I agree we should have paid Trey Hendrickson but idk about Marcus Williams he has battled more injuries with the Ravens than he ever did with us.
Now it made since at the time to pay Michael Thomas although in hindsight it looks awful. However I wouldn’t say that we did wrong to pay Kamara sure his production has declined but he has still made a lot of nice plays for us and he is our all time touchdown leader so I wouldn’t say we were wrong to pay Kamara!
You can still love the player and say he did not live up to the worth of his contract. It's the sad reality. Alvin has not come close to his production pre 2020, regardless of who's calling plays, he doesn't move like the same guy
Duce was electric! First time i saw him he took a kickoff back for a TD and had 10 carries for like 115 in his first preseason game..My favorite player
just like mccaffery in carolina, I think kamara was in the same boat with carmichael and can explode in this offense (if o-line is competent). I wouldnt give him a boatload, but appreciation for a dude that put up good numbers over the years and had us screaming whodat! when he got his hands on the ball. i would rather see him put up horrible numbers for another year than him rocking and rolling in denver.
QB play, AK had less targets in the last 3 years, then he had his whole career ... he caught on average 80 passes. But they used im as a power back carrying 200+ times in the last 3 seasons which he's never been. He is the only 2017 RB who is still on the team that drafted him ... he won't play for the Saints this season, KC, Steelers, or Denver. AK is smarter than any QB thats on the Saints roster.
@@alphasports3743 I think they play him this year, and I saw somewhere he wants two years and thats doable. I doubt if he wants an over the top contract but there is some kind of conflict going on between the two for him to walk out of minicamp so who knows. besides sean payton, I dont think you get much trade value and they cant cut him. cant see it playing out anywhere but nola for 2 more

His production has nothing to do with his play ... faulty QBs was the main reason why the Saints offense sputtered. AK has never carried the ball 200+ times but had too because of bad play-calling and a QB who chose not to follow his progressions.
Exactly. Derrick Henry has better recent production and signed 2 yr at $8m per. Kamara set to make $12m this yr is an overpay based on recent production. I don't see how the team benefits by continuing to overpay him. Outstanding player, still has juice left, but he's under contract at a highly paid number and the team has the leverage. Play out your deal and earn an extension. Otherwise holdout and crash your own value.

This type of offense and as long as the O-line keeps the zone open any rb can have success, but with Miller being younger and the way he attacks the hole.. he should have some monster games this season. Plus he not really feeling the pressure to produce... that's normally when a rb comes out of nowhere!!
Kamara was a great player three years ago. What have you done for the team 2:47 lately. Let him play out this year on his contract and then either give him a two year deal or release him. If he sucks and the wheels fall off the cart then release him or trade him.
So Matt this new offensive scheme involves a lot of AK just like CMC on 49ers. The Saints can’t afford for AK not to play.
The saints could of signed Barkley's this off season if it wasn't for AKs contract. I don't see AK getting more than 10 million anywhere else.

Kamara is a team leader,pass catcher who has horrible cosches current, and in the past. Both needs to step up.

I said it before & I’ll say it again, if given a choice, Matt would prefer the Saints be the worst team in the NFL in 2024, if it means they blow everything up & fire everyone, than the Saints win the the Superbowl for the 2024 season and continue on with DA & DC for at least the next 5 years.
What’s important about this hypothetical choice is, if reveals, some people are willing to pass up on guaranteed actual success for a year, on the hope that their ideological belief will deliver multiple years of success, when that blow it up & draft a QB strategy has failed as much if not more than any other strategy attempted.
But for some reason, people have absolutely convinced themselves that it provides a better chance of success, with ZERO data to back up that belief.
For some reason, they just believe it, I’m not sure why?

Tom Brady’s 7 & Mahomes 3 Superbowls didn’t use that strategy, so there’s 10 of 24 superbowls accounted for.

woah woah woah...Kamara is NOT a declining player. He had to deal with a declining system. No matter how good your back is, there needs to be some type of lane and also play calling that goes to that player's strengths. AK would still be a top RB in the NFL if not for the past 3 years...that's what killed his numbers.

AK has no business carrying 200 times a season, he's the most balanced RB in the NFL. When you backup QB has to go against the HC to get the guy who they brought in to score TDs after leading the NFL in TDs the previous season it tells me, they were plotting to get rid of AK who had 16 TDs 2 years prior with less carries and started doing this guy the same. The Plan is to play the RBs less based on their lack of production cause by the bad QB play.
