Waypoints V - No Drone Setup - Setting Up the Waypoint Mission OFFSITE - Without the Drone Connected

- This is Part V in our series on Waypoints for the DJI Mavic 3 series of drones (not the Enterprise). This video is a quick addendum to Part II in the series where we implied the Controller needed to be connected to the drone in order to setup a Waypoint Mission Offsite.
Thanks to viewer who pointed out that you can do it without the drone. In fact, as we show, if you're using the RC-N1 controller... you don't even need the controller... we'll show you how!
Waypoints is a favorite feature of ours and was released to the Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Cine and Mavic 3 Classic in December of 2022.

I hear ya Jim! I'm thinking about a potential video on a hybrid method where you set it up offsite to save time and then edit it when you get there. But, I agree... Onsite is the way to go.

Thank you for posting - super helpful. I purchased the Mavic 3 Pro and was able to edit existing waypoints without connecting to the drone, but wasn't able to create any new waypoint missions. I tried using the DJI RC as well as the app on the phone to no success...yet. Hopefully it's just user error! Any thoughts?
I just re-tested and didn't have any problem using the RC Pro. Can you provide more details? Are you able to follow the steps in this video (Waypoint Part V) or do you get stuck at some point? Once you get to about the 2:01 point of the video, you are in Create mode... you should be able to zoom in to the location on the map where your mission is to take place and then start tapping the screen to set waypoints. Try again and let me know!
How about waypoint setting zoom level to 7 times to use the telelens? This should work with the mavic 3
That’s a good question. I believe that’s when I got the message. But, I’m not sure. It’s possible you could set it when you go to run the mission???
Anyone figure out how to do this on the old Smart Controller? Mine only works if the drone is on and connected.
I finally pulled my Smart Controller / Mavic 2 Pro out of the closet to test it out. I too cannot set waypoints without the drone on and connected. I tried tricking it turning off the drone after being in the waypoint interface. But, that didn't work either. Oh well... One more advantage of the Mavic 3 I guess.
