  • I was going to look at a series 1 that has been on the market for some time that I thought was good value. To my surprise I discovered some very interesting other vehicles #thecollectableauctionhouse

    My husband was out in our MkV today. It was a wedding car with a fresh pink slip when we bought it. Put it up on the hoist when we first got it home & found so many dangerous defects my husband spent months getting it to a stage where he felt safe driving it. Its a beautiful looking car & gets along very well for a big heavy 74 year old car.

    Regrettably, I’ve just had to sell my Series 1 4.2, gutted to say goodbye to it after so many years but it’s always wonderful to see a similar car. My absolute favourite model 👏

    Nice one Brett ... The S1 is sitting a bit low up front, the rear boot underside seems to not be correct, the weld points should be towards the boot floor, may be a panel patch, Shame on the oil seal leak, needs TLC and it's a stunner .
    I don't think the chrome waist line is original , but it fits well with the car. Love the mk5... Must buy one I think.. keep up the good work

    I think $8k pretty cheap for that. While watching I was thinking min. $12k. Had way more than $8k spent. I guess thought of engine out to fix oil leak was straw that broke camels back for previous owner. I thought she was a bit sagged at the front???? Anyway interesting exercise thanks Brett. .

    Lot of car for not a lot of money. I had made an offer on this a lot earlier, unseen. Appreciate your insight. Still a good car and not far off the right price. (In my opinion. )

      Hi Warren
      I think 6 would buy it, but you would want to check that oil leak first. It may be coming out of the small oil pump hose to the filter with a bit of luck

    Nice series 1 but I suspect it would take a lot to make it right.

    Happy New Year. It's weird how it started without a visible choke. The chrome door strips are American car spec. The low front I think is a broken front coil spring. The lower rear panel looked like it had been riveted on. The front nearside tyre was bald. The brake fluid green colour reminded me of the old Girling green fluid. (It could be original and therefore not safe). You are right it probably needs quite a bit of work to make it usable again. Take care.

    My grandad had a pink series 1 with a pink interior much darker pink than that, and he said that was Heather? Like a Barbie car 😂 stunning!.. it was a uk car, so it will be long gone now 😢it says a lot when even in your climate, they rust. I'm definitely a jag man though xj especially

    Hate the leaper on the Series 1 !
    And the side strips !

      @johnpoile1451 6 місяців тому

      The only good thing about the strips is as a guard against opening doors parked alongside.

      As do I, just bought a ‘73 with a leaper, first thing I did was remove it….now I’ve got to fill the holes a respray the bonnet. 😢 Hoping to get away with just the centre section and blend at the section change

      Hard call with the cars. they're all good. Probably the x350 has the best ride

    • @46spanner
      @46spanner 6 місяців тому

      Jaguars, when developing the series 1, put a tremendous effort into ride, handling and NVH, they would change the shore hardness of all the rubber bushing in increments of 5 until they got the balance right
