From an outsider looking in, you are quite self disciplined already! You’ve been consistently uploading. I’ve wanted to start a UA-cam channel for 5 years and never done it for fear I couldn’t keep up with once a week! And you do it so well! Even though it might flow for you and feel fun, you are still so consistent and have been ! That’s not to be written off Zoe ! You should be proud of what you do weekly! especially through the pandemic ?! Working full time?? amazing!

Hi Zoe. I'm 31, have had a complete career change in the last few years and still don't feel that I am where I am supposed to be (and am finally admitting it). It's such a tough spot to be in, especially when we get attached to the money. But I am determined to not give up on myself. I will be happy in a job eventually. So I admire the heck out of you for always trying to stay true to yourself. And for sharing the wins and stumbles along the way. You help me all the time ❤️

Zoe, Can I just say...out of all the youtube channels I've come across yours has inspired me the most. I was let go of a toxic job that was excruciatingly difficult this week. Also in the consulting field except I was specializing in software. The job was so demanding and required so much self teaching. My boss was very supportive and encouraging but her training style did not align with my way of learning. She would get so frustrated when I asked her questions and write me emails how disappointed she was over minor mistakes. I was overly exhausted and running on very little food and sleep everyday. Everyday I woke up dreading my life because this job sucked the soul out of me. I was let go because she could tell how unhappy I was and I wasn't meeting her expectations because I was so burnt out after only 3 months. Sometimes its worth taking a pay cut for your mental health and doing what you love. I love beauty, skincare, and would love to be a youtube beauty guru one day. You really are super articulate and financially literate. I also love how transparent and relatable your content is. Like me, you aren't someone who can be put into a box. Your creativity and passion transpire the mundane corporate atmosphere. Keep growing and keep doing what you're doing because it really is motivating and makes others feel less alone.

My 2022 was such an emotional ride too. Quit my job in March without a back-up plan and only my savings as a safety net, but knew I had to get away from my toxic manager and being un-valued while over-worked. 4 months worth of interviews later, I finally landed a wonderful position with a prestigious company and more than double the salary I had before. But the sleepless nights, anxiety, self-loathing, and questioning life in between then was so gut wrenching. I love the "live frugal, feel rich" mentality - will be putting into practice ASAP! Side note, I looove your necklace, where is it from?

Hi Zoe, love your videos. I totally relate to this sometimes. I am a trained actor but at the moment had to fall into an ordinary job to pay the bills, its really hard sometimes and I can be harsh on myself regarding this, but over time I have slowly learnt to just accept what is going on in the now and just be thankful. I used to really get anxious and worry about things, but what I have learnt is that all this stuff just makes us who we are and is a part of the story. Whenever I get a moment of anxiety or worry, I just look at all the amazing people I have in my life, and look at what I have in my life, and it puts things into perspective. Same with the money worries, I used to beat myself up if I did not save what I had intended to that month, but as the cost of living rises it has become harder. I now just do what I can, be sensible but also not deprive myself as life is extremely short! x

To overcome inflation, keep investing in a good index funds. Keeping too much money in the bank will lose its purchasing power over time. Recession is not come yet but it might come early as we know. Fed is raising interest rate too quickly to control over inflation and that might pause economic activity. It is a good idea to have 5 to 6 month of saving for your emergency funds during recessions. It is also a good time for investing because every stocks are on sale. When stock market are more than 20% down, it is a good time to buy and ride the wave and you will come on top within 2 years. You will make a tons of money. By the way, you are doing really good at your age. congrats on your hard work. Keep up the good work.

Your anxieties and fears are understandable. May be you can find solace in the fact that you saved yourself from a possible burnout in your 30s. Which is unfortunately prevalent in careers like consulting. You’re managing your money well and advancing your career on UA-cam. And you absolutely can call yourself a UA-camr if that’s what you think you are. You don’t have to attach your identity to your work, but if you want to, that’s fine. You have goals and you’re methodical with your approach. You’ve cultivated good habits at a young age. You most definitely will reap the benefits of it going forward.

Hi Zoe, nice video, you covered some interesting topics. I understand your lack of security, but since your main source of income is UA-cam, you can considered as being one step ahead from regular workers because you don't rely on an employer for it. I work full-time, I had been with the same employer for now 10 years, but no matter what, I remain an employee. We main face a recession, so nothing can be considered 100% secured when your an employee, and you aren't, which play in your favor.
One good way to feel more secured is to build up your savings, like you had been doing.
You are doing great Zoe, congrat 🙂

Love this, thanks for sharing! Congrats on your progress!
My thoughts on inflation feel connected to what you said about jobs and identity. I think to the extent that not calling yourself a UA-camr is about imposter syndrome, then totally push against it because you're doing great! I love your vlogs! I think there can be merit, though, in making sure that our jobs don't make up too much of our sense of identity, because jobs change. Especially in this economy. I try to own it while it lasts, but also be open to change in the future as life takes me on my path. Prayer helps me here a lot, trusting that God has my back and is taking care of things. Things change all the time and my sense of self is a more solid, core thing that carries through it all.
Feel you on the lack of structure, too :) Good luck! It's one of my goals too!

I think the "do you make money from that?" Question is so typical for freelancers, especially in professions that are perceived as "artsy" more like writing etc. I'm a freelance translator and people ask me this or a version of this like "do you do this fulltime?" So many times 🙄 and it often comes from people who I know make less than I do with my freelancing... It's kind of a rude question...

I think of you like a Content Creator, you can search jobs descriptions to figure it out what's your "title", but is not necessary that you have to be one, you can be a lot of things, so try to settle the idea of it, of write down to your future me, that's helpful.
About your fear for the future, you can indulge your thoughts writing down a plan IF the worst happen. You can make a plan and talk with friends and family asking them for the support IF that happen, so you can be calmed with a plan made and people who will help if you need it :) hope that can be helpful ☺️

Zoe, long time not seen. Well, i would join your club about "seeing my life differently" since we are the same age. I always imagined myself being a young mum, but honestly, I have no wish to invest my current time into raising a kid. I feel myself as a kid, who is forced to be an adult's body and everyone around me waiting till i will do major steps in my life. But life is so unpredictable, you never saw yourself making money from something which is not even a real job in some people's eyes. I think in your eyes it is not a real job as well and you agreed that u need to change ur mindset about it. 18 years old me, would probably hate how I look right now, cause all i wanted to be was being skinny, and now i am all about muscles and stronger upper body. 30 years old Zoe will laugh about ur doubts now, when from 34,5k subs you will hit millions of us, and u will be able to earn twice ur making now. Workmarkets changed a lot, with all my respect to doctors, teachers and etc, doing social media is a real job now and it will be more and more paid in the future.
