Oh boy, this is really old. The method I use now has changed a lot and I can't really recommend this anymore. Still, you're welcome if you found this useful.
@@nikkytae I see, nonetheless I can't think of anyone who actually shows how to achieve this kinda of look in maya. Would be great if you consider making an updated version of the tutorial :) thanks alot
@@nikkytae I do use blender, and it has various ways of achieving these kinda look very easily :) would love to do the same in maya. Thanks for considering it.
@@bigdamnhero2297 the newer method im currently using is inspired by what people do in Blender, im sure you can do the same too. namely the dude from this channel was my inspiration ua-cam.com/users/LightningBoyStudio
It's really awesome the way you think.Could the line be controlled more accurate? Now it's a little bit random. Maybe you can also try to use 3delight to render toon line.It 's calculated by z depth .(They have free version XD
lines can be controlled, it's just another mesh actually. im just lazy to do it properly since its just a demo. Thanks for the recommendation, i'll look it up
Hey there nice tutorial. I habe a problem though. After I uncheck Double Sided and Check Opposite, I make the mesh bigger with the transform component but it breaks it. And if I use the scale tool to make the duplicate bigger it renders black.
if you duplicate it the render stats might have been reset, i think? if you use transform component what exactly breaks? sometimes you still need to tweak verts a bit after that, then transfer your rig onto the outline polygon again
I did all the steps up to disabling double sided and enabling opposite. It looks cel shaded when the model is selected. But when I deselect it, the model is half black. But the other side looks cel shaded tho. Help?
@@nikkytae Ok uh sorry nvm that, I just found out that the model was duplicated twice for some reason. Another question, how do you weightpaint the model to animate? Do you copy and past the weightpaint to the black model? Or do you merge the models first? When I tried to merge them, the model just becomes black instead.
why are the most useful videos are always on 480p, but thanks for showing the process.

@@bigdamnhero2297 watching how people do it in Blender actually helps a lot, but we'll see. If I got the time then I'll see what can be done.

is it being rendered or not? also can you send me the file directly to take a look?
oh. did you forget to increase the size of the outline mesh?
@@nikkytae How do I send you the file
well you can put it in a google drive folder and drop me the link here or something. up to you.
