For a guy who speedruns RE4 for a living, his gaps in knowledge are kind of insane. For example, not knowing that all the blue medallions are only in the farm and the church. Also, forgetting that you need to bring Ashley with you through doors. Not knowing that enemies with torches can only do one type of attack (either blowing fire or swinging the torch, never both). And he said that he'd never visited the lake merchant before. Great entertainer anyway.
I dont agree. For me its no surprise a speedrunner dont know well a huge part of the game. Ill make you an exemple. In my country(Italy) there was this streamer that was a OG re fan. He liked re4 and played it a lot. He even speedrunned it. A few month ago this guy decided he wanted to take the Italian speedrun record in RE2 Remake. Before that he played the game only 2 times but to speedrun it he just studied a speedrun guide and watched what the top speedrunners did. In like a month he learned the speedrun and took the record but to a matter of fact he was no expert in the game by that point. He often needed an heal and didnt know where to get it, he didnt visited all the rooms, he didnt pick up a lot of items eccc... All that to say that speedrunning is not about knowing the game deep but just know very well and mechanically a small part of it. To speedrun you dont need to know all the items locations, all ester eggs, all game mechanics ecc... you just need to learn a few things very well to be able to do thegame really fast. Speedrunners knows really well the speedrun part but often are not familiar with all that is not part of the speedrun cause they ignore it and dont care about learning it for what they need.
@@achillezop8811 I don't agree with this mentality personally (the one I'm about to talk about after this sentence) but I think what you are describing right here, is what makes non speed runners absolutely hate speedrunners. Like I said I don't personally agree with it all the way, but there is some merit to how they feel imo. Like for me, If I knew somebody had never played Re 1 or re2 etc and they just hop in just to learn the speedrun without actually playing the game, personally that would semi get on my nerves. Not to the point where I would ever shit on the person or something, but to where I would be annoyed that they are missing out on such a genuinely good experience before "breaking the game etc" that being said, if you've already played a game casually, and break the fuck out of it afterwards, become a top runner, and there still might be some things you don't know because you're not that deep, who gives af. Like I said deep down I don't really care that much either way, I'm still going to enjoy runners and speedrunning etc, but I feel like the point you made does help articulate why this is hatred for speedrunners that have never played said games before on the outside looking in.

From one side I feel you should always do a first playthrough of a game as blind and casual as possible that way you can soak up as much as possible. On the other hand because I use skips all the time in DS1 I constantly find myself completely blanking on common item locations. Like for instance because for the last few years I've always done lower undead burg skip, the last time I was playing and going for an all bosses run I completely blanked on where the key for normally accessing lower undead burg even spawns. I'm also really bad about remembering titanite locations because I usually use black Knight weapons which use twinkling titanite. So it's very possible that it's just been so long since he has done a run not using speed strats that he has just completely forgotten where a lot of stuff is. heck in DS1 I will all the time see an animation I didn't even know could happen because I just never met the specific parameters for it to play.
Quick question: does the Cabin section require the player to kill a certain amount of enemies or can Luis kill them for you? It would take a lot more time, but I just wondered!
I dont know about impossibile but surely it feels harder. I feel like knife is more heavy to dont use in the remake compared to original cause parry and some section like water room in remake requie you to shoot. Still in remake merchant refound you a lot if you sell upgraded weapons so maybe you can manage in some way. The real question is if bosses are dooable since they feels like mega bullet sponges expecially salazar and saddler, Mendez too cause in early game you dont have that much upgrades aviable
@@SilviaIuri Salazar is easy ; all you need is a golden egg plus 5 bb rounds (w maxed out damage). For Mendez I agree. All you can use is 5 weapons tops and only if you have enough resources to make attachable mines for thrower in order to kill the first form fast it might be doable. I'm worrying about Cabin fight more and especially Krauser because the merchant is far and inaccessible after you enter for the first skirmishes which require few Magnum rounds.
You comment on submitting speedruns to GDQ at 4:36:15 - these insane challenge runs are significantly more entertaining, more enjoyable to watch and tbh evidence of more skill than straight speedruns. I assume this is true both for ppl that love watching speedruns and casual ppl just coming across your channel. Rly cool you fully embraced it and dropped the knife and grenades too. The latter are all the same and overdone - competing for seconds. It wouldn't have been obvious to me that a run with these constraints was even possible. Not sure what you could do next - you brought up the "forced melee". Instead of only subscriptions you might consider putting up a single donation option for batshit insane challenge runs that you'll attempt once a donation threshold is cleared.

It’s both, you have to kill 40 enemies but Luis kills add to that
