I'm a guitarist and almost all my musical youtube intake is related to that--- mostly jazz learning and equipment. So I don't follow you all the time. However, I've really enjoyed checking in sometimes for your unique, warm perspective and deep understanding of how songs are put together (sometimes more advanced than I'm ready for, but still good to be exposed to!) I'm glad you're sticking around, Aimee.
I still go back to your motif course on Nebula because it grounds me when I get to "heady" with coming up with melodies. Your content is incredibly valuable as it is on youtube. What you've been doing on Nebula has been priceless!

Aimee, I was one of your early subscribers and I can’t thank you enough for all I have learned from you! Your early videos inspired me to, later in life, follow up on what was a lost dream of mine to learn piano. Eight years later, I am still playing everyday! Indirectly, this has changed not only my life but has also inspired my daughter to pursue her musical dreams too as she studies music at Belmont University. Thank you for all you do and share with us!

Hi Aimee, I'm a big fan of yours, and first started watching your videos at least ten years ago. I'm a piano player too! I started my UA-cam channel on April 10th (last month), and I'm having lots of fun with it! Playing country piano is one of my specialties, so that's what my channel is about. I just wanted to say thank you for creating this video today. While I do have questions about Nebula, it sounds like something I am really interested in! Just know that you are super appreciated by me, and many, many, other people like me, that may never tell you that!

Very interesting Aimee. I'm not leaving UA-cam either. I bought a keyboard 4 years ago at the start of the pandemic. Taught myself to play and started my channel 2 years ago. I've received nothing but positive comments and encouragement to keep learning. I also made friends around the world. Some of my earliest videos are some of my favorites, playing songs like You Are My Sunshine for my mom and late father. 🎹 👍

I was talking with someone just yesterday about how you had given me this life lesson in one of your videos about the importance of listening to new music if you want to continue to "be a part of the conversation," which in hindsight is really obvious but the way you put it was so clear, and drew my attention to the idea like never before.
That's the thing I love about your channel: It's full of these memorable, meaningful moments and asides, like your skateboard trip talking about the dreaded "jazzy," or how your cover of "The Loveliest Girl" ended up being my favorite song of the year one year totally out of left field. Your channel isn't just heartfelt, it also has a really wide reach in subject matter, which I find wonderfully vivacious. (And not super common, since the UA-cam algorithm rewards formulaic consistency.) Even though every video has your distinctive style, I never know what you'll do next.
I'm glad to hear that Nebula has worked so well for you and enabled you to keep going. I don't watch your videos as much as I could, because I'm busy in my own life and I have about a hundred UA-cam subscriptions to channels just as passionate as yours, but I never regret sitting down to spend a few minutes with Aimee Nolte! So thank you, and here's to big things ahead!

I'm working on learning to sing harmony vocals currently and that's how I found (and subscribed to) your channel. I actually found it here first even though I'm subscribed to Nebula too. Thank you for teaching music.
Someday I will figure out how to teach people to sing harmonies better than I have in the past. I’m always thinking about it…but there are four “everyone can harmonize” videos on UA-cam. Thanks for signing up for Nebula
I watched and took note on the first two of those videos this week. The second one is a challenge for me. I saved a snippet of the audio with just the singing, and I'll be practicing with that during the week. I think I'm the kind those videos are made for because I got serious about learning to play at 42 and I don't have any family background in music. Matching singing pitch to the original melody is a tough reflex to resist.
Thank you for this heartfelt, frank information. I had thought about Nebula before, but it was never clear if the annual fee was for just your channel, or all the content. You answered that.

That's great news madame Nolte... Glad to hear that youtube+nebula can make a significant payback of your precious efforts. You have a beautiful style of your own, and further you still seem to have potential to add varieties to your content. That's all up to your wishing of course. You compose, you play, you sing, and you improvise, and do it really skilfully... In short, you are very good at what you do. This new media platform is still in chaos phase and what will be its future course is simply unclear, lets see where it evolves.
One-on-one teaching is exhausting. How brilliant of you to put those lessons out as videos! I always enjoy your videos. I'm so glad you are doing well!!! I will go check out Nebula. Thanks for all your coaching.

I'm so glad you put out this video and talked about Nebula. I use to have a subscription to Nebula when it was a package deal with Curiosity Stream. That partnership went away and although i was still charged automatically for Curiosity Stream, Nebula was no longer included. I meant to re-subscribe to Nebula but I got busy and out-of-sight, out-of-mind. I just paused your video at 9:29 and went and re-upped my annual subscription to Nebula. I re-subscribed not only because I like what they offer. Moreso because of how you explained how good Nebula is to the creators and what a difference they are making for the livelihood and treatment of the creators who pour so much of their time and themselves into making content for us to enjoy. I renewed because of YOU and creators like you who should be able to live comfortably given how many people benefit from your creations. Thank you for what you do! Ok, now back to watching the rest of the video.

I agree that it's draining taking on students. You can't really teach music. You give them the information and they teach themselves. There's no better instructor than the motivated student.

I did for a while…most people I talk to about YT watch nothing but tik tok which is apparently how people get their information these days, they are these little 3 second snippet videos where an the entire history of a given subject is broken down in the course of seconds. 3 to be exact! crazy huh?
I don't see why anyone would think it's better. There used to be a lot of meaningful videos, which has now been overrun by clickbait titles and shock-and-awe content ("I put bass guitar strings on my acoustic guitar and you wouldnt BELIEVE what happened!"). The algorithm has gotten really terrible, and the search function is awful now infusing real search results with this "recommended for you" trite. If you've already found your little oases from time and experience, places where people are putting valuable content up, I can understand that, but man, it's so so bad now, even the good content creators have to make a choice between making a pittance or leaning fully into the algorithm and thereby pushing out slop. UA-cam shorts (I want dopamine and I want it NOW) have also really put YT in a nosedive
