Sal, thank you for your honest opinion and informative review. It was refreshing to see and hear that you weren't pushing the more expensive light for youtube ratings or followers. Most beginning to intermediate photogs can not afford to purchase every "latest" gear being pushed by sponsored photographers! You just totally debunked the higher the cost, the better the product! Continue to educate!!!! Kudos!
Nanlite it's really great, I've been using the FS line since 2021, I got one fs300 and three fs150, not the B version, but with some Rosco gels I can modify the colours and temperature. I use the Amaran too, some friends bought them, and work with the brands together witout a problem! Greetings from Uruguay, great video!
Thank you so much for the comparison! Fun fact: I was unsure if I should choose the Amaran 200 or the Nanlite FS 300B. A dumb question: did you shoot with the flash of the camera or without? letting the Nanlite replace the flash?
ummm... yes and no. have you ever looked at raw video with no LUT applied? same for raw images - they are intentionally flat. i get what you are saying... but i dont know thats a true representation of the light.
@@SalCincotta1 Maybe "true representation" is controversial,... but everyone edits differently and to different degrees. Hard to focus just on the light effect when the editing can mask/cover/reveal/enhance/generate This isn't a critique of your video... just something I wish for.

I agree that the Nanlite looks like a better deal. I think I’m going to buy one.

1st comment from Bangladesh 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
haha yes. welcome to the channel!
Also the amaran can't be used with the spotlight. Very limiting in my opinion, better to go with 300c if opting for amaran.
Well done
ty ty!!
the nanlite clearly is a better quality unit for the price
agreed.
😊😂
Nice. I wish you'd show the images SOOC and not edited, though. That is the true understanding of the lighting.

@@stephenransomphotography4077 no no. i get it. and thank you. im just trying to figure out how to do something like that. moving forward.
Hard to watch this video editing.
The Nanlite is $500+ in the UK 🥲
Same in Greece. The Amaran is the cheaper choice here. Makes no sense. The prices are reversed in Europe.
@ I just managed to find one for £280 on this website called photospecialist but the reviews aren’t great so wish me luck! 😅
