    Hunter played this interviewer like a fiddle. He is the master of distraction, he allows the interviewer to assume he has the upper hand. The interviewer makes a fool of himself talking down to Hunter in an almost patronising, yet sadly blind ramble. If you look closely Hunter takes the time to pause ask a couple of questions and gather that this fool isn’t worth his energy educating, he chooses not to fight this battle because it is pointless, the man is blind, he will never see. You can tell Hunter just wants out and away from the annoyance of it all. A true moment of fear and loathing at the TV studio. Hunter will always remain the king of journalism even in death because of his ability to see and articulate the fine mechanics of raw truth while others walk through life with their eyes closed, conditioned & incapable of seeing what’s staring them in the face.
    I thankfully stumbled upon Hunters works during university and he has made many invaluable contributions through his genius and voice that will walk with me as I journey through this life with a heightened perception. The world was enriched with his unique talents & I will eternally ponder what his charisma would have tapped out on his antique typewriter about the muppetry unfolding in the world today.

    I find this very interesting his spot on about everything. We wasted a whole generation in the middle east and it seems not to be getting any better. We will be paying for this for the next several generations or this could be the end. We have nothing else to give, and soon we will be selling off ourselves to the highest bidder.

    This is the Hunter as I wished he would've been when a friend and I saw him on his tour. Instead we were treated to drunken rambling that turned nasty very quickly with the audience..Boy Howdy.. lol.
    Listen, Nixon was Hunters muse coupled with the Brown Buffalo and Ralph Steadman he saw the heart of darkness beating in the desert.
    Hemingway lost his zest for life
    ( yes, yes I know about the depression), and who's to say it wasn't the same for Hunter, my take is he simply grew tired of wading through the bullshit.
    Hunter was right about the Iraq war, Bush is a war criminal along with the cartel of neo-cons ; one of which is sitting on trumps shoulder whispering for war..( Iran..anyone?)

    One thing about HST is he's always driving on about lost values, depravity, moral decay and the loss of the American Dream. He even self-deprecatingly said, only in a country so off track could someone like me thrive. But I never quite seem to hear what his ideal place, time or ideology is, aside from he thinks wherever he is, from the 60s though 2000s, is bad. Admittedly, I have not read much of his work. In interviews like this, I tend to enjoy his unconventional take on socio-political norms and values, but I never quite feel like he completes his argument into some sort of cogent philosophy.

    • @redneckhippiefreak
      @redneckhippiefreak Рік тому +2

      Based on his Writing and Lifestyle, I think His ideal Society allows Freedom to flourish and corruption to Whither and Die.. . He would want people to have the Freedom to remain sheltered in a prison of their own desires as well as the freedom to walk around with a head full of acid, a joint behind the ear, a pocket full of mushrooms, and crystal meth, Wearing a backpack full of explosives, flip flops, with a bottle of Chivas in one hand, a Smith and Wesson .45 in the other while singing the National Anthem with a rebel flag flying from the dildo stuffed up their ass on the capitol lawn.....But then again, You never could nail down the original Gonzo so maybe He wanted the corruption and war that fosters division and anarchy..
