  • Pandebono Colombian Cheese Bread is the 1st installment in our new series: Pan, which is Spanish for bread. Pandebono is a Colombian bread that is made primarily of cheese. Since it's hard to find the traditional Colombian Costeño cheese, we used a combination of queso fresco and feta cheese. This Colombian cheese bread can be enjoyed for breakfast or as a snack and is gluten-free. I prefer it for breakfast with a nice hot cup of Cafe La Llave espresso which we show you how to make an "old school" pour over. This Pandebono recipe is super easy to make! Make it Sabroso!‪@DXGUSA‬
    Ingredients
    3/4 cup yuca flour (tapioca starch)
    1/4 cup Pan masarena (arepa corn flour)
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. Kosher salt (or to taste)
    1 cup queso fresco, crumbled
    1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
    1 large egg
    Milk (as needed)

    Recipe Correction: At the beginning of the video, I mentioned that the corn flour I used was the Maseca brand, this was an error (the container was labeled wrong). I actually used the Pan brand of masarepa (arepa corn flour). The list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the video description. My apologies for any confusion. :)

    I didn't know they had cassava cheese bread in Colombia. Pão de Queijo culture is so strong in Brazil I could swear there was nothing more Brazilian thant it, but I discovered it was invented in Paraguai hundreds of years before arriving here: CHIPA.

Colombians love to tell me that we used to be part of Colombia, but we succeeded. I'm 1903. The next thing they tell me is how shitty my Spanish is. So it is no wonder why we succeeded. But I love you guys, and there are many places in Tampa to find it.. Me gusta mucho pero Quito haserlo myself. Thank you for the video. I'll try it tomorrow.... Bien provecho compa...

    5th receipe online that I will try. I am crossing my fingers! Have spent so much money trying to make them. But I used the Mexican Maseca Flour and it was awful. But you said Arepa flour, so PAN flour?

      @Sabrosollc  Рік тому

      Hi Diane! Yes, sorry for the confusion. I mentioned at the beginning of the video that it was the Maseca brand, but it was mislabeled. I pinned a comment explaining the mix-up, but the corn flour I used was indeed the Pan masarena or masarepa. A list of ingredients and amounts is in the video description. Let me know how they turn out! Thanks for watching!

      I have to thank you Lidy for bringing up something that I didn't pick up on until our conversation. I was very confused as to why I used Maseca instead of Pan masarena (which I had in my video shoot notes). Come to find out that the Pan masarena was mislabeled as Maseca brand. This was confirmed when I found a whole bag of the Maseca flour lol. Sorry for the confusion and thank you again because I probably never would have picked up on it.

      I suppose you can but then it’s not a pandebono. The yuca flour gives it a texture that can’t be compared with other flours. Although yuca flour does have carbs, it is gluten-free, if that helps. Thanks for watching and your reply. 🙏🏾

      I used the Pan white because that’s the only one my local store carries. Most people use the yellow. I believe you can achieve similar color if you experiment with time or temperature. You can also use an egg wash to lightly brush on the pan de bono (although not traditional).

      Masarepa is more of a fine corn flour, so using regular won’t give you the same texture results. You can take regular corn flour and process it in a food processor to get that finer texture. I also have it linked in my Amazon storefront (link in video description)
