If you love fishing and cannot afford a boat I highly recommend a kayak. I have a couple of friends with boats and I catch just as many fish as they do if not sometimes more on my kayak. Just being able to get into the back marshes and site cast dozens of redfish by itself is worth investing in a kayak.
I have never been a fan of standing in a kayak, and, casting, I feel like the biggest advantage is being able to paddle efficiently and travel against the wind, and the bigger kayaks that you can stand in, are usually not favorable for paddling
Great video! How has your experience been parking and leaving ur truck there as far as security? I run a Hobie with the mirage drive. Is the mirage drive more of a hinderance than a convenience back in that area due to shallow depth? I just bought a place in AP and am looking forward to booking a trip with you this spring. Thanks!
I’ve never had a problem with security along the causeway there’s always a police presence and never had an issue… On low tide, peddling kayaks can be a hindrance if the Tide is high that’s not an issue, but generally, that is a very shallow water area
I’ve fished this area several times, kayak heaven!!!!
Dean,
Another awesome report! I didn't think I could want to go fishing MORE, but now I do!😀
Hi Dean, on your top water baits when you replace your trebles with a J hook, what size hook do you replace it with?
Love that place! Electric lake for the win 🎣
You got that right!
This type of info is priceless!!! I love taking lots of different baits.

Totally agree !!!
in that area where would you go? Fly fission? I fish a lot of the Bayside , habitat
Fly fishing sorry
My experience as an avid outdoorsman I have learned when wildlife is moving so are fish. Morning and evening feeding activity are timely for both.
Now I know what it looks like on the other side.
Dean, can you sight cast reds out of the Tarpon 160? Why not a stand in kayak? Love the video.

Dean what is the closest tide gauge you can see what the tides might be in the LHL?

Fantastic video! When you throw a 1/16 oz jighead, are you using a light action rod?

As dumb as this sounds are there saltwater gators back there in those lakes. Do you carry a pistol?
