    Thanks for this. I will like to get clarity on this. Once a POE switch supports 12-36 as power pins then this method can work for two ip camera over one ethernet cable.

      Yes, as long as it supplies power using 12-36 pins.

      If you are sure your POE NVR take 45-78 spare pairs to send the power, it will not work with this low cost solution. You might consider the 1 in 2 out PoE extender. www.fastcabling.com/product/poe-extender/

      This is the link: www.amazon.com/dp/B07G9C7KSL please understand both PoE switch and IP camera should be compatible with IEEE802.3af/at standard. It doesn't work with PoE NVR, as the PoE NVR employ separate twisted 45-78 for power.

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  2 місяці тому

      If the NVR take 45-78 spare twisted pairs to send the power, it will not work. There are 12-36 and 45-78 4-twisted pairs in UTP cat5e cable. Most PoE NVR send the power over 12-36 together with the data, leave 45-78 not used. The adapter employs the not used twisted pairs to connect the second camera. However, if the PoE NVR take the spare twisted pairs 45-78 to send the power which is seperated from the data. You can't re-use the cable to carry the second camera.

    Why with this splitter, when I I test both ethernate cable, there is missing channel one in all 8 channel?

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  5 років тому

      Can you explain "missing channel one in all 8 channel"? The splitter simply seperate your cat5e cable in two group. As you know, only 2 pairs - one group is enough for fast 100mbps Ethernet. If you have choose the correct Etherent PoE switch, the power can be transported as well as the data. You got two group twisted pair after add injector/splitter both side. that is how to power to PoE IP camera.

    Hi
    I have a lorex NVR with PoE function. A cat 6 cable is running to an outdoor camera and working fine. How can I install another camera close to the existing one please? I mean using the same cat6 cable to connect 2 cameras.

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  2 роки тому

      I think you will need to move the cable to your switch at the NVR end. If you need two cameras to the NVR, you can't take the POE port from the Lorex NVR. The NVR will detect the connection automatically and only pick one of the IP address (camera) as video feed. In this case, you can connect the cable to up switch to either reuse the cable or add the 1 in 2 out PoE extender at the edge. www.fastcabling.com/product/poe-extender/

      You might test single camera. if it doesn’t work with single camera, the problem is the PoE NVR use spare pairs to send the power which suppose to carry second camera in your case.

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  3 роки тому

      I suppose both cameras support PoE (Power Over Ethernet), if this is the case, you should examine how to camera get the power from your PoE NVR or PoE switch. This solution only will work if the POE system uses the same twisted pair (12-36) to transmit the power and data which gives you a spare twisted pair (56-78) to send the power and data to second cameras. The other solution is POE extender which can supply two independent POE ports by using a single Ethernet cable. www.fastcabling.com/product/poe-extender/. It doesn't have a requirement for your existed PoE system.

    • @Fastcabling

      It depends on the PoE switch, but not the IP camera. Most of the PoE IP camera accepts power over 1236 or 4578. However, the PoE switch only will choose one path to send the power. If the PoE NVR or switch choose 45-78 to send the power, you can't take 45-78 to carry the PoE for second IP camera.

    i know that gigabit devices need all 8 wires to work but what about poe ip cameras that have specs saying they support both 100/1000 Base-T. Can they work on 4 wires or only 8 wires?

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  3 роки тому

      The 1000mbps bandwidth require 4 twisted pair (8 wire). The 2 twisted pair (4 wire) only can provide 100mbps. As I know, most of the IP camera support and only require 10mbps bandwidth, even you consider the traffic peak, 30mbps is more than enough. Unless what you try to use is the Mutiple sensor camera (one camera has several sensor built-in), I really have no idea why 1000bmps do any help. 4 wire PoE only can transmit 100mbps, that is decided by IEEE802.3 protocols.

      The tplink nc450 is passive PoE device which means the spare twisted cable has been ocuppied to transmit the DC12V power. There is spare twisted pair you can re-use to send the data or power for second tplink nc450. If the camera is standard PoE, there are mutiple solution to extend the PoE port.

      This video discuss how to use one existing cate5/cat6 cable to run two PoE IP cameras. If your existing PoE system use data twisted pair 12-36 to transport both power and data, you got spare un-used twisted pair (45-78) which can carry second PoE IP cameras. You still need two PoE ports at the centers. It doesn't require the network port. It is all about double use the Ethernet cable.

      Are you sure it is the 12-36 power pin you need? Most PoE switch use 12-36 as power pin now. You might see some mid-span power solution on PoE injector or not-standard PoE that has remove the power handshaking (force to inject the power). By the way, the mode A has no problem to supply 1000mbps. The latest poe++ take all twisted pairs to send the power 1236 and 4578. The 45-78 mid span was popular because it is simple to separate the power and data transmission at the beginning, but the PoE technology is very sophisticated now.

      Sorry for the confusion. The cat5e or cat6 cable has 4 twisted pairs. The PoE/PoE+ and the 100Mbps network only take 2 twisted pairs to transmit the power and data. Those two splitter will divide 4 twisted pairs into two group. So you can put two cameras over single cable.
