Scammers often try to catch buyers and sellers on Facebook Marketplace or similar marketplaces such as Craigslist or Nextdoor where you buy and sell locally to avoid shipping. Since we are selling or buying locally, they try to take advantage of the fact that we assume it's a safe process.
