Heard that iDestroIT wants to buy Toronto's old elevated trains (of the same system), 12 cars. It's good news for iD but they definitely need double tracks in suitable places to get pass by each other train and thus organize 2-ways motion
The Detroit People Mover has the bones to be a decent rapid-transit system! All it needs is a two-way operational configuration and an aggressive expansion plan that involves breaking out of the downtown core into adjacent mixed residential /commercial districts that would serve to benefit from a richer array of public transit options than is currently offered. While it likely will never be on par with Vancouver's SkyTrain, certainly there is political opportunity and ridership demand for something far more beneficial to the wider city!
Yes!!!!! The TTC Scarborough RT is still here with us!!! I can hear that distinctive motor. 1:15 Even the TTC chime is still there? I’m going to Detroit
Interesting to see the new construction happening. Like that new highrise at 15:32 which seems to be fairly large. Perhaps the city is headed in the right direction again.
With strategically located passing sidings this could be a two-way operation. It makes no sense to have to travel all the way around to go back one or two stops.
So many buildings were torn down and replaced with parking lots and garages that what used to be a dense downtown urban core now feels like a suburban office park. Hopefully the city, metro area, and their citizens can reverse this and build an areawide skytrain. Fun fact! There's an indoor skytrain inside Terminal 'A' of the Detroit Metropolitan Airport. I took to shave 10 minutes off walking from one end of the terminal to the other. Very nice experience!
It’d be cool if they expanded the people mover instead of pouring money into QLine, transporting people around downtown is cool but having trains going out to where people actually live would be nice.
I'd (still) like to see the addition of a switch track and route north along Woodward Avenue to the Edsel Ford Freeway and then have it split east & westbound and connecting to both the City & Metro Airports. You can blame the cab companies for helping put a stop to that thought....for right now.
All stations ranked. 13:Brick town. Nothing there everything at Greek town. 12:West riverfront. Haven’t replaced the signs when was Joe Lewis arena. 11:Financial District. Too big of gap and barely nothing there and has very bad power 10:Rennicance center. Ugly and milerden center is way better 9:Fort/Cass. Mid 8:Cadillac Center. Looks ugly. 7:Michigan. Very bumpy also art is shit there. 6: grand circus park. Q lines conections and that’s it. No art I belive what so ever 5: Times Square: RPTC is there but is really bumpy 4:Greektown. Lots of stuff there but gets overcrowded a lot. 3:Broadway. Like the art and not Crowed. 2:Millerden Center. Really good I like the lights and has good railfanning ability. 1:Cobo Center. Indoors has heating and A/C art is nice
Considering it opened in the late 80s, the ridership is terrible. It should have been double tracked by now. If ut was, I'm sure it would be much more popular.
It's feast or famine. It's actually very helpful to come in from the burbs, park all over downtown and then take People Mover to the venue where the play/concert/sporting event is happening. It's pretty crowded during those times
The Detroit People Mover is such a great train to get around Downtown Detroit, especially viewing Windsor, Ontario, Canada on the other side
such a beautiful, clean, and lovely downtown

I wish it was double-tracked originally

That's the Hudson site development.
Doubt it Detroit is dead bro

Love this! Move videos like this please!
The haunting sounds and chime of the people mover alwasy gets me🤣
Hey Tim! I rode the People Mover in Detroit Michigan before in 2016 and 2017!

Fantastic video. Fond memories.
Ty for this brother
1:14 my god that bell wants to die
This will be familiar technology to anyone who has ridden Vancouver's Skytrain. Wow, all those curves, and empty stations!
yeah the skytrain has way more usage
Cool people mover👌💚
Stations are so close.

No no no we don't want the criminals having an express route to the suburbs
@@himhim3344 okay fine, the criminals can just steal your car instead!
Jimmy Carter wanted it to happen, but Coleman Young had to run his mouth!
id say this is better than a metro

If there are no people to move, is a People Mover really a People Mover?

Doesn't seem like it has too many passengers. Nice peaceful ride
America made its own DLR
I'd say the new line in Honolulu is more like the DLR than this is...
Wow downtown is a ghost town.
👏🏿👍🏿
✌🏾
Ok video

I think the streetcar will really help it...
Что-то людей не видно не на одной станции, даже как-то жутко если ехать одному.
It is now a free ride service😅😅
Seems like everyone realizes it’s much faster to walk.
pretty empty city..?
Most of these videos i see are shot on a sunday, different 6 days a week here

More like the mugger mover😂
