    The multi talented sports journalist and broadcaster, Taylor Rooks, joins the Pivot to talk all topics from working as a female in sports, to dealing with physical appearance being a career factor to overcoming questions about her personal life while trying to keep the headlines focused on her interviews, not who she’s dating.
    Taylor shares her story and how she carved a niche for herself as one of the top females interviewers in sports media and how the climb in the industry is a struggle everyday.
    Channing comes right out and addresses the rumors swirling the internet about her personal relationships which she says is frustrating but always false! “Just because I stand next to someone or have chemistry in an interview doesn’t mean I’m dating them,” Taylor responded.
    Fred dives into the what they future holds for Taylor and if motherhood is something she is worries about affecting her career and Ryan talks about how the industry is changing and the respect Taylor has earned from the exclusive access to interviews she’s done.
    Tackling each day, Taylor shared wisdom she took from Serena Williams about always striving to be be better from one day to the next.
    The Pivot releases new episodes every Tuesday at Noon eastern with Special Pivot moments dropping on Fridays.

    I like how she went back to revisit the conversation about clothing accentuating her body. She was able to have a teachable moment without coming off as combative or defensive. Shout out to Ryan Clark too. He drove the point home with the example of his daughter. Over all great interview. Love the Pivot and Taylor Rooks

    • @HomeVidEdd
      @HomeVidEdd 2 роки тому +6

      The thing is that if she would've let him finish the question she would've understood more why he was posing the question that why. And plus, almost all of us are wearing clothes that accentuates the good parts of our bodies. She's not sexualizing her body with her clothes nor she is picking outfits that accentuates parts of her body bc those clothes look good. The point she made was one that they all agreed with that she doesn't really have a choice bc of her genetics and God-given figure.

    • @winnumber101
      @winnumber101 2 роки тому +10

      Yeah it really wasn't a fair point for Channing to make--like if I'm tall, am I actually wearing clothes that accentuate my height or am I just simply tall and am wearing clothes? the appeal of Taylor already exists regardless, there's not much she can do about that

      That's complete bullshxt lol she knows she dresses for attention and so guys can verify her looks, it drives a women's ego. Let's stop playing games now. Just have humility and say, I want to look good for myself and presentable to others. That's the least you can do. The modern women, destiny child, master's degree, mindset of women have destroyed their perception of reality. Case closed.

This is such an amazingly powerful conversation & so relatable, especially as a woman who works with a ton of men just literally trying to do her best and be the best at what she does. It's so inspiring to see her confidence as a woman, even more so as a successful black woman in her line of work. This convo was needed, especially the part about how a black woman's body just automatically changes the way clothes fits her. Channing was allowed to ask the question and he wasn't admonished for not knowing the reason. He learned and in turn we learned. I honestly never thought of it that way until watching this interview, thank you.

    • @HomeVidEdd
      @HomeVidEdd 2 роки тому +2

      Honestly, I don't think he learned anything new. She just didn't like his wording even though he was right. Almost all of us are wearing clothes that accentuates the good parts of our bodies. The point she made was one that they all agreed with that she doesn't really have a choice outside of oversized suits or sweatsuits. So basically, he wanted to ask if she feels like it's being more accepted for her to wear clothes that fit. She kinda touched it but didn't really get to that.

      Disclaimer (I’m a black man) I understand what she is saying but at the same time I think she didn’t answer the question correctly. I know where the pivot we’re coming from with the question. We can’t sit here and act like things haven’t changed over the years standards haven’t dropped, morals haven’t dropped, responsibility hasn’t dropped. I remember sweatsuits being semi-baggy attire, nowadays they are skin tight cat/ body suits showing everything. Sweatsuits were reserved for workouts and home wear. Now women try to wear those clothes in professional work spaces and you are the enemy, if you say anything about it. That’s just 1 example I have many I can say

      This. And I also wonder if anyone else peeped: The camera never went / panned below chest level for the panel for the entire interview. even during her shape/clothes conversation. "Forcing" the audience to listen to what she was saying vs what she was wearing.
      Channing is hilarious and innocent. lol You can tell he was well-intentioned but had Ryan not stepped in, it definitely would have went left. lol

    Exceptional interview. Also props to the production crew - if you look closely they have the frame carefully set to not show any of her body. All the other interviews have full body shots, and the teachable moments were great too.

    These 3 gentlemen simply make people feel COMFORTABLE...even when they're asking uncomfortable or not so pretty questions. This is why this podcast is the best one out there. They leave their own egos at the door and LISTEN to UNDERSTAND versus LISTENING to RESPOND. Yeah. That way.
