    I love watching guys in short sleeves and shorts welding. Bonus points for doing it in flip flops. :0)
    I'll be getting this kit. Thumbs up!

      Do y’all still offer the 14 bolt conversion? It won’t let me add to cart

    Great video! Gonna watch it for bearing preload

    It’s a good idea to put some oil on the wheel bearings. Gear oil doesn’t get out unless you tilt the axle house.

      Good suggestion, we’ll keep that in mind.

    I've watched this video several times to see how you removed the 2 factory brackets on the emergency brake cable from the drum backing plate. It appears that they just magically disappeared 😊. I think I can get one of them off with a cutoff wheel but I don't know about the other one. I wish Ruffstuff would make an emergency cable for my truck ('80 Chevy K20) with the factory brackets removed and a bracket that I can weld on my differntial.

      At 4:01 you can see the 2 bolt holes from the bolts that hold the cable bracket to the backing plate. We didn't film us removing them, but they were there. ;)

      @@UintaGarage I saw that but I'd like to know how you removed the brackets (or bracket) without damaging the parking brake tube. Both the brackets on my truck are crimped onto the parking brake tube but the bracket on the outside of the backing plate is very thick metal. I'm doing this in my garage for fun. I discovered yesterday that the professionals that replaced my leaking pinion seal years ago cross threaded or over tightened a bunch of the 3/8" bolts that hold the differential cover on (it was leaking real bad). I'm replacing the leaking cover with one of Ruffstuff's 1/4" covers. I have a Helicoil Repair Kit ordered. This is by far the best video I've found of this brake conversion!

    What was reasoning for the longer studs?

    What length lug studs did you use?

    Can you guys tell me what size heli coil was used to repair the stripped bolt hole on the hub? I have a stripped bolt and planning on doing disk brakes going to kill 2 birds 1 stone! Thank you guys for the video

    Did you leave the factory proportioning valve located below the radiator in place?

    • @UintaGarage
      @UintaGarage  Рік тому

      We left the valve in place, but pulled the guts out of it. Hope that helps.

    What's the size and length of the new wheel studs

    • @UintaGarage
      @UintaGarage  Рік тому

      The customer bought them ahead of time, so we don't have the exact size.

    How do you pull the guts out of the proportioning valve.

    • @UintaGarage
      @UintaGarage  11 місяців тому

      On one side there is a nut you unscrew and pull out the internals. It basically falls out.

    Has anyone used one of the newer 14bolts out of a 2000s truck with OEM disc brake setup? Any advice.... thank you

      We've seen it done, but don't have much information on it. I think the newer axles are wider though, so that might be an issue.

    Did you change prop valve or MC ?

    • @UintaGarage
      @UintaGarage  Рік тому

      We pulled the guts out of the prop valve, but kept the same master cylinder.

    When you say the rotors came from a GM ¾t, does that mean they're 1.28" thick and 12.50" in diameter? A.k.a. JB6 or JB7 rotors?

    • @UintaGarage
      @UintaGarage  Рік тому

      Sorry but we didn’t measure the rotors and don’t recall. This is the kit from Ruff Stuff and the specs should be on their site. www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/R1877.html
