Oh my gosh! This brings tears to my eyes. These were the golden years of television. How gorgeous is this? Pretty, sad, reflective and haunting are all adjectives that could describe this masterpiece. Now THIS is music!
Seem as though a harmony is hard to find, always on my mind. And frustrated days pass without sight. The Edge of Night, half dark, half light. As we watch our hearts tryin’ to hold a tenderness that we once had Halfway glad, and halfway sad. The Edge of Night, half dark, half light. Do you think we might wake up some day? be aware of all the games people play. Living circles of unendin’ strife, as we look for life. And nothin’s wrong, and nothin’s right. The Edge of Night, half dark, half light. Watchin’ all the lonely hearts passin’ out of sight. The Edge of Night.
The vocal version would always play whenever ABC would run the cast credits....Nancy Karr....Ann Flood, Mike Karr....Forrest Compton, Bill Marceau....Mandel Kramer, and so on.
Hal Sims would say tune in again tomorrow or on Monday for THE EDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDGE OF NIGHT!!!, and he would also say this program was pre - recorded............. Stay tuned for Love of Life which follows on most these same CBS stations.................... this is Hal Sims inviting you to join us each weekday afternoon for THE EDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDGE OF NIGHT!!!!
at one point ('72-'73) ''Love is a Many-Splendored Thing'' followed EoN..LoL never followed EoN while it was still on CBS..from April '79 to Feb. '80, LoL and EoN aired at the same time: 4:00/e on CBS and ABC respectively....
@@dannyhill8797 correct about the official airing times of LOL & EON at 4PM EST from 4/1979 until 2/1/1980 (when last LOL episode aired). However, in many areas the CBS and/or ABC affiliate either preempted the program or aired it earlier in the day on a tape delay. For example, until the very end, my then CBS affiliate WCAU aired LOL at noon (but on a day's delay); also, my ABC affiliate WPVI didn't carry EON period - instead UHF station WKBS carried EON, somehow taping it from the ABC feed and airing it on a 2 week delay - at 10:30AM?! BUT WKBS went off the air at the end of August 1983 so I don't know what happened with the final year and 4 months of EON.
That's right I forgotten that The Edge of Night have moved to ABC on December 1st, 1975 then Hal Sims would say this is Hal Sims inviting you to join us each weekday afternoon for THE EDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDGE OF NIGHT
just as the times Hal Sims subbed for Harry Kramer, he never gave his name when announcing during the closing of EoN on ABC: it was always 'we invite you to join us.........'.....
if i remember right, someone said it was one of its composers: Jack Cortner, who also sang the second version of this theme and the closing vocal to SFT (1974-78) as well...
Rocky Racoon No it wasn't. Prior to Edge Y&R had a vocal version of their theme and Search had a vocal version of theirs also be Courtner and Barranco for Elliott Lawrence Productions

Bad ass theme song. Nothing about it is sugar coated for liberals. No safe zones for the liberals here. Sung for a cancelled soap opera. Should be sung again.

The murder mysteries on this show were always “top notch” and very well written! I can still remember when Nola killed Margo, now that was good one!
The 1970 Stephanie Martin murder was fantastic. A stunner when the real killer was exposed.
I forget exactly why Nola Madison killed Margo Dorn.
Nola wanted to marry Elliot Dorn. Margot wouldn’t give him a divorce
Sounds like a James Bond opening
