I also always loved how the students in P1 have legit firearms. Like they're thrusted into this absolutely bizarre and terrifying situation and they just immediately start packing heat like a pack of chads.
I get why people want a Persona 3 remake, but god the first two need one so much more. Persona 1 needs a remake to fully explore its story, while Persona 2 needs a remake so we can experience the amazing story with actually good gameplay.
Personally I really disagree on Persona 2 having poor gameplay. The Fusion Spell mechanic is a great way to experiment with combinations, and Group Contact is one of the most fun ways of mixing character interactions with the moment-to-moment gameplay of the battles. The battles flow incredibly well (with the exception of Innocent Sin's PSP rerelease where they slightly tweaked the way rounds worked, which hurt the pacing of fights by a fair bit - I'm glad that Eternal Punishment PSP reverted back to the way the PS1 versions played). I only have 3 problems with the game. First, its dungeon designs are uncreative and repetitive. Second, the encounter rate is too high - If the PSP rereleases had just lowered the encounter rate and raised the experience enemies gave you, instead of lowering the difficulty (along with IS not changing what I mentioned above) I would consider them to be the perfect rereleases. Third, grinding for cards is a poor fusion system, and could be easily reworked to lower the time you need to spend in order to gain cards from demons. I'm not against the games getting rereleases or remakes at all, because if they turn out to be not good or unfaithful to the originals in my eyes, I just won't play the remade versions, simple as that. But saying that Classic Persona has poor gameplay is just unfair criticism given all the great ideas the games tried out, and most of the time accomplished.
@@ofthenoseclan I mean, those three things you stated are exactly the reason I don't like their gameplay. Lame or annoying dungeons with a stupidly high random encounter rate (with the encounters not visible on the map) is a recipe to make me dislike a JRPG instantly, and the poor "fusion" system (which isn't even fusion, let's be fair, it's just essentially buying Personas) is just even worse when I go into this game with the experience from the incredibly fun fusions in mainline SMT and Personas 3-5. I didn't HATE P2's gameplay, but it was certainly a slog to get through, held up by its amazing story and characters. I honestly enjoyed P1's gameplay more.
I love how some people were confused when Aria of the Soul in smash ultimate was labelled with the origin game "Revelations Persona" instead of p3, p4, or p5 it was hilarious
J Elliott honestly as a smash fan who only really dove into the series because of smash I don’t remember a lot of people talking about it coming from revelations but I do remember a bunch of jokes about the only references to p1,2, and eternal punishment was joker’s alts.
The amount of death related names in the Snow Queen reminds me of Persona 3. Nemesis, Hypno, Nyx, Tartarus, Thanatos and etc. I guess the themes really were already there
What's infuriating it's that it doesn't need a remake in the sense that it's completely unplayable in its current state, it's just that, especially in the west, we don't have a definite way of playing this game. If you choose a version you heavily sacrifice something the other version does right. Also the battle system can be reworked since it works, but it's just baffling some choices they made.
Wait a minute wait a minute are you telling me all it takes for the Persona 1 protagonist to kill death incarnate is whip out his gun and shoot Nyx in the face, but Makoto from Persona 3 has to use the power of all the friendships he made to awaken the universe Arcana and then use the power of the universe the seal Nyx dieing in the process. Man Makoto's a punk he should have turn that evoker on Nyx Instead of himself.
The P1 and P2s protagonists and even party members are probably the strongest in the series' world in context, considering that they're all basically wild cards save for afinities, as well as the fact that at least the P2 cast straight up can just summon their Personas whenever without needing to be in the meta world of the game
@@MaximumAddition That and they all do not give two shits about the power of friendship P1 cast will not hesitate to beat the snot out of anyone and then laugh in their face
The reason Reiji adds so much to P1 is that he's *SPOILERS* Kandori's younger brother, so you get some cool extra scenes if he's your 5th party member.
He’s definitely a favorite of mine now but dang..the first time I started up I had to restart because the guide I was looking at I think ign guide didnt explain properly at all
Yeah, I find it so weird how one of the characters that has most stakes in the SEBEC route is a completly missable party member. Imagine if in P5 during Madarame's Palace you could possibly not even meet Yusuke and miss him for the entire game.
Persona 1, and the 2 duology as well, are amazing games. But it’s not that they’ve been forgotten. They’re from a different era of RPG game design. Really if the gameplay was sped up and it kept their aesthetics then they would be amazing. But remember, these games are slooooow. I love them. But they are very slow, which I feel many can forget about
The fact they're relatively neglected by Atlus themselves doesn't help matters much, considering P1 didn't get its original music arranged until P5 Scramble
Yeah that's mainly what got me to stop playing the first persona game back on psp. It had some animation skip function but it didn't work properly so it was still slow as hell
I dunno in which dimension you live but yes, they're practically forgotten. And you can skip whole attacks animations, damn, it makes fights even shorter than in next Persona games
Yep, going back to old RPGs can be really tough, you need to be REALLY determined to play them. I played Xenogears on emulator some time ago because I had never finished it on the PS1 and my fucking God, the insane encounter rate nearly made me quit playing it. I couldn't even run away from fights since apparently escaping raises the encounter rate even higher, I'd just get another almost instantly after escaping and would just end up wasting even more time.
@@GiordanDiodato yeah, granted I was underlevelled and didn't know what Ultimate Personas are. I had this loop that got me to cycle healing moves between. Each party member where in the end, only about 1-2 of them could attack at certain phases
@@blatchie4608 ah yeah that's the thing lol. Protags ultimate persona gets a signature move at max rank that kinda cheeses the final bosses. Granted, its something you have to REALLY work for and even i as someone who doesnt really agree with the "too grindy" complaint can admit by the time you're headed to the final dungeons of both routes and get the ultimates, leveling up does become slow at that point. But otherwise, i just like to turn battle animations off, chill by a trish spring and go back and forth for random battles when i grind in p1. Actually a relatively speedy process for the rest of the game
Nam: This game has a lot of replayability because of the different characters you can obtain. Also Nam: I didn't want to try out this character cause I didn't want to replay the game. just found this funny x3
old comment but despite having the likes of Akihiko, Kanji and makoto in later games being so unbalanced compared to everyone else, P1 really takes the cake of having the most unbalanced party balancing in the series as Elly and Nanjo are just really good party members that are available in both routes and cause of this if you wanted to optimize you will end up using both without getting the chance to use Brown and Reiji in the game period, what's funny is that Reiji who is advertised as the secret party member is actually kind of trashy to use with a very linear setup to work with and requires extensive investment to make him work really well for you compared to elly who can join much earlier and has really good affinity with the judgement arcana and can just offer you much more by comparison with less investment
@@andrewstephenson5825 yeah the game unlike the later stuff where party members is like a yay thing in 1 you have to say no to to some people in order to get the character you want if you don't get the requirements to get reiji and say no to everyone ayase (who in gameplay is just a shitty version of maki) just forces herself on your team. SQQ you have more flexibility on party composition with 2 optional slots to choose betwen 3 characters and Nanjo and Elly are still available to you so outside of at least using everyone once you can blaze through and stick with nanjo and elly the whole way and it makes the playthrough a bit easier to go through
@@NickKrishnan The Guardian system. In SMT:If, whenever you or your partner dies, you receive a Guardian that revives you and grants you new spells and alters your stats. Guardians are essentially the precursors of Personas, except every time you die, your Guardian changes.

Yep. Persona Q had the similarity between Maki/Rei being ill girls hospitalized their whole lives. And while its manga-exclusive, the subplot with Naoya and his dead twin brother Kazuya is repeated with Kasumi/Sumire in Persona 5.
To people interested in Persona 1 but are turned off by the gameplay and underdeveloped story then I recommend reading the manga. It is genuinely very good.
@@jeus_cnt it's not really. It's better than the game's story. The characters are more developed and the so is the story. They made Naoya an actual character with a pretty interesting backstory.
@@iunnoo none of the persona series are linked the only thing similar is the use of personas and the velvet room and I'm pretty sure the velvet room is only in persona no. 3, 4 and 5
Thanks for deciding to cover the initial 3 games in the series :). The older games don't get discussed as often imo (i agree that Persona 1 deserves a "from the ground up" remake).
Ironically, the way you get the most out of Kandori as a villian is if you pick Reiji, as he has his own seperate reasons to take out Kandori, which are explained throughout the game.
The best thing about Persona 1 is that you can cheese it. If you fuse the right Persona and know where to go, you can beat the main story in less than 10 hours. I beat it four times (Bad end, Elly end, Reiji end, and Snow Queen). Maybe it isn't the best game, but I wouldn't say that it's terrible. Besides, it's got the casino which will kill more time than you think.
"His goal is to use the Deva system to create a reality where he has absolute power and can become god, but we know nothing about his motivations." Bruh.
It’s funny; by the time you reach him, he admits he’s bored as all hell being ‘God’ since he had nothing but ambition. Wouldn’t even be much of a boss fight if it wasn’t for Kei insulting him, and then Nyarlathotep course correcting.
@@narutardkyuubi Kandoris whole thing was nihilism. He's a parallel to Maki (everyone really), but a little more extreme in that well, 1) he kidnapped a sickly high school girl and used her negative emotions to reality warp shit, but also he just wanted to find meaning in his own existence but couldn't. The game doesn't have the cinematic elaborate cutscenes 2 onwards has to really visually spell it out in an explicit way, but pay attention to the questions Mai and Kandori asks the player as hints to what's going on with him. As you said, he's aimless ambition, searching for a reason,a goal. And when he achieves what he thinks he wants, he's still not satisfied because there's nothing else to accomplish next.
@@MagillanicaLouM deva yuga has an arranged version where you can listen to a dialogue between maki and kandori and is the most nihilistic shit i've ever heard. They even say "you and i are the same" and talk about stuff like "i want to change", "that's a waste of time", "i can't change", "there is no meaning in life, you should know that" and so on.
Now honestly as a fan of Personas 1-3 I would love to see P1 and 2's duology get more love and respect amongst these younger fans. Heck I'd be down for a P1 remake next year knowing it's turning 25 yrs old. Just don't throw in those somewhat annoying social aspects. Though a metroidvania based off P1's spin off Tower of a different sky would gnarly as well
If there is a remake, I want it to stay as faithful to the original version as possible while patching up the stuff that is a bit shaky (at least in my opinion) they don't need the social aspects to make the game good. Because as of right now, there's already a really strong foundation that just needs some work.
We probably would respect it if we could feasibly play them. I've only been able to play Persona 4 and 5 because I don't have a PS Vita and I am not gonna buy one to play one series.
@@simpcat4415 Oh well. Looks like you miss out on the more interesting stories of the series imo. Your lose then i suppose, they would fun and interesting games.
Wait, a dream world created by a single person, where she traps other people to let them live a perfect life and after you defeat her she realizes her wrongs. Sounds a little familiar
Also Persona Q. Maki and Rei are eerily similar in how they cause the events of their respective games. Two ill girls confined to hospitals, embittered and envious about missing out on the joys of life.
On ps1, there was nothing like it. I loved the setting and the way the characters got along. It’s only gotten better in the sequels but back then was really unique. The game was too hard though. It had long battles and the last dungeon, which I never finished, had a lot of blind walking and excessive enemy rate. I couldn’t finish it even when cheating with action replay and quick level up. It’s still special to me in my heart though and that art was no joke. I use to have the guide just for the art.
You perfectly described why I can't stand the ps1 version I need to play the PSP version because I'm sure I'll like it but that PS1 version left a bad taste in my mouth. Good music though
@@MapleMilk It really is worth it. The PSP version is a bit too easy, but it really is one of the best games ever made. Dungeons are really quick and fun and the encounter rate isn't as bad as people say. I think the real problem people have is that battles move a bit slow.
10:03 that's because of the moon, depending on how full the moon is will determine how most demons react to certain things, so you may have to leave the game afk for several minutes just so you can negotiate with a certain demon and have a higher chance of getting a spell card.
The same thing goes for the SMT series, on some phase, demons are just extremely eager to join me no questions asked, but other times, it feels like I’m pulling teeth just trying to get one to join me
There is actually an answer guide on the internet, that gives you the right choices for each demon. And if you make a demon angry with one of the right choices, you can always switch the answering charakter (I learned that darn piece of information near the end, so screw me 😂). I didn't know though, that there are two routes in this game, I always assumed, that you have to go the sebec route to begin with. 😅
Waiting to see you talk about my favorite persona games, Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. By the way, persona 1 is ok, but don't have to much to talk about. I really don't like the expirence share in this game, I remember beat the game with MC lvl60 and the party around lvl50~55. Hugs from brazil.
Persona 1 has its flaws for sure, and is admittedly quite dated, though I still personally love it despite that. Atlus probably won't make a remake any time soon, if ever, unfortunately. Also, provided you go through the hassle of taking Reiji along, you do actually get some extra info and depth on Kandori. Oh, and yeah it's hard not to like Ayase.

Ok, big boomer time, Revelations Persona WAS MY FIRST, and only actually, I only played 2 when it came to the psp, then went and play the other one which was fucky cause EP carries the name change from Revelations, which IS's remaster doesn't so my brain took a while to process it all thank you Atlus for not translating EP's remaster, idiots. Watching this video made me want to check out the Ice Queen quest, even tho' it really sounds like a pain, and also, Shin Megami Tensei If, which got a translation and it's said to be kind of the proto Persona.
I got nothing but respect for Persona boomers :) y'all were holding it down way back. I think by the time Atlus could have translated EP, the PSP in the West was already dying/dead. and considering the sales of IS for PSP, I guess it didn't make sense business-wise? there's some stuff online here and there for why the game never made it over. it was unfortunate timing, all in all...I hope one day the ENTIRE duology can make it to the West properly, whether they're ports or remakes.

As a person who started with Persona 5, I definitely wanted to check out the game that started it all and I’ve been trying to find ways to play it (recently found out about the emulator) and just hearing the story, gameplay, and changes they made to the game really has me wanting a remake for this game! The snow queen quest got me hook! I definitely want to see you cover Persona 2’s games
The worst part of Persona is its lack of a truly accurate western release. The PlayStation version is a dumpster fire and the PSP version is easily preferable, but it's still not really ideal. It throws out the game's dark, ambient aesthetic in favor of a UI and soundtrack that attempts (and fails) to homogenize the game into the aesthetic of the modern games. There's a patch to reimplement some of the PlayStation music, but due to the difference in structure (there's far less songs and they're far shorter) it's a band-aid solution at best.
it's really not any darker than P3-5 regardless, I think they threw out the original OST either because Soejima didn't like the original music or Okada pulled a Led Zeppelin, honoring one of the composers, who is dead though that doesn't explain why Innocent Sin PSP had the option of the original music.
@@GiordanDiodato I suppose "dark" may not have been the most accurate term, but I Still stand by "ambient." It probably would have been more accurate to say "atmospheric" or something to the effect. But even if the tone did line up, it wouldn't explain why the PSP tracks are so much shorter and are reused so often. If they were working within hardware limitations then frankly they should have known that using lyrical music when the loops they were working with were ~1 minute in length would be repetitious and annoying. Persona 2 is an entirely different situation because not only did they include the original music, the new soundtrack is composed of new recordings of the same tracks. It's definitely a better choice to me (now if only they didn't butcher the combat...)
@@GiordanDiodato Did PSP and PS1 have the same combat you mean? If that's the case, the answer is no. In PS1 it's almost like an "auto mode," where you set up actions at the beginning of your turn and it runs until you stop it, with a secondary more traditional mode you can activate. PSP reverses that, so the traditional mode is the default.
I’ve only played P5R, but I always put the St Hermelin High outfit on Joker so I can listen to “Lone Prayer” during battles. I absolutely love this song, it’s such a gem.
Good review. One missed point that I wished you brought up however was how important Mai's questions were in the gingerbread house within the forest. There's a reason why those questions determine whether you get the good ending or the bad ending: you get the good ending if you tell her to stop running away and to accept reality and to love herself the way she is, but you get the bad ending if you don't know what to tell her or if you tell her to keep hiding within her delusional fantasy. THIS is THE point of Persona: having the strength to face the truth and accept it.
Though Persona 5 was my first Mega-ten game, this one still holds a special place in my heart. Despite the frustration I had with the encounter rate, everything else connected to me during a very lonely time. It felt like it had tried its best to piece together something I had lost a long time ago.
Great video man! Super glad to see someone talk about the older Persona games, I can't wait for the Persona 2 video since imo P1 is just ok but P2 is actually really damn good and more people should play it.
I played through Persona 1 for the first time a few weeks ago. What an AMAZING game. I loved every second of it. I did play on an emulator, and I did fast forward through some random encounters (though I did play the majority in normal time, except when doing endgame grinding to get everyone leveled for their ultimates), so I'm sure everyone's complaints about the slow combat and frequent encounters are valid, but this is still one of the few 10/10 games I've played. I finished Innocent Sin right after it, and despite that being a great game, I just wanted to replay P1 again throughout it. The first person perspective is so much better for dungeon crawling, and the pacing was so much better in P1. There was also a lot less aimless wandering and cryptic stuff in P1.
I basically played the game 3 times if we count the bad ending (yeah it suck), good ending, and the snow queen quest. The game is really good, i enjoy it to the very end (even if i didn't understood the persona creation until my second playthrough) P.S. Marry me instead
Dianne Wilsons There’s a map. If your playing the PS1 Version it’s L1. For the PSP version all you need to do is go up and to the left. And the PSP overworld isn’t even that big.
I had a good time with this game until after the second to last boss. Was going to a save room, got jumped, and I got charm looped for about 10 minutes before eventually dying.

In the 90’s, it was all about Final Fantasy, Crash Bandicoot, and Resident Evil when someone mentioned PS1. I never even heard of Persona until the 4th one. I kind of like random encounters because if you decide to explore you’re going to grind so a high encounter rate rewards thorough players. It’s annoying but you get used to it and it’s helpful later in the game.

I miss this era so much, content for its own sake, with confidence that interested players will ultimately find and enjoy it. Great shit. Fuck budget bloat.
My one hang-up with the PSP version is that the new soundtrack by only Shoji Meguro feels a bit less fitting and "more anime" than the PS1 OST, which was a huge collaboration between multiple composers from Atlus. As a result they composed songs they each were comfortable with, and the soundfonts used all across the game vary in such great way to give a weird or comfortable vibe to the areas and scenes. Deva Yuga is the PRIME example I mention every time, the original is so fucking surreal and cerebreal with the weird speaking voices across the left and right speakers of your headphones. The PSP version is just an acoustic guitar over what feels like a hip hop beat, still a fine song but wildly different from the originally intended vibe.

If you choose a version you heavily sacrifice something the other version does right. Also the battle system can be reworked since it works, but it's just baffling some choices they made.

Persona 1, and the 2 duology as well, are amazing games. But it’s not that they’ve been forgotten. They’re from a different era of RPG game design. Really if the gameplay was sped up and it kept their aesthetics then they would be amazing. But remember, these games are slooooow. I love them. old comment but despite having the likes of Akihiko, Kanji and makoto in later games being so unbalanced compared to everyone else, P1 really takes the cake of having the most unbalanced party balancing in the series as Elly and Nanjo are just really good party members that are available in both routes and cause of this if you wanted to optimize you will end up using both without getting the chance to use Brown and Reiji in the game period, what's funny is that Reiji who is advertised as the secret party member is actually kind of trashy to use with a very linear setup to work with and requires extensive investment to make him work really well for you compared to elly who can join much earlier and has really good affinity with the judgement arcana and can just offer you much more by comparison with less investment

There's a patch to reimplement some of the PlayStation music, but due to the difference in structure (there's far less songs and they're far shorter) it's a band-aid solution at best.
it's really not any darker than P3-5
regardless, I think they threw out the original OST either because Soejima didn't like the original music or Okada pulled a Led Zeppelin, honoring one of the composers, who is dead
though that doesn't explain why Innocent Sin PSP had the option of the original music.
It's definitely a better choice to me (now if only they didn't butcher the combat...)
i love persona 1 on the psp and prefer it with the new music, its a win win for me
@@Pokemanic33 did Innocent Sin PS1 have the same combat as Eternal Punishment PS1?
@@GiordanDiodato Did PSP and PS1 have the same combat you mean? If that's the case, the answer is no. PSP reverses that, so the traditional mode is the default.

@@GiordanDiodato Actually Megami Ibunroku Persona has a double speed button on the overworld, you hold X I haven't played Revelations in years but original Release Megami Ibunroku Persona has this feature on both PSX And PC
Please also make a vid for Persona 2. This one was really nice and the length was perfect!
a little headcanon of mine but since in p1 and 2 the characters meet philemon he kinda grant something like a wild card but it's limited hence the persona arcana affinities while p3 4 5 mcs have the actual wild card ability which comes with more benefits and isn't as limited
I’ve never heard anyone talk about p1 but I’m very curious as to what it is and how it’s presented. Thanks for bringing attention to the “forgotten game”! If you would, what do you think you’re going to review next?
Play it bro, it has stuck with me so much!
Daelen Martinez I probably will, it’s pretty cheap on PSVita so no reason not to :)
just avoid the PS1 version. it's awful
@@GiordanDiodato don’t worry, I plan to, I’m just going to get the PSP classic version on vita :)
Persona 1 is actually my personal favorite out of all. Maybe it's the simplistic story and the cast. They all feel so alive, and developed as the story went on. It's not perfect, but it's my favorite.
0:17 "Why don't people talk about the persona games prior to Persona 3 nearly as much?"
*Trenchcoat and Sunglasses Hitler* "Yes, I too would like to know."
Jokes aside, I really did like Persona 1, even though I played it after Persona 3, Persona 4, and even Persona 2. It didn't quite hold up to me as much as Persona 2 Etnernal Sin, which is honestly one of my all time favorites. But I really liked it. There were a couple of good moments, and the battles were fun.
Damn, this is the type of reviews I've been looking for
I feel that I’m only persona 1 fan, or there’s many of my persona 1 people out there
"It's the lack of saving you should be worried about"
People that use save slots for emulator: You have no power here
Kandori wasn't evil for the sake of evil he was nihilistic because of his own suicidal thoughts and projected it onto the rest of humanity so he could become a god and kill humanity then himself but almost pussied out until Nyarlathotep revealed to not be an actual persona and possessed him turning him into god Kandori.
Persona1 has 2 versions Playstation and psp the psp version is better but the music sucks
I was vibing with the school theme on PSP tho. The fighting music tho. UGGGH that loop was painful.

The first 3 games are my favorite despite their dated aesthetics and gameplay flaws. The older feel makes me feel happy, even if others are more swayed toward the modern feel.
Biggest flaws:
1 = the random encounters
2 = TOO easy
3 = tartarus
4 = basically scooby doo or jojo part 4
5 = anime tropes
too bad EP sucks
@@davidpmendez4321
1. I guess?
2. Which P2?
3. YES...
4. Sorta, I guess? Doesn't make it a flaw per se.
5. Lol most JRPGs have anime tropes bud..
@@GiordanDiodato
1. I mean the encounter rate
2. IS, cant play EP :^(
3. Yes
4. By this I mean it's that I cant take the game seriously even if it is one of the best
5. I liked more the serious tone of the first 3 (and also persona 3), idk maybe I should just play the smt series for more serious tone
I hope I don't upset people because of my experience with the games....
@@davidpmendez4321
1. Encounter rate is about average for a PS1 RPG, unless you're talking about the PSP release, which actually has a lower encounter rate. Heck the NA PS1 version has a lower encounter rate than the JPN PS1 version.
2. IS would be easy if it wasn't for its rather high encounter rate. At least you can save anywhere.
3. We definitely agree. Though I find the biggest flaw to be the lack of save points
4. I mean, 1 and 2 aren't any darker than P4 so...
5. What I said in 4, though if you want something darker try Nocturne/Lucifer's Call.
I'm glad you are covering the old persona games
I think 1,2, and p5r are the best of the games but 1,2 got some things in it make be want to slam my head into a glass table (some things in p5r too lol)
Overall good video looking forward to the rest stay safe
Kandori gets more Characterization in the Reji route for the Sebec Quest
Man, the Snow Queen quest is still so fascinating to me - two entirely different stories with completely different themes in one game. And it's so easily missable! I miss this era so much, content for its own sake, with confidence that interested players will ultimately find and enjoy it. Great shit. Fuck budget bloat.
Great vid, I'm excited to see what else you have in store for this channel. You're one of my favorite game analysis channels. Keep up the great work!
Kumi's story reminds me a lot of what Maruki was doing in P5R
Man those dungeons remind me of the old maze screensaver from Windows 95.
"nyx is a joke"
Wipes party and manages to win only through a resistance he was unaware of lol
I love this game a lot so it's good to see some content on it :D
Your pfp is fucking art bro, best use of Naoya’s hair.
SAME BRO
Finally, someone who shares the same opinion
Aaah, a nam upload
I didn't remember about Setsuko but damn, Maki's almost identical to her in P2, it's pretty cool how she even gets her hair done like her mom.
The PSP version is just an acoustic guitar over what feels like a hip hop beat, still a fine song but wildly different from the originally intended vibe.
still better than the 10 fps overworld in the PS1 version lol
@@GiordanDiodato not really
Eyy, another great small youtuber! I am just now playing persona 5 for the first time (never played the others) I never had a ps4 or ps3 but I'm playing it on my ps5
I love this game so much!!! No one should skip it it’s such a good experience
I love P1 honestly, once I got past the outdated gameplay the story is pretty solid and engaging, currently starting a SQQ playthrough.
I never really gave the idea of Persona 1 much thought. I guess theres a reason its the most SMT like Persona Game for a reason. Great Video Btw
in terms of difficulty, maybe
in terms of atmosphere... not really
I might be miss remembering but I recall Renji gives The main antagonist more backround.
I hope you criticise Persona 5 for its one dimensional villains and basic writing too like this whenever that analysis comes out. Eager for Persona 2 analysis!
They kinda didn’t care about most of the villains bc they don’t care, it’s about the PTs
Kaneshiro and Okumura are trash, but bc The game by design didn’t feel the need to build something up. The focus of the game isn’t having a super complex history, it’s about how the PTs tackle their problems and Japan’s cultural issues.
The coolest thing about p1 is that the velvet room is a clearly just a color swap of the red room of the black lodge.
Wish you would have included the manga adaptation.
The first game gets no attention I decided to pick it one day and never regreted it, it isnt as good as 2 or three but was still a great experience
Philemon doesn't talk to just Naoya. Just thought I should point that out. Philemon talks to all of them.
A fandom theory that goes around regarding the ability to use multiple Personae is that P1 (and P2) characters were granted Persona powers by Philemon directly, while the P3-5 characters got theirs with Research/contact with their Shadow/contact with the Metaverse.
Revelations Persona: (Has Nyx, Thanatos, and Tartarus)
Fans: Could We get a Persona 1 Remake Atlus? Please?
ATLUS: You have Persona 3.
(Side Note: No wonder ATLUS thinks P3 is the first Persona game. The used some of the concepts and ideas🤣 at least we have the P5 DLC for P1)
they don't remake Persona 1 and 2 without Okada involved in the project, as he was the producer for the PSP versions.
@@GiordanDiodato He wasn't the producer.,He had no involvement with the psp versions whatsoever. Also ATLUS added P1 and P2 full HD remakes as options to the Japanese surveys shortly after Hashino left Persona.

Actually the game was kinda great don't down on me like that
@@robinisdead8581 The gameplay just killed it for me. I still played the whole SEBEC route, and neither the story really clicked. The manga actually filled some plotholes and made everything better

I’ll side with Antonio here. The manga was really good and helped flesh out the characters, especially Nayoa and Kandori.
Yeah the manga is pretty dope
I believe it's just because they haven't had the opportunity to play it; my first Persona game I played only this year because I never had access to the previous games, but P4G went onto Steam and I finally got to play it and I've fallen in love with it.
