I recall an interview with Noel where he said Liam came to him and asked if he ripped off Wonderwall caus Liam heard this playing in a store and thought this was from the 50's and thought Noel had stolen the song hahaha
OMG that made me laugh 🤣 I still play it at Xmas gigs 😃, lovely warm up track for the eve, surprises many peeps who have never heard it, a true master class classic never to repeated, kudos Mike Flowers love it to bits..👍♥️
Saw this on afternoon TV back in the late 90s. Cracked me up big time. Since then, no one else knew what I was referring to. But now I have the proof. Thanks for posting! LOVE IT!
Dolf Zeevogel The world wasn't ready for Mike, he time travelled forward too far. Meant to hit the 50s but slipped and hit the 90s by accident. The song was a secret favourite to an underground thing but people who openingly spoke of it the street would be nutted Last I heard Mike hit the bottle hard after this, big bottles of milk! lol This version actually gets cooler the older it gets and this type will come round again. Be ready Mike!!!
@@mercifulzeus01 He did an MA in Music at Goldsmiths (2012-14). He has since scored music for film and television, and made music documentaries for Sky Arts and London's Barbican Centre. How Art Made Pop is his first book published in 2018. Still does the occasional gig too.
He was and still is a very talented composer and arranger! The Mike Flowers Pops spun off from him doing a couple of these style parodies for a radio show and then being encouraged to do full versions of them, but he never had any intention of doing it full time. He still does do a couple of gigs a year though.
Just brilliant to deconstruct a song, re-present it in an entirely different musical genre and have it work, let alone create another classic version. It's quite a rare achievement. This is possibly the best example since the Byrds 'Mr Tambourine Man'
Skerries73 the original only hit number two aswell. iit got stuck behind robson and jeromes version of "I believe". because the british public buy anything they see on tv
Amazing how changing the arrangment can make the song so different... from grungie indie pop to smooth lounge in one move. Love love love this version as much as the original. It's my guilty pleasure...
Strange world. I was truck driving in Saudi with other Brits back then. We would bring tapes of top of the pops back to the 'villa' where we lived - along with coronation street, it was still good then - for reminders of home. So, this was the first version of this that I heard. You know how we always think the first version you heard is the best... I couldn't get the fuss about Oasis, they didn't sing it right! Ah well after 'Don't look back in anger' I reconsidered them!
Only recently have I discovered this stunningly spectacular rendition of Oasis. Coming from a huge oasis fan, I must say this IS better than the original.
This cover is AWESOME!! At that time this single came out, we had a discussion about what was the original . Our neighbour thought this was the original. What better compliment can you give !!! thanx for posting this one. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Far better than the original! And you know what, something strange and sweet happens every time i heard that: I imagine mike patton dancing in my kitchen wearing a cooking apron and nothing more...
Mike Flowers, you have my respect! Excellent smooth lounge delivery with panache. A respectful presentation, skilled and talented musicians set to the sensuous swagger of lovely women in evening dresses! Good work!
LOL i had the same experience with Light my fire. i heard the disco version by Amii Stewart first, and i love it. Later i learned its a Doors-classic and i love them too... so strange
Honestly, i prefer this classic version. I first heard this version first and then i heard the original Oasis version. I prefer this one over Oasis because it's mroe clearer, more upbeat.
All the people pissed off about this great cover of Wonderwall are showcasing one of the things that killed their precious rock and roll: When people started taking it too seriously..
I'll say it....BIBLICAL!!!! 🤗
Its been 11 years since i posted this video and you are the first one to write this. No joke.
Whale Oil Beef Hooked......BAHAHAHA!!!
... Hourargh!!
Yeah baybee poppadoodletastic !
Nailed it
I recall an interview with Noel where he said Liam came to him and asked if he ripped off Wonderwall caus Liam heard this playing in a store and thought this was from the 50's and thought Noel had stolen the song hahaha
Yowoooqo9qiawiwií88181 11
Yo lol this came on randomly on my I tunes shuffle under easy listening and I was like no wayyy oasis didn’t write this 😳
🤣🤣🤣
OMG that made me laugh 🤣 I still play it at Xmas gigs 😃, lovely warm up track for the eve, surprises many peeps who have never heard it, a true master class classic never to repeated, kudos Mike Flowers love it to bits..👍♥️
🤣
"No, not that one, kid, just every other one."
I heard Oasis did a cover of this song ahahaha
This the cover of the oasis song
flowerofthesouth It was a joke...
sorry :D
& just shouted as opposed to sang it as I remember
liam whitcombe are you for real?
The guy is actually an absolutely awesome producer/arranger, also this was the last single to reach number one in England that was recorded in mono
As a hardcore fan of Oasis, I actually enjoy this. Fucking briliant cover.
Suko Laynon Even Oasis liked this version, and that's very rare!
This is the original from the sixties
Mike Flower Pops sung the original
I hope you are being sarcastic!
Warren G No, it LOOKS like it's from the sixties.
Everything about this video and cover are perfect. I have listened to this version hundreds of time and I never get sick of it. It's perfect.
This is probably the most valuable gift society has ever received
Marisa That is an excellent sentiment and I agree.
The video is genius and always puts a smile on my face :)
I could disagree with you, but then I would be wrong.
There are many things that I would like to say to you but I don’t know how.
I love the over the top camera work. The excessive number of angles, the dolly zoom that jarringly leads to a crane shot... it's just wonderful.
This is Oasis + Austin Powers in one song
They actually were on the soundtrack for the first Austin powers film
I like this far more than the original, ever since I first heard it many years ago.
Finally, an original, creative cover! XD
+Lisa Galarza This is 20 years old!
Saw this on afternoon TV back in the late 90s. Cracked me up big time. Since then, no one else knew what I was referring to. But now I have the proof. Thanks for posting! LOVE IT!
Where is Mike Flowers and why doesn't he enlighten the world with his brilliance anymore?
Dolf Zeevogel The world wasn't ready for Mike, he time travelled forward too far. Meant to hit the 50s but slipped and hit the 90s by accident.
The song was a secret favourite to an underground thing but people who openingly spoke of it the street would be nutted

@BestCanKeanRob2 I believe he was (maybe still is) a lecturer at Chelsea College of Arts.
@@mercifulzeus01 He did an MA in Music at Goldsmiths (2012-14). He has since scored music for film and television, and made music documentaries for Sky Arts and London's Barbican Centre. How Art Made Pop is his first book published in 2018. Still does the occasional gig too.

He died of a hairoin overdose
One of my favourite cover versions and favourite videos of all time - never get sick of hearing this or watching this. It's PERFECTION
Just brilliant to deconstruct a song, re-present it in an entirely different musical genre and have it work, let alone create another classic version. It's quite a rare achievement. This is possibly the best example since the Byrds 'Mr Tambourine Man'
To be fair, the Byrds was from Folk to Folk-Rock. I don't know if I'd call that a radically different genre. Still superbly done, though.
If you're into that, check out Sons of Pitches' cover of Mmbop
Postmodern JukeBox
Simply loverly and mellow stuff x
this got to number 2 in the UK a few months after the original topped the charts :D
Skerries73 the original only hit number two aswell. iit got stuck behind robson and jeromes version of "I believe". because the british public buy anything they see on tv
Whilst this was no2 christmas week,Oasis were no11 with their "cover" of this song
Wat year !!
Noel Gallagher was laughing all the way to the bank.
Amazing how changing the arrangment can make the song so different... from grungie indie pop to smooth lounge in one move. Love love love this version as much as the original. It's my guilty pleasure...

He really did an amazing job of creating a 1960's rendition of a classic 1990's song.Zeprefel thanks for posting!

One of the best cover versions of any song I have ever heard. So well done - even with a touch of comedy.

Brilliant! See how a little light-heartedness can bring such exquisite pleasure, even after 19-some years later. I am lovin it! MFP!
the best cover in the history of covers!!!!
Happy new years Mike flowers
To be 100% honest I actually like this version 😂✌🏼
@FabFM hehehe, nice trick to say it´s the"discovered original version", that´s really hilarious, and it´s not the worst promo & marketing strategy ;)
I've always loved this. Excellent!
This makes me so happy. I watch it daily to keep my hopes up during online school.
Aww. You will be back at school soon enough, then you will be wishing you were back home. 😊
Mike Flowers, the most under rated musician of the late 20th century.
I love this!!!
The best version. Brings me the Cool Groove ...

I would drive my friends nuts with this as a kid :)
Good times.

This was the first version of Wonderwall I ever came in contact with. I was admittedly surprised when I heard the original.
LOL i had the same experience with Light my fire. i heard the disco version by Amii Stewart first, and i love it. Later i learned its a Doors-classic and i love them too... so strange
This one
This is so...marvellous! I love it.

MIKE! you are a sensational performer here! Like no other; a truly fantastic "cover" which many of us find superior to the original!

All the people pissed off about this great cover of Wonderwall are showcasing one of the things that killed their precious rock and roll: When people started taking it too seriously..
