Drifting is no where near the same level as talent. Slow speed drifting, drifting. Fast speed drifting, rallying! When it goes wrong at this speed it goes bloody wrong! Drifters suck.
Can any of my Irish rally fan friends confirm the story I heard, the WRC regulars did not want to return to the Emerald Isle because the local talent ( escort heroes + others ) were too quick on tarmac for them ?
Russ Cattell this is true, some of the circuit of Ireland rally regulars showed some of the guys up, how else would ireland not be one of the WRC stages, we have some of the best roads for rallying in the world!

To Mr Kelly Having Rallied an Escort over 20 yrs ago myself watching your movies brings it all back like it was yesterday. So very nice to see An Escort being used for which it was designed. IDK ... My 1.3L 2 door when I was 17 was pretty close until I stoved it thro a Village hall notice board , somebodys fence & was stopped dead by a Williow tree next to a duck pond. It was the greatest love story of mine for about 9 days. Until I managed to get my dick beaters on a Mk3 2000e Tina. Oh Oh.. 2 days that MoFo lasted. Farmer wanted 300 quid just to put it back on 4 wheels & tow it out his field. I said he could keep it .. Oh so little did I know .. But in my defence they were 100 quid throw aways back then.

Awesome driving harks back to the days before 4WD where an exciting display of rear wheel drive required a totally different approach to rallying - love the sound of a Ford engine on full song - in some respects I wish 4WD was not allowed so we can experience this level of driving skills - great navigator has some big bass ones to sit there calling the corners as the car is flipped before the corners all sideways and calmly calls his course notes.

Ari's factory car was 1.8 litre, these days many are 2.2 JRE or 2.5 Millington motors. My mate's MK1 JRE had over 300 bhp.
