This is by far the best video you have out up in regards to this technique. Thank you Bill! You are great at what you do. I hope to see you out there I haven't ever seen you at Castaic or Pyramid.
Bill, thank you for posting videos and sharing your years of experience! My son and I have met you years ago at a charity tourney at Castaic and you hooked my young son up with a few BBZ. You have a forever fan with him and of course me his dad.
Hello Bill. I just stumbled on your video and the funny thing is, that Castaic was my home water to bass fish. I moved to Idaho 4 years ago and now in fishing heaven. I never knew about float fishing for bass until seeing it done up here. I wish I would have know this tactic when I was on Castaic. Great info video!! Thanks
that's is something I'm going to try in the pond and our reservoirs here in the bay area. there's nothing like fishing with light gear and catching healthy fish. thanks for showing us this technique.
Done it for salmon and other fish, so yes it would work very well. I have made leaders as short as 2' but you may have to tweak the bobber color if super clear water. Best i could say is less is more. Clear bobber with just a little white or something so you can still see whats going on. Thanks for watching
Awesome videos Bill👍🏼 quick question about wind specifically on castaic and pyramid, just got my first bass boat and I know these two lakes get pretty windy, what's the ideal condition wind wise for you when going out?
Hey Bill, your videos are always full of good footage and full of good quality tips. We subscribers appreciate your work and knowledge that you put in these videos. Hope to see you on Pyramid one of these days. 👍👍
As the bass gets closer to your rod tip and the angles that happen you get more friction across your rod as well as your drag. Also the line twist you get as a bass pulls drag off a spinning reel still puts twist in your line no matter how well your drag works. There are a lot of things that add up quick. Knock on wood but over 40 years of using a spinning rod and back reeling I have had very few line breaks. :)
Works 💪 thank you

Bill would this work in a river where I would set the bobber 1-2’ deep ? It’s a fantastic smallmouth river but generally pretty shallow

I’m sorry but can you fish the float n fly in summer
yep... fishing deep with a tiny lure.... places that generally NEVER get fished... makes sense ...
thanks for the video , I just bought 2pk , gonna try it out at lake Cachuma , so you just popping 3-4 times after that retrieving ?
have you tried this with a slip cork technique ??
Yes I have it it works really well. You just have to take up A LOT if line for the hook set.
will try this Saturday

Not many people know what back reeling is. I learned it from my friend's grandfather going on 35 years ago.
Great Video, Bill. The phat Fly works; in fact it's one of my favorite walleye lures. Who can I suggest additional colors to?

what's the advantage to back-reeling as opposed to loosening the drag?

Why you only clip one end of the bobber and not both, Bill?
what size bobber. bill
7/8" for 16oz and 1' for 1/8oz :)
GREAT VID" HOT TIPZ!!!!!
30 min course?
thirstybest haha, I write certain things just to see if people really watch and read what I put up. You are the first😜. Thanks for watching
