  • Imagine if you sliced up the lamb and threw it all on a soft warm pita bread with the potatoes and yogurt....add on some marinated cabbage salad....pickled peppers...feta cheese...best gyro ever.

    3-4 lamb porterhouse
    2 cloves garlic
    1 bunch rosemary
    1 bunch thyme
    2 tbsp butter
    1 cup whole yogurt
    1 tsp lemon zest
    1 tbsp sumac
    2 tbsp vadouvan curry
    2-3 large russet potatoes
    3-4 cups Oil for frying
    2 tbsp chopped parsley (garnish)

    SO glad to see more Americans enjoying lamb, it's a staple here in Australia - but I envy that cut, we don't seem to get porterhouse as a standard over here

      Lamb Porterhouse Chops are also known as lamb loin chops. These bone-in chops consist of the top loin and tenderloin just like the beef porterhouse steak, if you explain to your aussie local butcher what you want , they will be more then happy to do it , just don't worry about the supermarket pre packed , its a waste of meat.

    How do you cook such a thick piece of meat just using a pan ?

      It actually not that thick to be honest. Only 1.5 inches or so… 12-15 minutes on the stove with some good basting will yield consistent results with this cut.
