I'm kinda disappointed with the "banger" stuff of this album. I really enjoyed Hivemind, but Warranty and H377 feel weak, specially in the guitars with some generic riffs. Not bad songs, I just don't dig them.
This album is a breath of fresh air. Self-Titled and Iowa remain as the heaviest, darkest, nastiest, and most sadistic albums known to our community however. This album reminds me of Subliminal Verses and All Hope is Gone.
I totally agree with you, there are too many elements from different parts of all albums, Hive Mind seems to me a typical 5.Gray Chapter song, it's simple, fast, punchy... for example warranty is again too much all hope is gone song, but the whole album reminds me exactly of vol3+ahig but with occasional elements of 5.Gray Chapter
'De Sade' is a personal favorite. The entire album is a good listen and I recommend everyone give each song a second listen if they didn't like a particular one. Even 'Adderall' grew on me.
For a late 90s band, its SO IMPRESSIVE what these guys are doing nowadays, everyone comming to their 50s and these guys still brings the intensity! I hope u can also react to more songs from their self titled album btw Talking about heavinesss, U should listen to SOADS LONGEST SONG: MIND, its a 6 minutes song, its such a weird one
Dude they have gotten worse over time lol Iowa and self titled when Corey screamed the old way that's their best shit. There was just more of a gritty angry sound back then, they were still hungry too. Not now. They sold out their old sound dude u can't deny it, nobody can. This song almost has that old sound though, just Corey's newer vocal style doesn't hit like the first cpl albums did. Then of course the clean vocals 🤦🏻♂️ But it's working for them to pander to the masses. I am happy though that they're introducing ppl to blast beats lol
@@eatassonthefirstdate That's cuz his older vocals were damaging to his cords, you can tell if you search up him recording vocals for IOWA. The newer ones are much better for long term singing, so be glad he's trying to bring back some of the old sound before.
@@ultralink17 for sure I know he was gonna end up like Chino from Deftones or Chad from mudvayne, but that scream I love it. It's so improper and gritty and he just sounds like he wants to murder everything.
Finale is a true masterpiece. De Sade has killer lyrics. Acidic has a great tune. Heirloom is one of my favorites. Pretty much any of them would make fun reviews.
@@thefilmeffect6089 I don't think the two songs are exceptionally similar. They both have great drums and a somewhat similar cadence, but I think the choruses are highly different. The guitar lines in Heirloom are more pronounced and, frankly, awesome, in Heirloom. Heirloom is much more melodic, too. And it's about two minutes shorter. But even if one thinks they're carbon copies, Vendetta is a great song, so it's not a shameful comparison.
Heirloom is a great song with some heavy lyrics. It's just too bad that so many people are too short-sighted and wrapped up within themselves to give the song it's due. Also if I remember correctly neither Jim or Corey head anything to do with Heirloom. It was one of the new members who wrote it
Love this song so damn much! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽 after all these years of following them.. for them to still bring this energy is astounding. Honestly. I’m always amazed at every new album. Never seizes. 🎯🤌🏽
A true fan right there 🤘🏼 so many of the Slipknot “fans” are bashing this album and it’s sad. Like try doing this for that many years and trying to stay to your true genuine sound
Every song in this album is top notch, not gonna compare it to their old sound because they evolved, you can still hear their original sound with the maturity of almost 30yrs making music, listen to acidic or de sade
@@christianhackl474 i can see why, it strays too far out of their spectrum but not innovative enough i suppose, its still a good tune for me, Cheers and enjoy the music 🔥
Thank you so much for reacting to a song off the new album! You gotta do more songs off it because every single one is incredible! Keep up the great vids Alex!
Alex...thanks! I am a 58-year-old metal head who discovered SlipKnot about 6 months ago. I don't have a lot of friends into SlipKnot (yet). When I heard Hive Mind and especially Warranty, I thought... that Alex dude on UA-cam is gonna love this shit. It was fun to have heard something before you. I truly felt like I was sharing it with a friend. I think that is likely exactly what you wanted to accomplish with this channel. Keep up the great work!
You know it's nearly Halloween and we are yet to get that Ice Nine Kills Silver Scream full album reaction you told us you'd do a year ago. No better time than the present my friend. 🙂 plus...you'll love it, so there is that.
You should react to the entire album, we'd love to see what you think about of every song. We didn't get that unfortunately with WANYK, but I think it would be great!
What else can you say about Slipknot? They just keep producing the goods time after time, these guys have been going for 20 years, and STILL they are relevant, not many bands can carry that these days.
The same as with the last album, disappointed first due to it is harder (or has to be harder as Iowa) but then I heard those jewels of metal music after a certain time and this is what is slipknot. You see the masks and the hard music, but there is so much more. Thank you guys for this grate entertainment over so many years, the goosebumps and everything, the support in downtime’s and the sweet uptime’s!!!!!!! I ❤️ slipknot
Would love if you could react to every song on the album. If you don't want to do all of them though, I'd recommend in particular: Warranty, Medicine for the Dead, Acidic, H377, and Finale.
talk about giving the youths a run for their money. I love that most of the metal bands out there are getting up there in age and are still WORKING it hard
If you wanna keep going with more bands that have dropped new albums this year I wanna recommend Shinedown. An 2 songs definitely worth checking out, 'Dead Don't Die' for a heavy-ish sound. And 'A Symptom of Being Human' for something more inspirational.
The main reason why this is my favorite song is simply because of Craigs keys towards the end. I wish they would do more of that on top of the samples.
It's interesting to see different reactions to this new album. First, you put a positive spin on the lyrics, though I think they're more about how people (especially hiding behind social media) will follow what someone says and adopt it as their own thinking without actually thinking about it. I was watching Ola Englund and his first words were "Man, they're getting softer and softer each album. The line between Slipknot, Stone Sour, and Corey Taylor's solo stuff is blurring" I'm not saying one is right and one is wrong, I just think the difference is interesting. Jim Root was shown in an interview saying they didn't have time to really hash out this album the way they wanted, with time limits on the studio and whatnot. I think it's a total banger. I can't wait for the next album!
We need a full album reaction to this one. Why check them out on your own when you could enjoy them with your family bro.
Exactlyy
Fax. My most favorite songs on this album are The Chapeltown Rag, The Dying Song: It's time to Sing, and Warranty.
He'll be surprised by the ferocity of H477 for sure
This needs a full album reaction🤷♂️
H377 and Warranty were the two best songs of the album to me, particularly H377
Completely agree! After first listen these two stood out the most
Thoughts on Chapletown Rag?
H377, Acidic and Warranty: my 3 fav
