As someone who spent hundreds of hours with my PSP managing MSF's mother base in Peace Walker, it really hitted me like a mfr seeing the end of Ground Zeroes.
Man, I got you. From my friends, i'm the only one who got really engaged into mgs. I played MGS PW on my dead hours on school, I still got my psp with my progress saved. When the first time we saw a trailer with motherbase being destroyed, it crushed everything inside me, felt like I've lost someone significant in life, and I have never met someone with the same feeling I had.

I played The Phantom Pain first, then MGS 2 & Rising, then Peace Walker. After that it was MGS 1 & 3 & 4. Finally played Ground Zeroes and replayed The Phantom Pain. Venom Snake's experiences were really painful. He had a hard life. I really respect the man.
I remember at one point I didn’t realize what gun I was using until it was too late, I was trying to tranc a group of dudes but ended filling them all with lead. I felt bad afterwards ngl

Oh my fucking god. I've, I've realised it all.... Kojima is a genius... We're connected with big boss through peace walker, because we share the same pain, and then in mgs we again feel the same pain of seeing our hard work (all of the soldiers recruited and missions beaten) being destroyed, then in mgs5 we rebuild it, get hurt from killing your men again, then at the end we realise, that the pain we thought we shared with someone we knew is not ours, but someone else's entirely, and it just loops again into starting the metal gear series. It symbolises how we as species will forever be at war with someone, forever feeling the same pain over and over. And how violence breeds violence. It's amazing how they did it, really does make you feel on your own why war is bad.

Man, after replaying almost all the mgs and the orignal mg games, I can easily say that Venom had it the hardest. Literally lived a life pretending to be someone else, and in the end dying because of it, and it's not like he had a choice either. The respect I have for that man for knowing his outcome but still continuing to follow Big Boss's plan is increasing everyday.

After listening to this and reading the comments on people's respect towards Venom Snake, it's made me want to state my theory/headcanon on why he wears the bandana. I think at first it was a lingering (but false) connection to The Boss, but after he learns the truth, I think that the bandana is worn by Venom Snake because he idolizes and admires Big Boss. To me it only goes to show how loyal and devoted he was to Big Boss and his goal.

oh man remember listening to this late at the night when im at the ACC drinking tea and waiting for my R&D weapons development to complete..... this game really gave me a unique experience in my whole gaming history that i didnt and will not get like it again.... the era this game came in was the golden age of games for me....i never loved todays games....

The Big Boss persona is all that's left. He doesn't even remember his damn name. He died a dog's death, forgotten and alone, wearing the face of the man who took everything from him. Like a mouse trapped in the cold of a snake, he was wholly and completely consumed by the legend of Big Boss.

I was born on 2008, of course i didn't play the old metal gear ( Just peace Walker and i love it) my first metal gear was MGSV and i still in love with that game, and that's the reason what i played PW and i learned all the story about snakes and the PMC's, the thing is, i love MGSV, its my favorite game of all the time, but there are many people ( i think people older than me) Who criticizes me for my taste or they simply want to force me to play a game that is not from my generation. I love MetalGear although I don't really fit in that well with the fans xd PS: I want to be a diamond dog and listen to this song while returning to mother base ❤❤
mgsv is my first and only one mgs game i've ever played but i immediately fell in love with this game. the story, the song choices, eveything about this game is for my taste. wish i had a playstation in my childhood so that i could've played all mgs games right in time :(

I set my goal of playing all the Metal Gear games in chronologic order along with my granny (she really got attached to the lore and absolutely loves the games). The ending of Peace Walker made us cry a lot, but Ground Zeroes? That destroyed me along with the mother base, I started playing The Phantom Pain with my heart turned into ashes. Now I can't hear this song without dissociating or having fake flashbacks or just thinking about the mother base and the horrible fate of all Snakes, Big Boss, Venom, Solid, Liquid... (fuck Solidus, I hate him). At the end, the wholes series was almost a never-ending vengeance cycle, a cycle that Raiden ended, but it's just painful knowing that no Snake ever met real peace, that peace that they were preaching during all Peace Walker game. Peace ain't an illusion, but peace isn't natural, war is the natural state of men, peace is a consensus, we, humans, by being united and in agreement we create peace, that's why peace is not natural, that's why The Boss wanted to unite the world.
Venom deserved better than the outcome in the first metal gear game I keep thinking of some sort of alternative where he’s still alive only bound to a parasite suit that acts as his life support just because it doesn’t feel right on how he dies so abruptly
It's kind of the point that his fate is unsatisfactory. He was used, and thrown away. His vision for the future differed from Big Boss's, but he couldn't oppose Big Boss's plan; after all, Big Boss is the two of them together. Venom's agency was stripped away from him, reduced to an illusion. If he truly had the power he appeared to, things would have turned out very differently, probably for the better; instead, he died so that Big Boss could live. Venom wasn't satisfied with his fate, so why should we be?
Venom Snake is literally me But like, actually. He's the medic you make at the start of the game. He isn't just me, he's all of us. "I am you, and you are me." Another mission, right Boss?
When you spoil yourself by assuming Mother Base was going to be abandoned anyway when you read "Outer Heaven was created in 198X" in the credits timeline but still feel the phantom pain of all the comrads in the comments who spent time and heart, only to be played....
I used to sit on my dad's knee and watch him play MGS1 as a kid but never had the chance to actually play a MG game until MGSV was released and let me tell you - it actually fucking blew me away. No game can make me feel the way MGSV does. I only bought it because my girlfriend at the time highly recommended it. Since then, I've been in love maybe 2 or 3 times since then and so much in my life has came and gone around me over the years replaying it. It's hard to love a game so much and be so painfully aware of how your life is slipping away around you. It's kind of like loving a woman in a way; in the sense that you're spending months/years of your life for it to one day just disappear. Some of the greatest and worst moments of my 20's have happened around the enjoyment of this game and sometimes I still feel those little 'phantoms' creep up on me when I'm playing. Sometimes it just gets too much to bear and I want to return to the ACC and turn my console or PC off. Sounds mopey, I know, but only MGSV does this to me. As soon as I played it for the first time I knew that this would be my last love in terms of videogames. The ceiling had been reached for me and no other game would be able to top it.
I still remember playing mgs5 and than mgs3 I enjoy the games, when I heard about a disease in mother base I thought we were save them by getting a cure but the cure is killing them

I was born on 2008, of course i didn't play the old metal gear ( Just peace Walker and i love it) my first metal gear was MGSV and i still in love with that game, and that's the reason what i played PW and i learned all the story about snakes and the PMC's, the thing is, i love MGSV, its my favorite game of all the time, but there are many people ( i think people older than me) Who criticizes me for my taste or they simply want to force me to play a game that is not from my generation. I love MetalGear although I don't really fit in that well with the fans xd

mgsv is my first and only one mgs game i've ever played but i immediately fell in love with this game. the story, the song choices, eveything about this game is for my taste. wish i had a playstation in my childhood so that i could've played all mgs games right in time :(

I set my goal of playing all the Metal Gear games in chronologic order along with my granny (she really got attached to the lore and absolutely loves the games).
The ending of Peace Walker made us cry a lot, but Ground Zeroes? That destroyed me along with the mother base, I started playing The Phantom Pain with my heart turned into ashes.
Now I can't hear this song without dissociating or having fake flashbacks or just thinking about the mother base and the horrible fate of all Snakes, Big Boss, Venom, Solid, Liquid... (fuck Solidus, I hate him).
At the end, the wholes series was almost a never-ending vengeance cycle, a cycle that Raiden ended, but it's just painful knowing that no Snake ever met real peace, that peace that they were preaching during all Peace Walker game.
Peace ain't an illusion, but peace isn't natural, war is the natural state of men, peace is a consensus, we, humans, by being united and in agreement we create peace, that's why peace is not natural, that's why The Boss wanted to unite the world.

It's kind of the point that his fate is unsatisfactory. He was used, and thrown away. His vision for the future differed from Big Boss's, but he couldn't oppose Big Boss's plan; after all, Big Boss is the two of them together. Venom's agency was stripped away from him, reduced to an illusion. If he truly had the power he appeared to, things would have turned out very differently, probably for the better; instead, he died so that Big Boss could live.
Venom wasn't satisfied with his fate, so why should we be?

I used to sit on my dad's knee and watch him play MGS1 as a kid but never had the chance to actually play a MG game until MGSV was released and let me tell you - it actually fucking blew me away.
No game can make me feel the way MGSV does. I only bought it because my girlfriend at the time highly recommended it. Since then, I've been in love maybe 2 or 3 times since then and so much in my life has came and gone around me over the years replaying it.
It's hard to love a game so much and be so painfully aware of how your life is slipping away around you. It's kind of like loving a woman in a way; in the sense that you're spending months/years of your life for it to one day just disappear.
Some of the greatest and worst moments of my 20's have happened around the enjoyment of this game and sometimes I still feel those little 'phantoms' creep up on me when I'm playing. Sometimes it just gets too much to bear and I want to return to the ACC and turn my console or PC off.
Sounds mopey, I know, but only MGSV does this to me. As soon as I played it for the first time I knew that this would be my last love in terms of videogames. The ceiling had been reached for me and no other game would be able to top it.
