      When my 2 sons were young they had to help me with housework. Told my husband that they are going to learn. He said “they are boys “

    I'm not sure it is the grossest thing. My mother-in-law was a little girl in the great depression & whenever we've had to help her clean her cupboards, there is usually something way past its expiration date. She pulled out some chocolate milk powder once that I think was over 40 years old. It was so hard in the bottom we couldn't even pry any out. Those kinds of things we have to sneak into the garbage can because she won't throw them away. It always helps me to feel grateful that I have never known a time where so many had so very little.

    I keep a black marker in my pantry and whenever I bring any kind of canned or packaged item I make sure to write the expiration date right in the front where I can see it. Works for me.

    • @painwarriorprincess5120
      @painwarriorprincess5120 2 роки тому +3

      I do the same - when the package is a dark color, I use a silver ink marker. Writing the date myself makes it so much faster & easier to read than those small print codes that we often have to hunt around for on the package. It also makes it clear to me which ingredients I should use first. I've made some interesting and tasty dishes with products / ingredients I never would've thought to combine had they not been in the "gotta use this soon" basket in my pantry!😊

    The childhood memory of finding the bag of grapes I left in my dads van that turned into raisins. In case your wondering they DO NOT taste like store bought raisins 🤪 my favorite hack for getting a steam finish without a steamer is taking a wash cloth and ringing it with water. I pop it in the microwave for 45 seconds and let it cool for 45 seconds. I can use it on counter tops and other surfaces. It breaks down gunk just like a steamer would.

Your giving great advice. The thing was a spice can that was from my Granma's cupboard and it was kind of brown red, not
    bright red because of age and it was from back in the 90's. Cinnamon I think, of course I tossed it.

    I love my steam cleaners. I have a small handheld model and a big floor model that dispenses an hour's worth of higher power steam.
    I used a shsmpoo bar once and liked it very much. I wish I knew where to find one again. Failing that, I use mounted dispensers near the sink, shower, and tub so I can meter the number of pumps. That saves on bottles cluttering up the surfaces.

      Use a good degreaser, like Dr Bronners Sal Suds, even a tbsp of ammonia to a half pail of water will do it.

    Thank you for this! The home I just bought has such greasy cabinets 😳 it’s pretty gross... any advice about the grease stain on the ceiling above the stove area? Pretty sure the previous owner was all about cooking with a ton of grease

      Ceiling paint is a tough one to clean because it marks so easily. Perhaps lightly sanding the area and doing a quick pass with some paint might be the most effective way to deal with the stains.

    You're making me want to go out and get a steam cleaner!
    The grossest thing I cleaned out of a cupboard was iodine that had spilled in the top shelf of our bathroom. It was stinky, thick, and gross. I was a teenager and my older siblings made me clean it. 😝

    The grossest thing I’ve ever had to clean out of my cupboard was rotten onions 🧅 🤢. I can’t help but wonder if there is an expiration date on that taco kit; I bet those kids pictured on the box have kids of there own now 🤣
