Thanks, I love this informative content a lot. Maybe a small addition would be to name the current format or add a Date like 10/2024 in the title. That way, once you make a new list on this, or people find the video later, it's easier to understand the temporal relation. @@liloldman5998 yeah, when I see the words "1 year ago" I totally know that it's referring to October and not September It's not precise and you're being needlessly obtuse
I love thrust right now. Crazy side card, gets so much value if your opponent is on fire king SE since Ponix mandatory effect will always make it live.
I absolutely do love using Cosmic Cyclone in this format. So many of the top decks abuse backrow cards and cards that give them almost infinite recurrsion so by outright removing them solves a huge problem in the current game. Plus if you wait for some cards like Sangan Summoning search effect and chain it they cant activate another one to try to search again since the effect already resolved with no benefits.

I don't know why but the "Joshua Schmidt - Duelist" thumbnail made me laugh Phantazmay got done dirty. There is very little reason to play that card, even when the meta favours him, because the Mulcharmies basically do its job Shaggy, Commenter.
couple of questions for chat I know josh said you shouldn't (but hey what did you expect) but what would you play (main or side) with only 6 non engine spaces (aka a runic combo deck, yes)? I was thinking to main ash as a catch all to weaken end boards a little bit (runick fur hire spright can play a lot under interruptions most of the times); also gives an out to charmies and it's good to draw from fountain. Then I'm debating Nib or a board breaker or talents. He explained that ruler and evenly are not that good alone but maybe evenly is, considering that runick spells can bait out the negates during battle phase. Nib is good in the variant as we care about different typed monsters on our board but I couldn't rely on pairing it as well as I could rely on pairing evenly. Thing is evenly is pretty much dead after the first rotation while nib is not completely. Maybe it's not enough. The other opinion is 2 talents and called by for flexibility but it's not a real breaker going second so idk. Plus I've not had good experiences with talents in general so idk if I should push it and try further. 2nd question: why thrust? like, if I sided 3 d barrier instead of 2 thrust and 1 d barrier wouldn't it be the same? What's the upside? Flexibility by going into imperm? Help me picture it Thanks to anyone who bothers :)
For the second question, the simple answer is Thrust allows you to play multiple hate targets, so 2 Thrusts + 1 DBarrier and 1 DDGround is pretty much the same as 3 DBarriers + 3 DDGrounds, so it free 2 slots for extra side cards. Even if you are planning on playing a single hate target (for example DBarrier), there are many tiny bits that make Thrust better than just straight up play 3 copy DBarrier. - Hard drawing multiple DBarriers is awful, hard drawing Thrust and DBarrier less so - yes the chance is not that high, so it sucks more when it happen (Driver on hand phenomena). - Drawing Thrust on your second turn going first is not half bad, drawing DBarrier is - Thrust may help you finish the game right at that turn rather than another risky second turn for your opponent. - Side Thrust in if you know you gonna go second is still pretty good, the same is not true for DBarrier. That means you have more versatility for your side deck.
so I could side 2 thrust + 1 d barrier per se, and be better off than 3 d barrier wouldn't I need another non engine piece? because if I drew d barrier and thrust, got handtrapped, I would need a second spell/trap to place that isn't d barrier so if I go first I would need to put in thrust, db and like ddg to not have a dead thrust if I draw the one of if I go second I would need thrust, tactics and like a drnm for the same reason probably it's not that good in runicks because of low non engine counts and absence of other normal spells/traps in engine thanks for the answer, I think I get the general principle
@@gmz904 Thrust does have some plan B like Imperm and Dominus (some strategy play in-archetype trap too, like the Unchained one), so usually it is not too bad to hard draw your main target. For going second most strategy have powerful normal spell that they want to get hold of, but it is true that Runick is an outlier to this, so it's okay to go for more suitable options.
Metaltronus is basically mandatory in Gimmick Puppets and Eclipse (like you said) is pretty much ONLY worth playing in Ritual Beast. Dogwoof I'd say side deck just in case you come across Gimmick Puppet cuz the deck is still pretty solid. Also busted vs the very niche Six Sam FTK. Speaking of, been trying to think what non engine to run in Ritual Beast and this video came out perfectly on time. Don't own either Mulcharmy or Dominus card cuz the prices are nuts so thinking on which handtraps to run (was considering using DRNM and the Ritual Beast dolphin whose name I forgot to crack boards but that's useless vs Fire King and niche elsewhere). Currently thinking I'll main Shifter, Eclipse, Ash, Imperm, and maybe Droll or a Thrust package. Not sure on what I'll side yet though.
Now that u played centurion and that u placed droll in A tier, what do u think of it in this deck in particular in the main? The deck wants to block the opponent asap when going second, is it a strong solution ?
I totally can vouch on Cosmic Cyclone right now. I understand the risk of maining it at the moment, however if you know your environment will be with the more popular decks (snake, fire king, yubel, tenpai) then maining it isnt that farfetch’d. Against the lesser popular decks (examples: voiceless, labrynth, millenium/exodia, centur-ion just to name a couple) cosmic is alright also. I mained it at my regionals and I found an edge using it on 4 rounds. When Crossover Breakers format begins I can see it not as valuable in the main deck, but at the moment I think its fine. There is also the debate on what deck you actually playing and if its engine can handle some disruptions because there arent that many, but thats another can of worms altogether.
Maybe im just bad with handtraps but seeing a full yubel or SE/azamina board, pulling out dark dark ruler feels really good. Obviously, you need the removal to deal with those mons, but negating everything is such an advantage
Kaijus might be decent next formet, I think. If your opponent ends on Deadnader + Fieldspell + Hole Thruster, one Kaiju takes care of all of that. ALso takes care of Terahertz, so it prevents your opponent from negating your stuff with Desavewurm.
Hey Josh, what's your oppinion on The Black Goat Laughs as the thrust target instead of Dimensional Barrier? Unlike Dimensional, Black goat has no dead matchups and is better against snake-eye decks most of the time imo
It's significantly less good than d barrier into tenpai tho. You either call chundra or bident. Chundra they can still summon it from gy with fadra by discarding it with field spell, and bident isnt completely necessary to otk
Not really like a handtrap or board breaker but i play branded and was wondering if i should do the zombie world package with it in the side or if its not worth it?
Monster reborn i use in white forest azamina. Use it then add it back to hand from the on summon effect of Diabell queen of the white forest then use it again.
Something you missed with magical spring is that the card is actually even not that good against centur-ion. The monsters in the s/t zone might be treated as traps, however magical spring only lets you draw cards for each spell/trap CARD. Since the centur-ions in S/T zone still are monster CARDS you dont get to draw cards for them. The card would've had to be worded that you draw for each spell/trap instead of spell/trap card
You said if ur deck can play Shifter, you should play it. Would this apply if my board gets weaker under Shifter too? I mean, yes its good against the fire meta decks and Yubel, but Tenpai doesn't care.
Cosmic going second is very viable, you can still target FKI, Stand up Centurion, Fountain, Desirae's equip etc... and force interaction from your opponent. Unending nightmare going second is just a dead card.
winter cherry is specifically a good card for azamina, because you can interrupt someone else's Hallowed Azamina, which probably took them a ton of work to get, and resources to activate. As a mirror match option, its really good against a very common deck you'll face- and to side in when you know you're going second
