Although selenite is found in many places, this is the only place in the world where you can find hourglass selenite crystals and it is the official State Crystal of Oklahoma.

What fun! My sister and niece dug for what we called rose stones somewhere in OK , close to Oklahoma City. My grandmother had a beautiful wall art mosaic with the rose sones in a vase in her home when we would visit as a kid.
Thanks for sharing this amazing destination! I've been wanting to visit OK for awhile now, and this is another destination to add to my list of places to visit.

Jack did you ever watch American Restoration? This guy & his crew restored all kinds of mechanical things from bicycles to wagons to cars. @@BetrThnYou It is Speed Bump Garage. Kent and Jack bring a lot of old vehicles back to life. They're currently doing a series of short videos where Kent told Jack that he could pick any vehicle out of a scrapyard and have it if he could get it running. Jack picked an old Ranchero and they are currently working on it. They also do quite a few other wholesome family activities together.

My family has been there a few times. Your dad is right in his guess~ we have been there when it’s dry and hardly found any at all no matter how much we dug, but we went after a big rain and they were all exposed at the top and easy to get.
It’s a fun outing for a family for sure and definitely a different experience. Glad you all had the opportunity to go!
Jack, I would bet a trip to Gloss Mountain is an outing you would enjoy. It is a nice 3/4 mile hike once you get up the staircase to the top.🙂

A year ago Jack, I watched ya hunting in a blind, then days ago cutting a huge pumpkin & 2 big watermelons, now fun family time digin for crystals. What do you do with these crystals? And did you win 1st place in fair? I wish there were go pro's when my son was you're age. You have great parents too.
I live in Missouri, I had no idea that place existed, thanks for sharing, looks like fun. I would like to go dig for diamonds in Arkansas's crater of Diamonds State park, some of those are very valuable, that would be exciting to find a big diamond.

My wife and I were there a few months ago. She went way out and brought back quite a few but i dont think any as big as yours. Got the ambient air sensor too wet driving out and had no AC back to OKC. Worse, went to the lake park for a picnic and instead of driving back on the highway i just decided to go straight south on country roads. Almost made it through until we got to a huge mud bog. Too much for a car. Anyway we had fun. Thanks and cheers

Thanks for an interesting day. I love looking for rocks. I always look for rocks when I travel. So this was exciting to me many miles away.

Idk. We went when it was a lot drier than that, and it was still pretty easy. Super cool and fun think to do in Oklahoma though, and there's a neat freshwater well right around there too that's neat to go see
