    Couple years ago I was showing a friend around the property next to mine so she could rent it from my landlord. I see something sparkling in the grass. I pick it up and it's a very highly etched Selenite crystal. Just across the street there is a hill that is full of Selenite I later learned. It's one of my favorite pieces, especially because I found it myself. Most of my minerals I've bought off of ebay.

    I started my crystal journey just over a year ago. I had a panic attack near my local metaphysical shop and something told me that I had to go in. I picked up a tiny rose quartz that I felt calling to me and now I have a problem 😅😂 I recently walked out of an eight year abusive relationship, I wouldn't have got through it if it wasn't for the unconditional love and support I get from my crystal babies 💎🖤
    Me and my son love your videos, keep being awesome!

    thats crazy. id love to find the right places in the netherlands but as Ive experienced, its harder to find spots such as in this video in here. we got a couple of mines/mining areas but they are restricted for "professionals" only, wich means if you dont have a 10 year geology associates degree or something like that, you're not allowed to enter and start diggin 😥

    ever since i was a little kid i’d pick up every cool looking rock i could find! as i got older i finally stopped hoarding every granite and rose quartz pebble i found on the ground but i kept grabbing neat specimens when i came across them! besides the obvious beauty of crystals, collecting is one of the things my dad and i like to do when he’s got time off work! we like to tumble our own finds and scout out gem shows together- it’s a great (and pretty nerdy) daddy-daughter bonding activity.

    Rockhounding and crystal collecting for me bring a lot of comfort. Just being able to get in the dirt and find such beautiful pieces of nature is one of the most amazing things, and I've been doing it since I was a little kid! Some of my fondest memories are of looking for agates and thomsonite on the shore of Lake Superior and collecting amethyst in Thunder Bay. @_sadie.k

    Ever since I was very young I was fascinated with crystals. Any book on crystals and minerals I would beg for. I would read them cover to cover as many times as I could just to learn more about them. My first specimen was gifted to me when I was 10 years old. It was an amethyst cluster with very rich color. After the amethyst I was sold. I would stare at it for hours. I knew I wanted it to be a life long hobby and perhaps a career. The joy I got from a single thing was amazing. I can be slightly picky with a specimen though. Since I am still young and don’t have the required funds to buy whole lot, the crystal really has to speak to me. “Buy me! Buy me!” 😂 😂💎

    I hunt for crystals in Bahrain, and have found some perfect quartz geodes and even oil-filled geodes over there along with my friend. I also know, however, that there is gypsum there in a few different forms, as well as calcite. I do remember a certain place I used to go to when I was younger that had what I now know was gypsum, and it was rather abundant. I hope to go back to that place now that I've gained experience in finding and identifying different minerals.

    That is spectacular. I have a small clear flat piece from a gem show in in Roseville, California years ago. Some weeks ago at Rock, Mineral, and Fossil show in Albany, New York, I found a small Selenite crystal that had like half of an Hourglass Clay formation. The label that came with it said that it's from the Great Salt Plains in Jet, Alfalfa Co, Oklahoma. Who knew Oklahoma can have an abundance of Selenite.

    • @MrAmethystguy
      @MrAmethystguy 5 років тому

      Surprisingly, it is worth some decent $$$. Selenite is typically one of the most common and lowest prices minerals you can buy. However, in certain circumstances you come across something more spectacular than you would've ever imagined.....like this window pane-like selenite.
      This type of selenite had just as much appeal to a home decor consumer, as it does a mineral/crystal one.

    Hey Bryan my name is Sebastian. Im a young amateur rockhounder from Maine. I usually spend my time going to beaches and looking up and down the beach for rocks because I live right on the coast and its so easy to go and just look for them. Ive found quite a few jaspers and A LOT OF BLACK TOURMALINE which is one of my favorite minerals right after Aragonite. But because im an amateur I find a lot of rocks that I dont have a clue what they are. Now i have this rock encyclopedia that i carry around with me that helps but not always. Ive been finding these beutiful rocks with these beautiful patterns but i have no clue what they are. And just last night i was scrolling through instagram and i found your instagram! Which i thought was cool because ive been a fan of your videos for almost a year now, so to have you pop up on my instagram was really cool. But thats beside the point. The only reason im commenting is because youre the reason i started actually hunting for rocks. I used to find a few rocks here and there but my passion never got ignited till i saw your videos on your trip to herkimer new york. So my question is. Can i send you pictures of some interesting rocks I found on one of my hounding beaches, because i would really like some professional input on what kind of rock they are and who better than my groovy rock hounding friend! From the name "Selenite" I'm going to take a shot in the dark and assume it's related to _selenium_ which is both a vital nutrient for humans (in trace amounts) and when taken up in large enough quantities by certain plants can be deadly toxic to livestock. Either way, sure makes really awesome looking clear crystals.

    Rockhounding may be just a hobby for some, a job, or something that you have grown a love for over the years. I can remember from when I was a child collecting rocks and minerals from everywhere I went and to this day I have a huge collection of so many different types. Some people can’t say that their hobby is everywhere, but for me no matter where I am there has to be a rock that is going to be found. That’s what I love about rockhounding. @Abbi.l.g

    I started to buy crystals and stones around about the yr 1998-1999. I was at a huge Farmers Market in Edmonton AB Canada. As soon as I walked in, I felt a really strong pull, like someone or something pulling me towards them. I’m an Aquarius, so my Intuition is pretty strong and I’ve learned to listen to it. I come to a booth, a gentleman was attending to. I looked down into an Amethyst. The soul of this Amethyst was so excited, I took her home. Spent hours looking, holding, put her under my pillow at night. I meditated with her, I just couldn’t get enough, let’s say, lol
    After, and to this day, I live for every part that involves crystals and stones, from finding them, buying them, holding, meditating with them, yes, even putting them under my pillow at night, lol. They are an Inspiration to me.
    Thank you, The Crystal Collector

    For me rock hounding and crystal collecting is about more than just collecting amazing specimens. It's about connecting with nature and people in a like minded way that makes everyone happy. Sometimes Its hard to do this in the hectic world we live in today @keeblersidejob iG

    I love rocks and minerals (crystal's especially!) for no real reason exept that I've always loved finding them sence I was 5. Even a sparkly piece of granite would inspire me! Fossils too are cool. Anything and everything rocks and minerals!

    IG: @wendybeee I love mining for crystals and minerals because it's like a private meeting between me and the Earth, and She wants to give me some gifts she has made. She has kept them hidden for millions of years, waiting for the very moment that I find it. When I pull out the gem, it's like the Earth and I both give a little yelp of surprise- me with the joy and astonishment of a priceless (to me) treasure, and the Earth because it's gotta be kinda like a tooth being pulled, oddly relieving. It's a little piece of a star I can carry in my pocket. It's an endless game of Treasure Hunt that the Earth, my playmate, is waiting to engage in any time I'd like to play. I'm currently enamored with a grape agate (SPARKLY AND ROUND) and a piece of raw peach moonstone that I can look at and imagine a harmonious earth filled with love. Phew, yep. A rockhound for sure!!

    I’ve found such a love for rock hounding. My brother and I have been living in Oregon our whole life and have been searching for quarts, jade, jasper, and chert. You have helped me locate better digging sites. Thank you for all you do man. 🤙🏼 hope I can win that beautiful piece to add to my collection! Instagram page is Keaton Entze.

    I don’t know if you check your messages but I’m curious to know if you also study the spiritual properties of the gems and crystals you collect. Selenite is powerful and magnifies other gems and crystals if you put them on top of a plate of selenite. All cleansed first of course and then some say love is enough just to love your crystals and that will cleanse them.

    I just bought some of these pieces from Aaron! I love Selenite and it’s calming, cleansing affects! I make crystal jewelry and selenite knives. I share my love of rockhounding with my grandkids and my best friend. The kids and I are planning to go geode hunting here in Iowa as soon as it warms up! Thanks for all of your wonderful videos 🥰 @traci3575 on instagram

    I love rockhounding because it made me feel more connected with what this beautiful world has to offer! Ever since I was five I would be obsessed with searching for rocks. Though my family thinks that I’m a little bit kooky for gawking at a ‘normal’ Stone, I am/ was always able to see the sheer beauty that went into everything from sedimentary rocks to gemstones (I’m not even kidding! To this day, I still keep an eye out at in rest stop parking lots for anything that connects with me). It’s amazing how gorgeous this world can be if you just take a little dig! :) thank-you for showing this beauty in your videos! (My insta page is: providence.c)

    *_a huge window of just happy_* .
    Whilst I don't ascribe to the woo side of crystals, I would be downright ecstatic if I found such rocks. Here in New Zealand, we have other minerals such as commercially accessible gold. Quartz has been mined out after the 19th century gold rushes in South Island, a bit of relatively low grade amethyst, beach agate, and amongst others, our fabulous Westland nephrite or, as we call it, _Greenstone_ . Sometimes referred to as _jade_ but as we know, jade comes in many colours so..,. Anyhoo, thanks for introducing me to _selenite_ .

    Stopping to appreciate the wonders of our world is why I love digging in the dirt to find these treasures!
    Thanks for sharing your fun adventures with us and teaching us so much along the way!

    Regarding the Quartz on Lace Agate giveaway,
    Since i was 17 and started my first job i've carried a piece of black obsidian for protection, that is now in my car. I am nearing 21, and crystals have become a huge part of my life. My fiance and i attend festivals in the warm season and sell "healing crystals" and wire wrapped jewelry along with other artsy, metaphysical things. I've always loved crystals, and they've helped me both mentally and spiritually, through the dark and the light. I've always wanted to hunt them, and after stumbling upon your youtube recently and then your instagram you have been a big inspiration for me to start planning a trip. So thanks, man! I love your videos. And i would love to own a piece found by you! My fiance and i recently have moved into our own place and i think it would look great somewhere among my other crystals, minerals, and stones! Our buisness instagram is @crystique_creations
    or personal
    @mitchell_pittsley
    Ps, we have not been active on our buisness instagram due to moving and other speed bumps in life but there is still alot on there to see!

    I've hounded for selenite but nothing like this. Just beautiful. Looks like a peaceful area to spend the day.
