I bought one after I sold the Insta 360 one X2. I have to admit the image is soo much better.
If course I'd like to try the 1 inch 360 camera, but as it is the $650 to upgrade my R One is above and beyond my budget.
How does this compare to the new X3? I really can’t tell the difference 😭
well this one has a bigger sensor then the X3... a buddy of mine took this out and did milky way long expo and it came out pretty nice...

Both 360 cameras are great. This new one just offers a touch more image quality and low light performance, which is bound to open up some new opportunities to film in darker situations.

Why why why do people want to add a mic adaptor is beyond me. No camera will soind good when held away from you.
Don't need a rode go 2 or a mount, just buy a voice recorder and a lavier mic, mic yourself and place the recorder in your pocket. Sync in post, heaps cheaper, better quality sound and a lighter camera. I very rarely use a in camera recordong for voice.

@@celinadawn7404 I haven't decided, but the X2 is so much more value/£. The big upgrade on the 1 inch is that there's less noise in the dark.

This camera with its "big" sensors burns highlights like no other 360 camera and turns any footage that involves things like the sky or any kind of or any kind of a bright subject, into absolutely unwatchable stuff! I cannot understand how the dynamic range of this camera is so abysmal yet seemingly no one cares about it. And this is just the start, because by the time, yet again, that you reframe and crop the footage, you are barely looking at 720P garbage. We are stuck in this mediocre image quality for half a decade already worth of 4K/5.7K/"6K" nonsense in all consumer grade 360 cameras, and nothing has changed.
I feel your frustration and completely agree about the highlights, but couldn't that be handled with exposure comp? Related to that, this camera doesn't yet have the HDR capability that the X3 has although one speculated it will arrive later in a firmware update. Additionally, it doesn't have the ability to shoot from just one camera like the X3 which can provide a pure 4k, 2D output. Only about 40% of the reviews that I've seen mention the output resolution after reframing but I've never seen it mentioned being as low as 720p; 1440p was the best with 1080p being lowest. I personally could live with 1440p because it provides a much better quality than 1080 while being just a little short of 4k and having smaller files.
Very bad sound
It's a piece of junk! I've had so many issues with mine it's insane! mounting this thing is a nightmare, insta360 does not have mounts for this camera..
I've had a ton of problems with exposure as one is light the other one is dark... when editing you have a darker image with the lighter one. (no fix)
When it work image quality is on par with my gopro max... ive got 1200$ cad in this camera and I will never buy an insta 360 product again as their aftersales service is total BS.
Useless. You did not buy this thing and yet you are reviewing. Please don’t buy anything from insta360. They are costly and cheap etc. they say Lyca, horrible camera.
