    Well done Viktor and Balasz! You didn't kill Chewbacca 😉 You've made it look fresh and crisp again, awesome! This is just something we all need to do every once in a while, so this video is really great for us amateurs. Shows us we should be bold 👍and not afraid to do so.

    Hi guys ,only just caught up on this vlog. The tank was really getting to a point where the hardscape was not even visible and the whole tank was just one big mass of moss. Very bold idea Balazs,but I have to say that the tank now looks amazing once again, a complete transformation, with so much space and definition. It will grow in nicely and become another stunning scape. Congratulations on your 10 year birthday and may you go from strength to strength. Fantastic video Balazs. Quick question... Whenever I added more soil or changed hardscape slightly and kicked up detritus into the water column...even after a water change...I see dead cherry shrimp. I always loose 1 shrimp after a major change : removing stems and repotting top of stems into soil. It seems like any change involving disrupting the soil leads to ammonia or something that kills sensitive shrimp or in one case, it killed a otocinculus. Note...I did do a big 70% water change after these big changes.

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  5 років тому +1

      It depends on the condition of the soil, really. you gotta be really careful disturbing the substrate. We have 1-year-old Amazonia in the tank, and note that I did not uproot the plants I just trimmed them as low as possible, and used new soil on top. With a method like this and cycled filters you should not really have Ammonia spikes.

    En situaciones así, lo que me preocupa son los peces y las gambas, sobre todo los alevines en el momento de sacar los restos de plantas, con el agua turbia, no se ve nada y tengo miedo de cogerlos con la red. Buen trabajo y duro 👏👏

    I'm new to aquascaping, and my first project is quite detailed in a 120 gallon...I have a lot of these plants. Is this what happens from lack of regular trimming? Or can I expect to have to rescape every year or so? Very informative video and I love this channel!!!

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  5 років тому

      Well, it depends on what your goals are. Some (even us with most cases) love to have a new scape every year - or more often - in their tanks, some like to have it for a longer run, this tank - a tribute to Mr. Takashi Amano was something we wanted to keep for a little while longer, so this is why we did what we did. Yeah, don't let it grow too much, it'll cause all kinds of problems.

    "DISCUS and PLANTED AQUASCAPES never go along with each other". Heard this today in the morning. Discus need a warm environment and plants prefer a not too warm environment. But I have seen many people have discus in their planted tanks. Can you guys do a full review on this topic? Please!

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  5 років тому +1

      Well in a tank like that fish is the top priority and their health. You can have plants easily, but the ones which tolerate the warm water condition. Also because of the increased feeding and waste you will face more frequently with algae issues.

      Thanks! Glad you like our vids mate. Well, we did not do a separate video on plant fertilizing as we think that is one of the most straightforward processes in a planted tank. We just add 1 ml / 20 liter of Green Aqua Micro / Macro or ADA ferts (Minderal and Brighty K) daily, with a weekly 50% water changes and that's it. Might mention it in one of the future videos though, thanks for pointing that out. Cheers. 👍🏻

      Snails are a problem with tanks that do not have biological equilibrium. We experienced that when the system gets stabile their numbers normalize. You can get Assassin Snails to eat them, but then you can't have decoration snail in there if you want, because they will eat them too.

      We do use Green Aqua GH Plus (salts) to raise the TDS back from 7 to 120 right after we filled the tank up, and before we re-start the filter after the water change. Then we use plant fertilizers that we add to the tank on the daily basis, these are two separate things.

    Wow, that was horrifying !!! That tank went to war and back again. Up until this point I was just seeing the beauty of these tanks but not the labor that goes behind it. As I was watching I too thought you needed to be bold and tear it out and start over again. The final result is gorgeous. I have a few questions: Is the tank at 1:51 the same as the tank here? Was this tank originally created by Mr. Amano? If so, how faithful to Mr. Amano's exact vision do you feel that you need to be? It's kind of sad to think that eventually all of Mr. Amano's tanks will disappear and all we will have is photographic records of them. I could be wrong. Maybe there is a movement to conserve Mr. Amano's work exactly as it was created. Hopefully in 100 years people will see Mr. Amano's work in its authenticity.

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 роки тому

      There are still 4 tanks of Mr. Amano preserved in the ADA Gallery, check that video out.
      The tank in question is an Amano tank at the ADA Gallery in 2013. That's when we first visited there and met him in person.
      Maintenance is key. If you neglect a tank you end up in this state. The goal is regular maintenance and to keep it constantly in good shape. There's no need for big maintenances like this then.
