Just Ben straight up saying “you’re an English man who is singing country music with an American accent” is unbelievably hilarious to me. It’s the thought I had all these years but didn’t known those words would come out of his band mates mouth
being an older gen z, i remember a very particular era of tumblr when teenagers from the US were obsessed with england, and had the union jack on their book bags and converse, loved sherlock and dr who and things like that. so it has always been so hilarious to me that danny worsnop was the polar opposite with his countrysona. glad to know i wasn’t the only person at the time to think it was so funny lmaooo, great video as always!!
Haha I got into AA as a kid loved their British accents that I would imitated it and would wear British t shirt flags. I still to this day try to perfect my British accent
I think Skins UK played a big role in that trend 😂
@@finnster4949 lol I mean, I see no lie there 👀😂😂 speaking as a former typical amurrrican teenager.
As a guy that lives in the UK. It's not special
@@PangeaPrime nor is america
does anyone else ever get the feeling that Danny wishes he were born an American?
not as much as he wishes he was born in the 60s
@@AlbertSirup truth!
My sister called him an Americaboo - in the vein of a weaboo - and I have not known peace since. But yes, I agree
Can’t blame him
Thats literally all i can ever think that and how he wished he were american
I giggled out loud every time you explained Danny's music outside of AA. "people don't usually listen to this kind of music on their own free will" lmao
We need an A Day To Remember series
This
"Ben stop being edgy..."
Says the englishman who sings country music with an american accent lmaoooo
The best part of the Madison Square Garden clip is the other guy from We Are Harlot next to him making increasingly uncomfortable faces.
I'm not a fan of emo, pop punk or warp tour bands... But I find your videos about these bands really fascinating. Keep up the good work!
thanks so much! :)
Same!
That perplexes me so much. Believe me if you lived through the scene days in the early 00’s and went to the shows, you’d be a fan. Lol
Yeah I stopped listening to emo/metal core a long time ago and prefer blackened anything along with slam but I'm glad that I stumbled upon the channel. Brings back memories of bands I loved.
@@tulip666trap motionless in white is where it’s at these day.
I can't believe Danny said that about Asking after he left. The irony is HE became the mainstream sellout. Not to mention he became a Garth Brooks wannabe without anyone really asking for it. Don't get me wrong, that's his right and business to make whatever music he wants to. I just don't like people talking shit and end up being the biggest hypocrites in the room.
He also wanted to be a terrible version of hair metal cover
And at the end Asking Alexandria with Danny ended up being the Mainstream Sellout Band but in a bad way
Not like bring me the horizon
Yo ! Julián i hope next time you do bring me the horizon so we can get the UK duo !
I second this! Bring Me the Horizon seems like they have a really rich, messed up journey that I’d love to hear about haha
I love how over this series and your existence on this channel your hair's gotten more and more scene-core throwback styled. Not sure if that's intentional or not but it makes this whole thing feel authentic. ALSO, Danny leaving to start We Are Harlot is giving me some flashbacks to James Hart's country-rock band after Eighteen Visions....
One last point: I can't help but feel weird that their last album has titles on it that were pretty much ripped from Rise Against's 2017 album 'Wolves' - sure the phrase 'Like a House on Fire' isn't an uncommon figure of speech so you could let that slide, but 'The Violence'? Idk man, what's up with that?
It’s what bryanstars was trying to do but couldn’t pull off lmao
Lmao I was working catering at this radio fest We Are Harlot played. Backstage I saw Danny and asked my coworker if AA was there. He said “naw they were like some Buckcherry band”
Do you even know how much I love you for doing this? im not sure
haha i appreciate it :D
I know I loved that he did this I’ll keep watching him
Dennis was also in Down & dirty before AA and eventually came out with a statement. In December 2017, Rock Sound interviewed Denis. Denis explained that his home country, Ukraine, is like a warzone now. He said there was stress for him and his family, and he had to stop touring to focus on family. Also Dennis was not a drinker and often said Ben and the guys parties every night and he wanted to relax and rest his vocals. Also just my opinion but as a big metal fan first I thought the black was awesome, I see what you mean about the lack of character in his voice but Ben helped write alot of the lyrics and originally they were mostly about Danny and Dennis said he shouldn't do that. To finish all my shit up I hate the last two asking albums, every once in a while I put on into the fire or alone in a room but I can't stand it. Cheers mate, thank you for the awesome series and don't stop making content :)
We’ll shit he wasn’t wrong. I hope him and his family are ok. War sucks
It’s actually interesting how the majority of the bands from this era were on the brink of breaking up bc someone from the band was being an entitled POS or they did something really questionable that was off setting the balance of the band; Dennis, Ashley from BVB, Austin Carlisle like it’s just messy
P sure Austin Carlisle had his organs trying to push their way out of his belly button no?
@@skylar4370 Yes, im rather positive (not 100%) that he left because of medical reasons from Of Mice and Men. Im pretty sure he still writes music for them based off his IG
If I remember correctly he left because of his Mafans syndrome, made it too hard to tour and perform live, I follow him on insta he’s had quite a few posts of him getting major surgeries over the years
Back in the mid 2000s, most of my favorite bands split because of that . It’s so stupid
I remember I was so psyched for AA to get a new singer. At the time, I was tired of Danny and his antics. And The Black w/ Denis is STILL one of my favourite Asking records. I hope one day Ben caves in and they do a couple songs from that album w/ Danny.
Also, I remember when Denis left, Ash Advilsen (CEO of Sumerian) had a tweet saying that he would release a documentary investigating the whole situation. Whatever happened to that?
I wondered about that to but my guess is Ash still saw dollar signs in Dennis and decided to sign his current band instead. Possibly more reason why Asking wants nothing to do with Ash anymore as they realized he put money before everything.
@@ThotdFan127 Maybe. That Drag Me Out album was trash, anyways. Most of the tracks were so demo-quality, it's not even funny. I hope the AA boys get their asses in gear with BNM as their new label. Danny doesn't even have to scream; they just gotta' try a little bit harder this time around, as LAHOF (while it was OK) was also kinda' lazy. It smells of a Green Day-Father of All...-kinda situation, doesn't it?
Dennis stoff LOVES old metalcore music, I was soooo happy when Asking had a lead singer who actually liked Asking’s music lol
i watched the 4 parts and i was hooked the whole time. i love how you literally point every detail so we get an extremely in depth view. ive always been interested in that band but never checked all of their stuff out and now im gonna go listen to their entire discography lol
Let's goo! I know you gotta be working on a BMTH series. I KNOW YOU ARE. Because not already writing the script for it would be very bad 😠
The 10 years in the black tour made me feel like a kid again. That tour was so damn good.
Yessss I’ve seen AA 8 times and that tour was by far the best. Danny with his passion intact for heavy music is something different. Sad it basically went away after that tour
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so much and have eagerly waited for each installment! It’s given me tremendous nostalgia! So well done Julian! Please do more 2010s warped tour bands!
Man, as someone who was completely obsessed with these guys all throughout my teen years, i can't tell you how cool and nostalgic it is to see their whole story as of yet broken down like this. AA is probably my overall favorite band to this day, Defintely had lots if ups and downs but the energy they brought to the scene was undeniable. Love your videos keep it up my dude
i remember seeing the first concert they had with Denis, it was actually awesome! felt like 2009 again
I just realized that the base of Danny's We Are Harlot mic stand is a fucking STEERING WHEEL. I'm dead. You just can't get much more rock and roll than that.
great series, hopefully you make a part 5 talking about the 2 new albums
I think we have Denis’s reasons for leaving AA and then Ben Bruce’s reasons why they parted ways and then I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I do think that AA had lined up Danny to return whilst Denis was still in the band as Danny and Ben had been meeting up and hanging out again
And don’t forget the story of Denis taking this guys money saying he was gonna do a feature and never did it, then Ben paid the guy back just to be nice
Dennis was terrible live preformer
@@dereknorris4543 I’ve seen a lot of videos of his live performances and he looked and sounded decent to me
@@markcrane1984 there’s a lot of clips of Dennis lip syncing I won’t give in live
@@dereknorris4543 I can't speak for all his performances, but I seen him with AA live at Warped '15 in Toronto and he absolutely crushed it.
Huge long time fan of AA! I’m 40 and seen them on their first US tour and multiple times throughout their career. I seen Danny go from an amazing live vocalist to a horrible one. Right before Danny left AA I left thier concert because of bad he sounded and was performing live, it was so horrible and sad to see an icon in the scene fall so hard. Dennis really gave energy and life back to AA and I saw him twice perform live and killed it but like you said just didn’t have the personality that Danny had. However, as a metalcore fan I can’t stand to listen to new AA stuff it’s just radio rock and it’s sad that they have moved on and totally forgot their roots but it is what it’s and appreciate all that they have given to the genre. I will see AA live for the first time with Danny back in Sept and I don’t have high hopes for Danny to sound good and it is what it is. Thanks for doing these videos and really loved all the research, time and effort that you put into this series 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I could never get used to Denis being in AA even though I liked the black it just wasn't the same, I was sad that Danny left but when he came back I was soo happy and glad he has changed for the better
I actually loved We are Harlots album and Danny's solo stuff. The long road home is a bit all over the place as an album but Shades of blue I think is a great album and I still listen to it quite a bit. You can tell he got more confident as a songwriter and also had some great help from the likes of Chris Stapleton. I get it's not for everyone and I have quite a wide range of music I listen to, from straight up pop to deathcore😅
"Sure, yeah, its on Earache Records, fine, whatever"
Lmaooo thank you so fucking much for these videos as a huge AA fan these brought me so much happiness
As usual great work. Always in the mood for a cozy representative vid to help me get through my office hours
thank you! happy to help :)
It's been almost a month now thanks cozy for made my morning ! ♥️
Cozy knows how to always make days with these videos. :)
Yep car commercials and see what's on the inside is heart breaking. As someone who got tatted with their autographs and gushed to a kerrang reporter about how much they loved then during the resurrection tour, I am sad about their new direction. But hey I enjoy the nostalgia I guess
Gotta do a part 5 for the newest two albums
I think is time to think about the part 5 👁️👁️🛐
omg yes part 4!!!!!!!!!!! thank you for blessing us with the content
I'm so glad this is out. I've been waiting for it. Your other videos in general are actually really well done and you're just great! So thank you.
Thanks, cozy! You’re the best for doing this!!!
You're a legend for making these videos bro, thank you so much for putting the time and effort into making such detailed, informative vids on some of my favourite bands back when I was growing up.
thank you for making this series highly enjoyed watching your in depth long form videos
You've done such a great job. Thank you for the series.
Dude! Another awesome series cozy! Not many people around my little town like the old warped music so it's a great day when you put up a video. Can't wait to see what you do next bud, stay safe!
what a crazy ass ride, your videos are heavily researched and you provide long lost pictures and footage at the same time, keep it up you'll be big one day.
Your videos bring me back to simpler times dude! I love it!
Thank you for making this series!! You're such a good storyteller and the time seems to fly when I watch your videos. When you mentioned Matt Good & D.R.U.G.S., it got me thinking about other supergroups from the scene (i.e. Isles & Glaciers)...might be an interesting video topic? Keep up the awesome work 🤘🏼
Would love to see something like this! Especially with D.R.U.G.S reforming with Jona Weinhofen this month
All four these videos were awesome...I really enjoy the "epic" multi video concept videos you did especially when you include all the details like you did here...hope you have another one in store soon!
This was an awesome ride! Thank you ❤
You did a great job with this series. Thank you for that. I’m a huge fan of AA since I was a kid in 2012 and I miss them from their first records.
I always felt like Ben should’ve taken over vocals and just recruited an unclean vocalist back in 2015, but Danny’s back so all is good now lol
he can't play his guitar very well while singing. it's hard for him and he's not used to do that.
such a good series! thank you for putting your time into making this ur videos are saving my summer!
I really enjoy your videos. It’s clear that you do your homework and put an incredible amount of time and effort into them. A documentary style series that focuses on 21st century rock bands is quite refreshing. Thank you.
This was such a good series! Sad that it's over :(
I just played all of these in order.
Good job sir!
I get so excited when you upload these makes my day!!
Finally the saga is over. Thank you so much for walking us through it
BRING ME THE HORIZON NEXT! Great series, Well done Julian 🤘🏼
I never knew about Danny's country phase and i am just mortified (as someone who grew up country and starting listening to metal and emo music as a teen)
I've literally been wanting an in-depth dive into this band since I became a fan lol thank you for this awesome 4 part deep dive into one of my all time favorite bands
I enjoyed watching all parts, thank you so much!!
Yesss! I’ve been waiting for this! Gonna watch it on my 7 hour train ride today🖤
I loved this video series, and I hope you do more deep dives like this.
another killer video dude. keep the scene alive. Never really cared for asking alexandria but i love the context you provide for the 2000s metalcore scene
Another amazing video my friend, spot on! Love this
Thank you so much for putting this all together just thank you
Love the series! Thabks for putting it together.
Thought you would bring this up about the self-titled but it was insane hearing Room 138 when it came out because the chorus is literally the same ending of "If You Can't Ride Two Horses at One.." from stand up and scream. While I'm not huge on the self-titled, I really appreciated that callback as a fan.
loved this video... but! we need the maine pt 2! great video as always cozy
I absolutely love these videos man, keep up the hard work 🤘❤️
Man, long journey but worth the ride. Great series
ITS THE FINAL EPISODE! Oh. My. God.
I remember seeing and meeting AA at Mayhem Fest 2014 like right before Danny left. During the meet n greet at their merch table Danny was wearing sunglasses and a cowboy hat (foreshadowing lol) and despite being about 12/13 years old at the time I could tell he wasn't into it. The rest of the band was chatting and trying to have a great time, but Danny was just not giving the same vibe. I'm glad he took the time he needed away from AA and honestly watching these videos has been the first time I've revisited their music since he left. Now as an adult I've seen an entirely new side of this band and all I can say is WOW. Thanks for catching me up on a band that I've thought about on the daily since 2013.
Loving this Asking Alexandria series!!!
Thanks for this series!! Love ya
Love your videos. So much detail you’re a music teacher
I saw AA with Denis at Warped 2015 and played the heck out of The Black when it came out. I still look back on that era fondly, it was a generally happy time in my life. I remember watching that footage when Danny rejoined the band, it definitely was a super exciting time. I also really enjoyed the self-titled album and saw them on that tour with BVB.
Massively enjoyed this whole series, thanks for the consistently great content!
It made me so happy watching this when you spoke about the We Are harlot era. I got obsessed at one point of watching every single interview I could find of the band because I found it so entertaining. It is genuinely like some kind of real life Spinal Tap. It was such a niche obsession of mine and Ive never seen anyone else share the same view of how brilliant and corny it is until this video!
Hell yea! Something to watch at work. thank you cozy!
thank you!
Much love cozy ✌🖖🤘
WTFFFF I've just finished watching third part like 30 minutes ago. Love your videos
I´ve lived for this videos
The saddest part of Danny’s country music career was the fact that it wasn’t even good country music
Oxymoron?
i loved it
He improved very much on his 2nd album, you should give it a try
You can do the same "this song is weird and quirky and edgey boi" you did for Harlot songs for damn near every single asking Alexandria song
I gotta say - where are those demos of new AA with Denis? What they had planned on recording for the next record after The Black. I wish we got to hear those they probably sounded so good, such a shame we never got more Denis content from AA
Great video serie ! Great job and great channel :)
Love your work! Thank you!
Guess I'm not old enough yet. I'm 29 and missing the great "stand up and scream" era. RIP Black haired Worsnop.
Ciwwaf and AA were my favorites. So glad you covered both.
Didn't care much for The Black, but I loved seeing AA live with Denis when they did the older songs.
It’s so cool to know that even though Danny made an album that was calm and he wanted to yell for all of us! I’ve been watching vids on Asking Alexandria and Danny and the band is funny again
Massive AA fan, and I’ve loved this series alot. I’m a newer fan of theirs, but they’ve really been of interest to me for about a year or so. I’ve really admired Danny, and daresay he’s one of my favorite vocalists ever. He came back from a torn vocal cord and still sounds incredible, especially now since he’s finally learning proper technique. I’ve really liked all his stuff- Harlot and solo stuff included. HOWEVER, this man has done plenty of things to make me cringe as a fan. He reeked of arrogance, impulsivity, and (at times) delusion. That Harlot interview with him in the cowboy hat *still* makes me physically cringe onto another plane of existence. That being said though, LAHOF was not by any means my favorite AA album but I don’t hate it. I can see how it’d be a punch in the gut to old school fans, but I never really understood the hate. I also love Shinedown though, so can’t say much. That performance of the Violence you showed did rub me wrong though. His stage presence took moves DIRECTLY out of Brent Smith’s playbook
Well done! As always!
Great video! I love your band retrospective videos! Keep them up. BTW, they are playing at the Blue Ridge Rock Fest in September. I won't be there, but I am curious to see some video of them and how they sound live now.
I appreciate the time and effort you make for these videos.
I think the only thing I disagree with is that Like a House on Fire to me sounds more like Imagine Dragons than the 2000s Hard Rock bands like Shinedown or Three Days Grace. Since albums like One-X work a lot better musically in my opinion than what Like a House on Fire was trying to do.
It’s not like AA can’t make that sound work since they’ve always had a poppy element in their music, but I feel like the sound they went for on that album doesn’t even feel like AA.
I personally think they should try to expand the Hard Rock sound they were doing on either From Death to Destiny or the self-titled since that’s where their strengths lie IMO.
As a fan of the band I enjoyed the episodes and kinda saw the sadness in the band coming through thank you man !!
Great video man!!!!
For me each album has great songs on it outside of Reckless and Relentless. Which I consider to be damn near flawless and my favorite Asking Alexandria album. I hope there’s some sort of bounce back after this last album but I just don’t see it.
Do love the content! Yeah I poked fun at your earlier videos. But I've watched you grow and get better my dude. Really do like all the info you get and put the time in. So yes, a cozy fan! Scene kids grow up to be scene-ior citizens! Still listen to alot of the groups daily
Long Road Home and Danny’s solo adventure is my total guilty pleasure. I Got Bones is still a banger and I won’t apologise
As a die-hard old AA fan who flew to literal France to see them tour with Chelsea Grin in 2012, I was fully cackling throughout this entire video. I knew Danny had left the band but I could never have imagined THAT in my wildest dreams.
Huge commendations to you on this whole series!
i never liked asking but this was such a intriguing look in to the life of the band and made it very digestible and easy to watch
Y'know, I listen to shinedown, and I had no idea that they released another record last year (FaKe FaN!!!!!!!!111) but when you said that they sounded like shinedown and you played that clip? yeah, but I'm gonna tell you right fricken now- I think shinedown is butt rock. AA made a butt rock album.
This series, just like the others, was so well done. Thank you, Julian. :)
