    Just the info I've been looking for. Tried a jigsaw but that didn't work very well. Need to drill some big holes in the bottom for drainage. Going to use it to make compost. Will try hole saws that fit my drill.

    Nice video. I'm glad you preserved the lid. Many do not.

      Ya I like to use as much of it as possible. That way nothing really goes to waste. And for the filter it is nice to have the lid on top.
      thanks

    You make it look so easy. I used a handsaw

    • @vonponics
      @vonponics  4 роки тому

      That must have taken a little longer.
      Power tools make things easier.
      I just had to wait for the batteries to charge.

    I done this with a Ryobi 18v. Did fine. Maybe your saw is not sharp. Maybe a weak battery.

    • @vonponics
      @vonponics  3 роки тому

      Most likely it was the battery.

    • @vonponics

      Ya using a skill saw makes it very easy.
      But it actually took me a long time since the battery I have for the saw is pretty bad. So the saw kept dying while I was cutting it.

    what angle should I have my circular saw at, when cutting this exact barrel?

    • @vonponics
      @vonponics  3 роки тому +2

      I didn't have it at any angle. I just keep the blade in its normal straight position.

    • @vonponics
      @vonponics  3 місяці тому

      Best to buy a 55 gallon drum with a removable lid if that is what you want. Doing it this way will make a lid but it just sits on top. You would need the water to leave the tank before it overflows over the top.

  • @sinhmach7568

    Would you please let me know where do I buy thanks

    • @vonponics
      @vonponics  2 роки тому

      you can get them on amazon (amzn.to/3D9t68o)
      But on amazon they are supper pricey.
      I just get mine used on craigslist, FB market place, etc.

  • @Kebunbandar

    It's way better to cut it from the top like open a cane rather than cut from the side.
    The barrel will become squashy in the long term without its core ring structure removed.
    I use a jigsaw to cut from the top. Then putting cringe on it. Much better.

    • @vonponics
      @vonponics  4 роки тому +1

      yes that is true. It definitely makes the tank stronger doing it the way you mentioned. I did it this way because I wanted to use the top as a lid. But if I use tanks like this again I might just do what you recommended.
