Awesome 🤗
Sega pretty much lost all their talent. That's why they depend on fan-made games. While Nintendo and others still have their talent working with them.
Funny thing is Sega released a beatem up called Spikeout on the original Xbox, but no Streets of Rage, thank God for Dotemu with release of Streets of Rage 4, my only complaint is l would have liked to have seen an adult Skate rocking some dreads with a skateboard fighting style. That would have really put Streets of Rage 4 over the top. If I was a developer on that team, I would have petetioned for a more modern Skate. That would have brought everything more to a full circle. Now the fans need a Final Fight 4.
@@G.L.999 Nintendrones are the most rotten and dumbest fanbase ever known. And for the récord I apologize in advance for the upcoming Illumination-produced Super Mario movie since is directed by the same asstarded moronic a*holes behind Teen titans Go. Not even such a moronic fanbase such as yours deserves such wreck of a movie.
Wow I never heard of this add on!
Yuzo Koshiro just tweeted this video out commenting on its content and how accurate it is!! Great stuff Lady Decade 👏
Their is a fan made game called streets of rage remake, it's really great! It combines all 3 games plus a lot of playable characters too.
It's the best one so far in my opinion. The music is done so well with a lot of content
I didn't even know that about Die Hard for the Saturn. That was one of my favorite games.
It's also on the PS2 as part of the Sega Ages line. Also alvaible on the japanese PSN.
I remember playing streets of rage and just getting absolutely mauled by Yasha and Onihime regularly haha
I played Fighting Force 2 on the PSX and the moment I saw the 3d footage, I knew where this was going. That's really cool to learn, and even though Fighting Force 2 wasn't very good, as a kid I thought it was pretty decent.
Its funny as before Virtua Fighter us lads had the 3d version of Streets of Rage usually found at local places like Millwall's Den (my lot) or Wet Spam's poncey palace and we had happy days beating the caramel out of the other side then once out the nick down the park with a couple bottles of Thunderbird or cheap cider and celebrated our war wounds. Then the powers that be decided I was just too naughty to be out on the streets so sent me to a special place with the nice metal rod curtains and exclusive jewellery in the form of a special set o' bracelets and plenty of opportunity to use one's nads or stomach to polish one of the staff's Doc Martens.
The Mighty BULLY MAGUIRE likes your channel 😊
When I mentioned how much I wanted a Sega Saturn to the old lady at the bank and she said "I have one of those tucked away in a drawer somewhere along with games and controllers. You want it?"
So I ask "how much?" She says "I'll just give it to you. Who would pay for something so old or even play it for that matter?"
-Me
Sobs in loser.
Jokes on her. Any game worth a damn is like 50 bucks at a bare minimum.
How did the conversation of a Saturn get brought up in a bank?
U lucky git
@@mikeg2491 That's how we roll at my bank. We talk about all kinds of stuff from Sega Saturn to Eternal Champions and everything in between.
It was shortly after this Hollywood woke up and had his cornflakes......😀
This channel seems to suddenly popped out of no where but the vast amount of untouched and brand new content is amazing, great job and work!
I started watching her because of top hat gaming man. But if I’m being honest I think I’m starting to enjoy Lady Decades videos more than top hat gaming man 😅
The people who made Streets of Rage 4 should do Comix Zone.
I'm hoping for Golden Axe from them!
Oh man, I remember Fighting Force! Found it in a bargain bin for $4.99 brand new back in the day. I was hoping I could revive those glory days of Double Dragon and Final Fight. Though I found the game to be somewhat fine, it just lacked that impact that 2D beat'm ups had. I feel it was just too early for a 3D game of this type. They just look too goofy and feel very sluggish.
There is an independent release from *Fluid Games* called *The Rage* that was made early 2000s.
It is a 3D tribute to Final Fight & Streets of Rage and slightly better than Fighting Force.
The team that did SOR4 should tackle Golden Axe next .
It seems they're making a new TMNT game now. It'd be great to have a new Golden Axe installment of the same quality as SOR4 .
I still play all my favourite 2d retro games to this day on my jailbroken ps3 using retroarch software. Streets of rage series is my most favourite beat em up games.
Whilst highly informative, I love the little interjects of humour peeking out here & there throughout videos.
Makes for a highly enjoyable experience every time. As usual sterling work Ma'am.
Good thing they removed the license on fighting force - it looks terrible by modern standards yet SOR still holds up.
A game don't need to be in 3D to be a good game, there's a lot of 2D games out there who show that.
If a game is in 3D it changes its gameplay changing the game itself.
For me Streets of Rage could be all in 2D that I don't care
I agree with you. look at SOR4 was great.
Growing up with 2D beat em ups, I hated when games went 3D. That's the reason I stopped buying consoles. I had the Saturn in the mid 90s, but I'd sold it within 6 months and only got back into gaming about two/three months ago, when I found out I could get all my old favourite arcade games in one console (the pandora saga console).
Streets Of Rage wouldn't have been as commercially successful in 3D i personally think it definitely suits the 2D style of gameplay better.
All i can say after watching this is im glad it was scraped because streets of rage 4 is an absolute masterpiece.
I’m horrible at playing streets of rage games but darn it they’re sure fun to play
I hate 3d polygon games.....2D for Life
Such classics, gave us final fight and then some ❤️
I grew up with a lot of love for the genius of AM2 and Yu Suzuki especially. Saturn was a wonderful system but out of step with the wider development model. Let's call it a Rolls Royce amongst Model T's?
The game would of been streets of rage 4 if Sega were to release a streets of rage game on the Dreamcast
I’m a 90s kid, but we never had any Sega systems so I didn’t get the play Streets of Rage until it came to 3DS. Quite interesting to learn about its history!
The 3ds versions with 3D is pretty cool 😁😁😁
I missed out on SoR because I grew up with Nintendo and PlayStation. I've played a lot of beat em ups though. Didn't know they released SoR on 3ds, will have to check it out. Solid video documentary.
They also released Galaxy Force 2 on 3DS.
Streets of rage 4 is a legit sequel that I'm glad got developed
The nightmare dlc is worth it also. Playing as the new female cop is insane you can multiple combo and then continue by jumping on to next enermy
. The studios new tmnt game is also on my watch list
Goes to show that not everything needs a 3D version, and some game franchises should stay with what brought them into the fight.
@@alexcain2855 In hindsight that's a given, but back in the mid 90's anything 3D was automatically cooler than something in boring old 2D. Not attempting to enter this alluring dimension would have been commercial harakiri for most developers.
Streets Of Rage 4 is trash and not a proper sequel. It's a disgrace and disservice to the franchise.
Your voice and editing style remind me of the whole vibe of Violet Berlin and other British gaming shows of yesteryear. Very cool!
Ur so cute lady decade ur my beautiful love k 😘
Great video. Streets of Rage 2 is one of the greatest games ever made for me 👍
10:11 -- I'm sorry, but are the placeholder enemy names, "Sumfucka"?
Saw that too. Not convinced Sega would cook up something so strong!
Amazing stuff. Never heard of this ,😁
Fantastic video! My all time favourite game, Got a subscriber 👌
Streets of Rage remake is amazing!
Hey did you play street of rage 1 2 3 4
I came across your videos while watching Kim Justice's series on Jack Tramiel.
Clicked on your video and was very happy I did.
Kim sets a high bar for computing history documentaries and yours are as good, if not better for fine details.
I just find it odd that as someone who's got LGR, 8-bit Guy, Kim Justice, RMC and Nostalgia Nerd on my subs, your name hasn't come up much sooner.
Have a word with yourself UA-cam algorithm!!!
Holy hell you are going hard, I feel like you post a new video daily. LOL.
I never knew Fighting Force was based on Streets of Rage, but I loved playing it at my friend's house on his PS1
I think a polygonal Streets Of Rage could be done, but it would need to be in the style of the TMNT: Turtles In Time Re-Shelled, which is a remake of the original arcade version. So that way it could be a side scrolling beat-em up in 3D.
Personally, I heard that Core Design and Eidos wanted to be cheeky with the SoR brand and release it on all platforms! But for obvious reasons, Sega rejected that!
Intrigued by the game.....Intrigued by the lovely voice....oooooooooo my Gawwwwd you fiiiiiiiine.....I mean her knowledge is Intriguing & amazing subscribed fosho
Streets of rage is too sick. Anyone played 4 ?
Jeremy from TheQuartering brought me here and I'm happy to support this channel. 🙏🙏🙏 Fuck DMCA Strike trolls and UA-cam for allowing such violations
As a 16 bit era child I never played any of these games. Everyone loves them apparently but no one spoke about these at school. Now they are like the most popular game ever.
Loved the original trilogy.
Liked the first Fighting Force game, so I don't think it would be a black sheep if it'd indeed became streets of Rage 3D.
And of course, the 4th game is awesome!))
Fighting force didn't get great reviews but we loved it.. especially in an age when the beat 'em up well was running dry.
You should make a collaboration with The Gaming Historian.
Lady Decade, did you just say that 2020, the year of Final Fantasy VII Remake, Doom Eternal, Tony Hawks 1+2, Astro's Playroom, Spider Man Miles Morales, Half Life Alyx and Crash Bandicoot 4 was a bad year in gaming? My poor gamer heart was just shattered.
Thank you, Lady Gaga!!
I love Streets of Rage also I LOOVE this video u made!!
!!!THANK U SO MUCH!!!
Another awesome video from the Lovely and talented Lady Decade!
I wish people would stop acting like BK3 isn’t as good as BK2. With a run/roll mechanic, multiple routes and a new special move system the game was very very good. Not as groundbreaking - yes. Not as good? Okay okay the music isn’t as good but the game itself is very good imo
I'm surprised you didn't mention DD2, Zombie Revenge, or Spikeout. There are even more examples of arcade beat'em-ups from Sega like Shining Force Cross and Soul Reverse.
I've played FightingForce back in the day; who could've ever known that it was supposed to be a Streets-of-Rage game?!
allthough i played a good bit of mega drive when i was a kid, i actually got to play fighting force first and learned about streets of rage a few years later ... i think fighting force controls rather clunky and sluggish - like most of the PSX/Saturn era 3D games - if this would have come out as "streets of rage 4" or whatever, it would've probably ended up as one of the not-so-well-recieved titles of the series - just like most of the 3D sonic games.
i think the modern approach of keeping the game on 2D movement & mechanics but wrap it in beautifull 3D environments works better here.
Shenmue was Streets of Rage 4 in all but name.
Goddamn you Lan Di, I'll find you wherever you are!
(I still love you Lizardcube, no offense intended)
Sounds like you go the PG version of how Lara Croft was born lol.
Tomb Raider started out in design as an Indiana Jones style title. The reason she became female had nothing to do with Virtua Fighter and more to do with the fact that during that era of game development they were still figuring out how best to do 3D modeling. Not like the dev's of the era were sharing their tools for 3D model development at the time. Even though GDC had been around since 88, information was still slow to propagate through the industry, especially from half way around the world. While Virtua Fighter is 3 years older than Tomb Raider. I highly doubt it was the driving motivator for Lara Croft. It might have lead to the final decision, but the primary cause was their main character looked more female after being modeled than male. Did I mention 3D modeling was still relatively bad back then, especially in the west lol.
Also Girl Power.... the power of cringe be with you.
I would like to see a history of Final Fight series.
There was also though a Streets Of Rage inspired game in 3d called Spike Out by Sega which was released in the Arcades on Naomi Hardware and then on the Original XBOX, and also the best Streets Of Rage game ever, Streets Of Rage Remake by Bombergames.
Great video love streets of rage. Just subscribed. Can't wait to watch more.
Its sad/funny how Sega tried to abandon all the Genesis titles, almost like they want to act like it never happened. Without Sega of America's success, Sega would have went bankrupt in the 90s. Oh, I get it now! Sega of America was a success so they must have been aiming to fail.
Talk about the numerous canceled Metal Gear games that Hideo Kojima was supposed to make & the canceled Zone of the Enders 3 and the Vita HD Collection remaster port
SEGA totally abandoned Dreamcast project and users after 2002 descontinued the console. So many projects are discovered every year from Dreamcast Development Kits (dev kits) sold by old sega developers or workers and homebrew developers
Just discovered your channel. Absolutely awesome 👌 thanks...
I remember seeing a trailer for the Raven Blade on the Gamecube, then being very disappointed when it was cancelled. I'd be interested in hearing about that. Also, Donkey Kong Racing.
I always thought SOR was better than FF, like better music, the police help and little things like a backwards attack and so many different weapon options. SOR perfected the beat em up genre, even though they didn't invent it.
Wow!! I just found your channel and its soooo good! Great Nostalgia!!! You should cover Dragon Force!
Great video! New management coming in and not knowing how valuable / popular existing I.Ps are, is a tale as old as time. I was under the impression that the game Spikeout was kind of the test bed to see if a 3D Streets of Rage could work, but I'm probably misremembering.
I'll never forget going into Electronics Boutique with money to burn, torn between Fighting Force and Final Fantasy VII. Fighting Force is what I was initially going on for but I'm glad to say I changed my mind
I believe Fighting Force was pretty much finished for the Saturn? You can 'obtain' and play it - not sure if it's emulator only, or on original hardware...
Great video, very Informative stuff!
I love the SOR series and SOR4 is the best beat’em up game in recent history and a terrific entry in the series. Can’t wait for a SOR 5!
SoR4 3D looked so promising. Thankfully we finally got Spikeout: Battle street
Am I the only one that wants to see SoR 1-3 remastered using SoR 4's engine? I thought 4 was great, would love to see 1-3 redone with similar treatment/music/etc.
Isn't it a little sad that SEGA can't make SEGA games anymore? SOR4 and Sonic Mania, both outsourced and done correctly whereas if it were left in SEGA's hands, they would've bombed it.
I'm new subscriber! I like your methods of giving info in field of video games =) Great!!!
Really well done video. I love the accent and I'm looking for excuses for you to say the words aluminum and drawing over and over :)
This isn't exactly my cup of tea but I wanted to give you a sub and some likes. Jeremy from The Quartering sent me. 🍻
I do think those 3D prototypes being released would have done more harm than good. I feel the same way about the "unfortunately" cancelled Sonic Xtreme on Saturn, it never looked very good imo and would have damaged the Sonic brand immensely (the way Sonic 2006 ended up doing)
I can't hear the words Tomb Raider and not think of the NAViGaTR "review." lol.
When it comes to 3d beat em ups, the only 2 i can think of are the bouncer & urban reign
The Bouncer is so freaking awesome!
@@anthonypimentel7218 & freaking hard 😡
Polygonal video gawere such a shitshow.
Devs coulda just used the massive processing power to push 2d graphics through the roof
This video doesn’t offend me with obnoxious ranting from some nerd, nor does the host try to make themselves bigger than the topic at hand. Subscribed and liked.
Wow the DC was a really awesome console of its time. I had to put them to myself too. Since the games and the appearance of the DC had convinced me, I think that the lack of advertising in Europe was also a reason why the console ended up like the Sega Saturn, but they didn't make a mistake, after all they have us with many of them good games supplied. However, such a street ofRage game collection or 1 3 D part like Fithing Force 1 back then I would have loved it
I guess hack n slash is the 3D equivalent of the brawler, but I don't think they've ever worked as well. They don't have the same sense of control & accuracy. Was probably for the best Streets of Rage stuck to 2D in the end, or side scrolling at least.
well since you showed ff street wise at the end there, which in my unpopular view is criminally under rated, maybe a video on that and the lost final fight 7 sons game?
I love streets of rage I practically brought this game on multiple consoles And I liked fighting force final fight
Not only did yuzo koshiro tweet out and praise this video, he wish me well in a separate tweet in which I mentioned I am currently in the hospital. I love you lady decade! (Don’t hurt me top hat!)
Anyone know if HighLander was ever found? I so wanted that game for xbox360.
Earthworm Jim documetary next plz. I do often gravitate towards female characters in fighting games as long as they're strong and pretty, not deliberately trying to be cute or overly sexualised. They should have good strong moves and good fashion sense.
Other studios "pitching" for Sega could only bring games carrying the Streets of Rage name, as it just happened with other franchises butchered by third parties. Fighting Force was a disaster, thankfully it didn't carry the SoR name. But a 3D version would have been a completely different game anyways. The gameplay of the 2D trilogy was really tight, and you needed the original coders to replicate it, it's just sad we never had a 2D SoR on the Saturn. SoR4 is a nice rendition TBH. But like many other cases, Megadrive emulators with HD texture/tiling support are the way to go to enjoy enhanced versions of the original games.
Have you seen the "the gayest game ever" version?
Having played Fighting Force, Sega dodged a bullet.
Starting to think you sold your soul to the devil. No idea how you are pushing out so much content so quickly. Don't burn out ! X
As much as u left out from sega I'll save my tears and Play Dynamite Cop and Spike Out.
A 3D streets of rage game should be made by platinum games or even better for the people who made yakuza and now are making judgement.
Lady Decade had some awful videos when she started. But she learned and kept going. This video (although I still don't like the dialect) actually made me subscribe her. She earned it downright!
Keep it up!
Not all 2d fighters make a successful transition to 3d, so it was probably a good thing it never got released!
I like how you can pronounce the Japanese names accurately but Top hat Gaming Man botches them every other time.
I played through all 3 streets of rage games this week and I love sor 3 think it's great. Going through the final fight games now
Fighting force was amazing, it was one of my favorite ps1 games as a kid, the second one was weird tho, a third person shooter more like tomb raider, still a good game at the time but not as good as fighting force
