Been eating those since I came out the womb basically 😂😂😂! They are my hangover cure ! Easy way for learners to open them is to put two spoons back to back tip of spoons on the mouth push down until you penetrate and squeeze the handles of the spoon together to split the shell. If done right it should crack it in half completely for ya. But yes they are amazing, not sure about the mango taste but they’re yummy ! we call them kinas in New Zealand and something we love.

Here in the philippines we usually catch sea urchins and put them in a net and shake it until its spikes fall off then we usually break through at the mouth of it and make space for our finger to fit in and then scrape out the guts then get the bright yellow like mushy thing is the edible part of the sea urchin.
We usually catch dozens of it, after all of that we gather all of it and then put into a huge shell of a sea urchin and put vinegar on it with a lot of spicy chillies and pair it with rice

Some advice for the urchin capturing. We usually bring a potato bag with us. We put them into the bag so it cannot sting us and carry them back to the surface safely. When we back to the boat, we will put them into a bucket and start shaking them! Their stings will break off and we can easily take them out and eat them. Cheers mate.

just wanna share..there is an easy way catching sea urchin...here in the Philippines or in my province in Mindanao, we normally uses nets that tied up the other while the other side, we inserted a 2 feet long of wire and formed it into circle...and also, we made a gaff with two bended wires so we can pick the sea urchin easily and put it on the circled net without getting hurt...once we already caught more or less 20 sea urchins, we shake them on the surface of the water/ocean so the thorns will be removed..after removing the thorns, we can now hold or touch the sea urchin without hesitation or getting hurt... i love all your episodes YBS.....

Here in the Philippines, we use sticks or tongs to get them and put them in a basket to shake off most of the spikes! We call the big one which can prick you right away Toyom and the other species Salawaki. Salawaki has less sharp barbs and can be handled without taking the spikes off and taste more creamy and sweet. Best eaten fresh with a couple drops of lime or lemon. The best way for first aid is you roast a lime or lemon in the coals then when they get warm. (caution not hot) sequence juice on the wound and the next day you will hardly feel a thing. I love all your videos dude! more power to you living the dream!

I catched sea urchins in Sardinia. I don't know if it's like that all around the world, but in Sardinia you can separate male and female, because female ones have leaves, muscles or other stuff that sticks or pokes to their spikes. They are a lot tastier to. You can actually catch these only with a knife, by knocking them out of their setted position and just putting them on your hand. If you grab them, you're gonna get stung, but if you just leave them on your Hand, nothing will happen. Anyways, nice vid and good day yall

Hi guys, my advice from the Pacific islands is you want to keep to the medium size ones. The older the urchins are the browner the color is. That smaller specimen you found is more orangey in color when mature

Sea urchins are consumed in many Japanese restaurants in Sydney. You struck gold mate.
Also try it with soy and wasabi. It's covers alot of that seafood smell and you just get this creamy texture. It's very nice.

Im from Vieques, and one time when I was 12 years old I was on some rocks searching for sea snails to cook up with some rice. Urchins are everywhere there. Red ones, and black ones. But I accidentally stepped on a bunch of urchins and had over 30 needles in each foot. It was the worst pain ever, and my mom took them all out with a sewing needle. Sucked.

A penguin pulls into a garage to have his car checked. The mechanic tells him that its going to be a while, so the penguin decides to waddle over to an ice cream shop for a treat. When he returns, the mechanic says, “It looks like you blew a seal.” The penguin relies, “Nah, that’s just some ice cream that dripped off my cone.”
Okay, that was a joke BUT Brodie actually ate Sea Urchin testicles lol
Gotta love it, keep em coming YBS.

We have our own method of eating sea urchins. We take a couple of sea urchins and toss 'em in a sack then we just have to keep shaking the sack until the thorns get separated from the shell then we cut open a round area where the teeth is located, then once it's open we just have to dip the the sea urchin in the water(open side first) then whip it until the only thing u see is the yellow part. Taste best with spicy vinegar!
