Emile, your story about the bully reminds me of someone I once knew when I was in the 8th grade. He was in my English class, and he seemed to make it his mission in life to give me all kinds of shit for whatever reason. He even encouraged some of his friends to get in on it, too. Then, he was suddenly absent for a prolonged period of time. Even though he had given me all kinds of hell, I found myself worried that something had happened to him. A few days before he came back, I found out why he was gone: His mother had been struggling with breast cancer for a number of months, but had unfortunately succumbed to it. On his first day back, I walked up to him. He looked at me and asked "What do you want?". I just replied back "I just want you to know that regardless of how you treated me, I'm truly sorry to hear about your mother. I lost my grandpa to throat cancer just a few months ago and while I'm still mourning for him, I'm doing what I can to keep moving forward. I hope the same can be true of you in this difficult time." After that, I walked back to my desk to finish my assignment for the day. He was genuinely touched by my sympathy. In fact, he was so touched, he turned himself around and decided not to bully me anyone. He even went out of his way to tell his buddies not to tease me anymore, saying to them that if they continue to bully me, he wouldn't be friends with them anymore, because I had offered genuine sympathy to him about his mother when I had every right to give him a taste of his own medicine while he was in mourning. I haven't heard from him since we left 8th grade, but I hope he's having a good life.

I like how the Demonic Petunia isn't even a petunia, it's a rafflesia, same flower that Vileplume is based on. Anyway, there's something I wanted to say about the Multibottle Rocket and why it's so overpowered. Apparently, the idea behind the item is that it's overpowered on purpose, but it's supposed to be too expensive to buy in bulk without breaking bank. Unfortunately, the developers GROSSLY underestimated how much money enemies give in this game. And Emile demonstrated this fact in an earlier video. The equipment sold in Summers' shop is all stuff you're not supposed to have no, but it's all overpriced, and the idea behind it is that you're not supposed to fully outfit yourself with all the best gear on your first visit. Yet Emile was able to do exactly that, and it barely made a dent in his fund. By the time he got to the point where he can buy all of that equipment at regular price, money has become completely meaningless. He has more than enough cash in the bank to buy out the rest of the equipment he will ever need to buy five times over.
Emile, that bully story you told is inspiring. Others would have a sick sense of relief or some form of gratitude hearing their bully had passed away, but for someone who had been picked on by this person, you didn't feel any of that; just regret you couldn't have befriended them instead. I find it weird that Poo comes back, but then you don't get even a bit of a conversation with him. It makes him disappearing seem even dumber. Also, 400 damage isn't enough to be that big a deal that you needed his help. Not unless they made Puke nearly invulnerable to everything.
Maybe Ness gets homesick near Master Belch/Master Barf because he's reminded of all the times getting sick at home due to the nauseous odor, and how his mom would take care of him until he was better? I think that's a nice thought, anyway.

Wow, that was a really personal story you shared, Emile. Thank you for sharing. A lot of people, myself included, have experienced varying cases of bullying but never share much. I know you said you don't but I hope you really don't dwell on the matter that much. It is very unfortunate what happened to him, but the past is the past. There's no point in regretting things you didn't do. And that obviously goes for everyone
Funny comments on enemies encountered Zap Eel: A distant ancestor of the Zapfish, perhaps? Hard Crocodile: Looks like he's inviting you to dinner. The main course? Why... YOU! Demonic Petunia: Don't stop to smell this rose, unless you enjoy being fertilizer! Pit Bull Slug: Have you ever heard a slug bark? Me neither! Even Slimier Little Pile: Try not to step in swamp gunk, or you'll have to burn your shoes just to get rid of the stink! Hostile Elder Oak: Watch it! His bark is worse than his... bark?! Big Pile of Puke: Ugh... I do not want to meet the guy that ralphed THIS up! Manly Fish: In Deep Darkness, fish eat YOU! Manly Fish's Bro: He's so tough, he requested that the boss theme plays if he's first in battle! BOSS Master Barf: He's bigger, badder and stinkier than before!
Man, looking at just how murky of an area Deep Darkness is, I'm sure as lucky that it doesn't exist in real life. The fact that Ness, Paula, and Jeff have to wade through it to the point where the only parts of their bodies that are visible are their hair (or in Ness' case, his baseball cap) makes me gag as to what would happen if I was in their situation...
Plus crocos and eels and demon plants and barf and more barf and Undyne Jr. And their brother AND DID I MENTION BARF LIKR THERE ARE 3 BARF ENEMIES HOLY CRAP THE SEWER ISNT AS BAD AS THIS
@@chern0ble377 Deep Darkness is a mostly normal swamp, except for all three barf enemies, but the Fourside sewer has living trash cans and hostile cockroaches everywhere. Also rats. Lots and lots of rats. And a big one.
I dunno, considering what a certain person does in Mother 3, I think if they had have died in a helicopter crash it would have saved us a lot of trouble. I wouldn't wish a helicopter crash on my worst enemy though. Also I have a similar story to Chugga. Only said bully commit suicide and I felt awful that I treated their rude comments with rudeness back. And it happened around the same time for me too, only I was in 8th grade. I swear Emile is my long lost older brother. And yes I'm playing Mother 3 blind and loving it.
I think I'd wish a helicopter crash on him, the shit that is all his fault in Mother 3 is probably deserving of whatever capital punishment you can think of... dark, but hard to like the guy
Pretty sure Healing Omega is still single-target. The only thing it has over Gamma is that it's a guaranteed full-revive instead of a random revive with some HP.
Chugga, you might not read this, but I want to thank you so much for making these videos. My grandma passed away today, and your video was the one thing that brightened my day.
I actually have a similar story. I was the new kid in a small town and there was this one kid who always kept making fun of my last name. Now, I admit my last name is a bit unusual and people get it wrong all the time, but this was the first time someone every actually made fun of me for it. Quite a few other kids joined in, and I tried telling the teachers but it didn't really help at all. He kept doing it for years and it felt like everyone else was on his side. I didn't know who to be friends with because everyone laughed at his jokes. Eventually I switched electives and as such changed classes, so we didn't see each other much. After a few years, he was a still classmate and I still thought of him as "they guy who picked on me" but that was just about our relationship. And then, during our senior year, he was killed by a drunk driver. All around me, there were people saying how he was such a nice, sweet boy, always kind and nice, and all I could think of him was "the guy who picked on me and never got in trouble for it. The guy who never said sorry". It was really awkward for me so I just kept my mouth shut. I don't think we ever would have been friends, we had very different interests, but I still think about him once in a while. I do wish we could have cleared the air between us and at least spoken to each other. Hearing your story Chuggaa makes me feel a little less alone in the world.
I hate how well the music fits this map. It makes me feel so anxious going through the swamp. On an unrelated note, I remember you mentioning that bully from your youth before (probably on TRG, I don't exactly know.). That's a commendable driving force for finding positivity in life.
I’ve seen a manlier spear warrior fish. And ironically it was a she: The handing fee thing didn’t make sense to me the first time I read it, cause I assumed it meant that the instant you take out the money the guy would immediately collect it and therefore you were essentially burning money trying to take any out. I think it was only upon trying it when I had so much money it was no biggie to burn that I realized it just meant it takes from the account directly instead of from on hand There IS another pain I’d argue for 1/128 but manly fish brother probably takes first Funny, Somecallmejohnny also had Ness homesick at master Belch And lastly, PK Starstorm. As much as I will “dump” on Poo, and the stupid level curve with him being the one to leave, I give that starstorm does help him stand out: because it manages to work as another total screen nuke (as opposed to paula’s fire) that manages to be powerful without costing as much as ness’ high level PSI attack. Of course, it still sucks he doesn’t have the highest PSI pool.
Azaan is right! Sometimes, whenever dire situations appear, all you can do is to stay positive and optimistic. Cause that's all you can really do. Though, it can be pretty tough at times, since we're only human, and we want to cry and/or be angry at something. But, if you practice it long enough, in time, you'll get a hang of being positive. There are people who decide to be a beam of optimism in order to bring some sort hope into whatever is happening. That's what I do all the time! The world is so dark, especially nowadays, there have to be people who want to make other people happy in the right way.
4:15 Otherwise known as a Rafflesia. 5:53 No Knocku Blocku Towah here. 7:05 I mean that’s not inaccurate. Remember Thanatos’s smile? 8:30 And if you don’t and you refuse to buy Bottles of DX Water from the nearby shady guy, look up a guide for Magic Truffle locations. 13:20 Does it beat Jeff’s strongest gun though? 17:08 And that’s saying something when you hear so many stories about the Sword of Kings and even Star Pendants. 18:06 With you being all the more weaker after he uses Healing Omega. 19:45 I’m amazed it took Ness this long to become homesick again. In my playthrough Ness kept getting homesick in the pyramid... 20:00 An offensive PSI move exclusive to Poo? And it doesn’t use up any PP (it actually does; this is just scripted). 22:15 Surprised Emile didn’t offload the IQ Capsule and Rock Candy onto Poo as soon as he came back just to free up more inventory.
But getting a Horn of Life from a Manly Fish’s Brother is actually slightly less rare in practice than getting a Star Pendant from a Major Psychic Psycho. If the Many Fish drops the Beef Jerky 1 in 32 times, the probability of getting a Horn of Life would be 31 in 4,096, or approximately 1 in 132. If the Psychic Psychi has a 1 in 64 chance of dropping the PSI caramel, the probability of getting a Star Pendant is 63 in 8,192, or approximately 1 in 130.
The next time you get a jerky item, try reading their Help descriptions. The jerkies have funny descriptions which I discovered in my most recent playthrough. One thing I love about EarthBound is being able to discover new amusing lines of dialouge every playthrough.
While I do also like that they implemented a blur-effect to people with epilepsy and similar conditions could also enjoy the game, I think there should also be an option to turn it off if you want to.
Couple years late, but I agree. The effect really bothers me because of how strong it is, and I wish I could have turned it off without having to hack my SNES Classic.
Listening to the part about the adjustments to prevent Epilepsy, I thought Emile was saying he thought it was a good for people to experience the Epilepsy, because to truly get an authentic 90's Earthbound experience, ya gotta go to the hospital both in-game and in real life.
Wow the story about the death of your bully was incredibly sad, it really made me appreciate Poky more and realize how much one changes throughout life...
Got up and cleaned the whole house, went and took care of all my errands, and just got out the shower. Now i sit down with a pizza to a earthbound episode. Life cant get better then this.
chuggaa is such a blessed being, from luck to just how pure you are m8. you are a saint mainly in the fact of your determination to do this for so long
I nearly killed everyone today. My lab partner in chemistry left the iodine for me to deal with. As I was carrying the covered tube of the toxic, I almost fainted of my low sugar levels, but forced myself forward as to not inadvertently murder an entire classroom. Well at least I saw a solid go to a gas. The solid is sparkly and silvery. The liquid is an ugly yellowish. The gas is the most potent, not just corrosive to the eyes and stomach, but also the lungs. It's a pretty magenta color.
I remember when we were doing some organic synthesis and bromine (a dark red liquid that releases toxic fumes even if cold) was needed, we couldn't be trusted with something that toxic so the professor added it for us, ironically he dropped some of it (it wasn't added under a fumehood) and we had to evacuate the lab
Jeez you kids deal with some dangerous stuff in school these days... When I was in high school all we did was learn about how to extract salt from water and discuss the periodic table. Now you gotta deal with iodine, corrosive elements, teachers armed with guns...
Regarding that story... Do you think that even the worst person could change? That everyone can be a good person, if they just try? I remember this one girl in middle school, who, young innocent me somehow ended up on bad terms with her very early in the school year. We had lockers next to each other, and hated each other’s guts. But the experience toughened me up, and I learned how to hold a grudge. Now, I didn’t hold a grudge very well, but I knew that it was there. Years of school pass, and the last time I saw her, she wasn’t as bad as she used to be. And the grudge kind of just died right then and there. Now some of her friends I wasn’t on best terms with either. But once I saw them again in high school, they were pretty nice to me. Of course, I’m sure most of them remember what used to be. But I’m glad I didn’t hold on to that grudge for very long, because through me toughening up while still being nice, I saw them nice too. PS yes they’re still alive, none of them died, not that I know of.
The music for Deep Darkness sounds like something I could expect from a SNES Final Fantasy. Sewer vs Swamp... The idea of the sewer is nastier, but you could probably also move through it more easily than a swamp. What is Jeff? Sounds like he's Batman.
I use the gaia beam instead of the heavy bazooka in terms of farming for some of the items because going to the items and selecting the bazooka takes more time than just beating the A button. That and also i get the bazooka very late into the game because i leave the broken bazooka in the escargo express and forgot i had it in the first place.

I loved that zoomout to the full map of the area , pretty dramatic. I also like how the Demonic Petunia spawns around where the boss does. A theory cropped up that Belch became immune to Fly Honey after beating him senseless while he was gorging on it. Also he still had a source of some kind of honey because of aforementioned Petunia. Those enemies seem to be inspired by the rafflesia, which is also called a corpse flower. What was Belch known for last time we saw him? Zombies.
I know that if your going to Winters Chugga, then make sure to use Jeff's spy ability on the Lesser Mooks as they sometimes have Multi-Bottle Rockets. Just wanted to see if Chugga knew about this. ;)
I noticed that you still have the Snake bag on Ness. If there aren’t any future special interactions, try giving it to the Escargo Express for more inventory space.
Emile, you're story of the bully only makes the whole phrase of "You are the luckiest man alive" even more true. Getting one of the best ways out of a shitty scenario like that. As someone who has been relentlessly bullied and even stalked for up to 7 years, I could not wish upon a more definitive ending
I figured something out about the Manly Fish's Brother. When you battled them the first time, it played the sanctuary boss theme. When you battled them the second time, it played a standard enemy theme. After watching you play EarthBound for THIS long, I've figured out that the enemy battle theme is determined by which enemy you touch on the field. Given what you said about touching the Manly Fish vs. the Manly Fish's Brother, this probably means that it has a higher chance of dropping the Horn of Life if the sanctuary boss theme is playing.
So Emile, do you actually teleport all the way to fourside and sleep in a hotel just so you can get the newspaper, all just for the end card? Cause if so that's dedication
This episode: We explore Deep Darkness, fight some enemies, and when we are in a pinch... PK... STARSTORM!!! Also: It's finally time where Jeff unleashes the Sougo Okita inside him and decimate every enemy with the Heavy Bazooka!
So for the eagle eye that delivery man went though all of eagle land all though summers ALL across the ocean just for that delivery... wow even more for a pizza guy...
First time to play this game. Glad i did. No regrets. I Just want to say that I really enjoyed your LP with commentary. You are so fun to watch. I've also learned so many things (history/trivias) regarding the game' itself just by listening to you.. Thanks.
Chuggaa, have you noticed that even if you’re crying, the bazooka ignores the fact you’re crying and hits them anyway. It’s like he’s crying for the fact that the monster’s can’t blind his bazooka shots.
You all remember the original let's play where it took like six or seven episodes before Poo came back? This first thought I had this time was "that was quick."
I never would’ve known that the zap eels were rare. I ran into about 7 of them in this area In that photo man spot, Jeff was phasing into the ground for me
I'm no programmer, but maybe the reason Poo has to leave your party to learn Starstorm is because there are 2 Poos programmed into the game. The First Poo you get can't learn any form of Starstorm in this state, while the Second Poo is a copy of the initial one copying his stats and any items that aren't required for the story until he rejoins but this one has Starstorm programmed into his learn set this time. That's my theory anyways.
The Zap Eel, Even Slimier Little Pile, and Big Pile of Puke are all enemies I often go whole playthroughs without seeing. Interesting to see them all here.
Something that was incorrect. Thunder gamma isn't just thunder alpha plus two. Gamma ups the power of each hit, as evidenced by checking the skill in the menu and the new animation.
Oh that's funny. I have no previous knowledge of the game whatsoever and yesterday I thought that using teleport to quickly navigate through the swamp would be a nice idea and now you mentioned it in the video :D
a cooler idea instead of an invisible wall: if they made two almost identical paths; one where you enter the darkness and one elsewhere that you walk up through. when you walk up the other path, of the hawk eye hasn’t been used, it instantly moves your whole party back to the entrance, so it seems as though you’ve gone in a circle somehow.
Well geez Emile, way to make me nervous on my first item hunt in a few weeks. I knew it was going to be rough when I read up on the guide but are you saying my patience is truly going to be put to the ultimate test? To that I say... bring it on.... I’ve been itching to chill and hunt recently and we’ve finally found our next target, and I will not be satisfied until I take that horn of life from the grasp of that grotesque fish’s corpse!
I loved poo's stormin' return. I hated master belch battle, because i spent a lot of time figuring out you needed to use the item, so when i saw him again here, and he was stronger, it was unpleasant. And it seems an epic ending to the battle too
Interesting tidbit: The dragon belonging to the characters Ruffnut and Tuffnut has two heads and they are separately named Barf and Belch. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but it smells like a reference to me!
Dang. I did the 1/128 challenge in summer of 2018, and I can't believe I got a horn of life without trying. It was my first MFB (maybe second one but I'm not sure). When I got that item, I remember pacing around my room for 5 minutes. I was freaking out. That moment right there saved SO MANY hours of my summer. How lucky must I be?

Yeah but he's not actually playable (not to mention I don't think he's that good of an assist trophy).

Im Excited For The Hour Long Episode Where He Gets The Sword Of Kings
Hey that’s what I’ve been saying but yes I agree
He gets it first try, rest of video is him screaming.
Sry, I'm new to earthbound, is the sword of kings an item drop?
The Sword Of Kings is a 1/128 Item and is Poo's ONLY weapon
Poo can also use the yo-yos, but they actually DECREASE his attack power.

This is just one of those things that’s too perfect, and I think people have every right to not believe it, but I actually got a Horn of Life from the Manly Fish’s Brother on my first playthrough. But, I didn’t know it was rare. I just took it and was on my way, not finding out about the rarity of that happening until a couple of years later.
Did you get it first enemy? If so, you might have had Chugga luck.
Klavice Gavin Not quite, but I do remember that I only saw two or three the whole time, so it was still pretty close to that insane level of luck.

Wow, that was a really personal story you shared, Emile. Thank you for sharing. A lot of people, myself included, have experienced varying cases of bullying but never share much. Funny comments on enemies encountered
Zap Eel: A distant ancestor of the Zapfish, perhaps?
BOSS
Master Barf: He's bigger, badder and stinkier than before!
To be honest though, I still think I’d rather wade through a swamp than a sewer...
Plus crocos and eels and demon plants and barf and more barf and Undyne Jr. And their brother AND DID I MENTION BARF LIKR THERE ARE 3 BARF ENEMIES HOLY CRAP THE SEWER ISNT AS BAD AS THIS
The ElectrOStudios Sewers are gross but I’d take bad smell and rats over dealing with mosquitos and wading through murky water
@@chern0ble377 I think it would depend on which swamp and which sewer

Pretty sure Healing Omega is still single-target. The only thing it has over Gamma is that it's a guaranteed full-revive instead of a random revive with some HP.
Yup you're right!
Chugga, you might not read this, but I want to thank you so much for making these videos. My grandma passed away today, and your video was the one thing that brightened my day.
Jeez man, that’s sad to hear. Hope you get through it
My condolences.
That was a very nice map zoom out! Change in aspect ratio really added to the impact of the reveal
Is the Cargo Express guy psychic? Cause he has to be in order to make it to a damn island that drains your health.

That or he's secretly stalking the gang...
@@rggrill3588Then how do they get to Happy Happy Village?
I hate how well the music fits this map. It makes me feel so anxious going through the swamp.
On an unrelated note, I remember you mentioning that bully from your youth before (probably on TRG, I don't exactly know.). That's a commendable driving force for finding positivity in life.
BlueKnight85 He mentioned them in a 50 facts video he did.
I’ve seen a manlier spear warrior fish. And ironically it was a she:
The handing fee thing didn’t make sense to me the first time I read it, cause I assumed it meant that the instant you take out the money the guy would immediately collect it and therefore you were essentially burning money trying to take any out. I think it was only upon trying it when I had so much money it was no biggie to burn that I realized it just meant it takes from the account directly instead of from on hand
There IS another pain I’d argue for 1/128 but manly fish brother probably takes first
Funny, Somecallmejohnny also had Ness homesick at master Belch
And lastly, PK Starstorm.

I thought of the Australian Bananas jingle, "make your body sing". Pffft. Silly me.
You make everything...pukey...
Why is Emile always such an optimist even in the most dire of situations?
Azaan Noor because being a force for positivity is extremely rewarding! :D
@@squidkiller1022 I'd kill for that kind of optimism

FYI The Demonic Petunia is actually a Rafflesia flower.
Isnt that supposed to be Venasaur?
@@squadalaguydc No, you're thinking of a pokemon. I'm thinking of a real flower. Look up the corpe flower if you don't believe me.

You dodged a bullet there.

Original Gameteer *Slow clap of approval* good job.
Daw hecc got to it before me
I loved that zoomout to the full map of the area , pretty dramatic.
Just wanted to see if Chugga knew about this. ;)
Live and let live, Chuggaa, you can't be friends with everyone, but do them no harm.
Since the heavy bazooka replaces you regular attack I think it would be a good idea to unequip Jeff's main weapon to free up inventory space.
”Here Paula eat a salt packet”
I couldn’t stop laughing
Emile, you think a pile of vomit looks like earthbound? Two huge Misspeaks!
I didn't think the 1/128 challenge could sound any more insane but I've been proven wrong...
"you never need to use Jeff's normal attack again." < Continues to use Jeff's normal attack pretty much every other turn.

It’s like he’s crying for the fact that the monster’s can’t blind his bazooka shots.
that zoom map part looked pixel perfect
You all remember the original let's play where it took like six or seven episodes before Poo came back? This first thought I had this time was "that was quick."
7:45 Jeff inside Paula? Double meaning anyone?
No, I don't think he meant anything aside from the sprite layeri-OF COURSE HE MEANT THAT!
I never would’ve known that the zap eels were rare. I ran into about 7 of them in this area
In that photo man spot, Jeff was phasing into the ground for me
I'm no programmer, but maybe the reason Poo has to leave your party to learn Starstorm is because there are 2 Poos programmed into the game. The First Poo you get can't learn any form of Starstorm in this state, while the Second Poo is a copy of the initial one copying his stats and any items that aren't required for the story until he rejoins but this one has Starstorm programmed into his learn set this time.
That's my theory anyways.
Never thought we’d find a place darker than Emile’s mind!
That's easy actually, with how optimistic he is.
Take a shot each time Chugga explains that water attacks do the same thing as fire attacks
The Zap Eel, Even Slimier Little Pile, and Big Pile of Puke are all enemies I often go whole playthroughs without seeing. Interesting to see them all here.
Chuggaaconroy is my reason for living.

Honestly, same.
"Belch has also changed his name to PUKE!"? Ah, so that's what it's called when the food poisoning escalates...

I forget what happens when enemies in EarthBound do that...
Guts went down by 2-7 points
Something that was incorrect. Thunder gamma isn't just thunder alpha plus two. Gamma ups the power of each hit, as evidenced by checking the skill in the menu and the new animation.
that zoom out was so clean tho, i feel like games with maps should have transitions like that

Oh that's funny. I have no previous knowledge of the game whatsoever and yesterday I thought that using teleport to quickly navigate through the swamp would be a nice idea and now you mentioned it in the video :D
You fought the big pile of Puke while I was eating pizza...
I feel bad about how much Chugga *craps on Poo's head*

Ok, jokes aside, I still feel bad for how he keeps telling how bad Poo is haha
a cooler idea instead of an invisible wall: if they made two almost identical paths; one where you enter the darkness and one elsewhere that you walk up through. when you walk up the other path, of the hawk eye hasn’t been used, it instantly moves your whole party back to the entrance, so it seems as though you’ve gone in a circle somehow.
7:39 Hey wait a minute... If the photo man doesn't have the Hawkeye wouldn't the picture he took just be nothing but pitch black?
In this episode, Belch got hit with a rock, from space, and died. Looks like he got *Popstarred*
So basically,
Ness is Superman
Paula is WonderWoman
and Jeff is Batman.
I cracked the case, the court can go home to chuggaa's videos now.
been chain watching this series made it this far so far non stop :) love the memories
Don't be so hard on the little prince - after all, when Barf comes back up, all you need is to squeeze through with Poo.
