Thank you for clearing it up, the differences between the models! I was looking all over the internet for an explanation for the difference between the 1211 and 1213! Looks like I will be ordering the 1213 because I'd want the plastic sheath.
The material of the sheath is Glass Filled Nylon (shortened as GFN) not Kydex, although they feel and look alike in fact these two are completely distinct materials, also note that GFN sheath is harder than Kydex therefore, when pulling out your knife you should avoid letting the blade side abrase with the sheath itself, since it will gradually dullen your blade if you keep doing it, so always let the spine side touch the sheath when deploying for not damaging the razor sharp blade
Trust me it's sharp" I cut my finger deep last night trying to take it out of the leather sheath one handed..applied pressure with Celox to stop bleeding.. great knife.. I also want the BK2 & BK9
Damn you're the best! I have the 1213 and I was like "No! No!! No way!!! I got some Chinese crap!!" and you verified that's how it works with the models being 1211. The second was that multiple sites and people say that the only difference between these two knives are the handle. So imagine my shock when I saw the 1217 to be longer. Thanks for clearing that up! I'm gonna get a beer after that shock (got my 1217 today).
I got this knife and I love it. The reason it's shorter than the satcked leather handle version is because the leather version has plastic spacers at both ends. That's why the US military will not use Kabar because they are not mil-spec like the originals. blades in military circulation were phosphate coated as well. I don't know why, but my stacked leather handle on my USMC Kabar looks really beat up, I've used different typoes of leather polish, preservatives and still keeps getting worse, it's like I sweat acid in my palms and I've only had my USMC Kabar for about 8 months so I bought this one. But I also bought it as a replacement because I love my Kabar, I chopped small trees down with it, and cut so many things with it, so I am very happy with it. This Kabar will be strictly for self defense and light utility purposes only.
Thanks for reading the differences in the knifes. I was going to get the 1213 but opted for the 1214 after you mentioned it had the serrations. Great vid, thanks again.
Awesome knife! When I was looking at which knife to buy, I ran into Ka Bar and skipped it. After a while I ran into it again and the more I watched it I fell in love.
The new 1211 models are a great design all around, the handle, sheath, everything. In my opinion the best ones KaBar have ever made. Sadly here in South Australia they are 'illegal' in this nanny state of a country!
Great video! I also just bought mine on Amazon, and you answered all of my questions. Was wondering about the numbering of the 1211 myself. Very well explained. Thank you!
The canvas slide at the top got so aggravating for me I took some tin snips and cut that off. I think it improved the holster for my use. If and when. LOL
I have, had three labra but none were actually Kabar branded. Two are Camillus and one is a Case. The Case and one Camillus I have to my son. The Camillus I had used quite a bit camping etc though the Case was NIB. The second Camillus was marked US Navy Mark II with no handle so I kept it and rehandled it. Great user!
My buddy thats a Marine just got me a 1212. Came with the leather sheath but I just ordered the kydex one. I was going to get the Nylon but I think i will like the kydex best. Great review!
I have the 1212. I use it all the time on my channel. I love my 1212 but for bushcraft the 1211 would probably be better. I don't need the sereated edge but it still works for my needs. Thanks for clearing up the numbering system.
I have a KA-BAR USMC which saw action in WWII. It belonged to a man I bought a house from, he was a Marine WWII vet. Unfortunately I never got to meet him. I found the knife in a drawer in the garage work table. No sheath saw the markings, I asked a neighbor and he told me about the previous owner and what he knew about the knife. I've cleaned it some, very carefully, I tried to leave most of the patina, I rarely use it it is still very sharp. A really good looking knife. If this knife could only talk I can only imagine the stories it could tell.
Hey man I just purchased an Ontario Gen2 Sp47 knife for only $39 at knife Center its an awesome knife for that price its a crazy deal. Anyways it has that kraton grip and 5160spring steel, I love the old k-bar look to, these Ontario's come with a really good coating the sheath sucks but dang its 65% off so I had to buy one;)
++ RGS 1775 - QUESTION: I'm curious if it was really just the sheath that dissuaded from purchasing the Ka-Bar Becker BK-2? Nice review by the way, and your Ka-Bar 1213 is handsome indeed. Thank you ESPECIALLY for explaining the nuances among the different models, i.e. 1211, 1212, 1213, 1214 ... Kind of annoying they stamp all the knives with the same 1211 number. Charge another $5 and get the model number right, that's what I'd suggest.
Ordinarily I don't like coated blades either... however, I got the modified tanto Kabar and polished the primary bevel to a zero/scandi grind... looks kinda cool now, and way sharper than out of box. For the stacked leather handle fix, I got a Blackjack 1-7.
I have the BK2, BK9 and Ka-Bar 1213. I'm waiting on the second two to come in the mail right now but I've had the bk2 for a while. DEFINITELY a TANK of a knife. There is just absolutely no destroying it. It will last for the rest of eternity. Lol

Dude I love your energy
I love your review
And I love your positivity
Your just as awesome as the knife

The things you do for love

I love my 1211 I just bought it a few days go and by far the best one I’ve bought by far!
Greetings from U.S.If anywhere, you definitely could use a KBAR in Australia.
@@richk320 I was thinking the same thing! If anywhere you need a KA-BAR it's Australia. Everything kills you there! I've seen your spiders!! 😱😬
Great video! I also just bought mine on Amazon, and you answered all of my questions. Was wondering about the numbering of the 1211 myself. Very well explained. Thank you!
I ordered right while watching this video, finally found someone to point me between the handles. This is gonna be a hard week to wait through.
I believe that top rung on the belt loop is to secure it to your LBE for jumping out of airplanes
Excellent video. Thanks for explaining the numbers. I ordered one today and noticed the numbers mystery just from UA-cam vids...
Very nice review, I'm getting one. Thanks!
it's a drop leg loop so you can extend it down your leg further
It is mainly for a back, side, or chest concealed harness.
Exactly a drop leg attachment point.
I have the 1211 with the leather sheath but really want the plastics sheath ... it's a great knife and I am also a landscaper and use it all the time.
The canvas slide at the top got so aggravating for me I took some tin snips and cut that off. I think it improved the holster for my use. If and when. LOL
So this is the 1213 right, off amazon, I'll have to get one now

If you want a quiet sheath, get the leather one. No rattle. I've had mine since the early 80's and I love it.
25 min. after I wrote to Ka-Bar email support I got a response back with a complete data sheet for both knives. Damn that support is insane.
You had me laughing but kept my attention! Great video man, mine was just delivered and I totally love it
My buddy thats a Marine just got me a 1212. Came with the leather sheath but I just ordered the kydex one. I was going to get the Nylon but I think i will like the kydex best. Great review!
Ordered a 1214 last week i’m really excited
The sheath is fiberglass reinforced nylon. It can withstand 30,000 lbs of pressure.
I have the 1212. I use it all the time on my channel. I love my 1212 but for bushcraft the 1211 would probably be better. I don't need the sereated edge but it still works for my needs. Thanks for clearing up the numbering system.
Idiots be like: I drove over my kbat with a tractor, throw it out of a Boeing 747 at 30000 ft......knife failed.
Great review.
I have that same knife and I love 💘 it
Good review! Iam definitely going to purchase this knife

Knives can talk all you need is some good drugs.
I snap the annoying strap inside the belt loop. It stays out of the way and allows for easy deployment.
Will the USMC KA-BAR work with the black sheath?
ThePatrioticAmerican yes it will!
RGS 1775 THANK YOU!!! I really needed to know because this is what i get for good grades
A bit spastic, but a nice review all the same. :D Cheers!
U sold me on the ambidextrous sheath, I like your energy keep it up and change the camera views a lil

Great review I'm looking forward to your next review thx and I'm subing
Can’t speak on the rest of the bk series but my bk9, beautiful knife very strong and sturdy but the sheath is atrocious
Got the 1211 with the leather sheath, but bought the plastic 1213 sheath
you seem really energetic
Great review!
LOL i love your style!

Great knife but I like the stacked leather handle better and I hate the painted blades.. I wish Ka-bar would retutn to the parkerized blades.
Ordinarily I don't like coated blades either... however, I got the modified tanto Kabar and polished the primary bevel to a zero/scandi grind... looks kinda cool now, and way sharper than out of box. For the stacked leather handle fix, I got a Blackjack 1-7.
im trying to decide between the leather handle KA-BAR and the black rubber handle one and i cant decide which to buy. which one would you recommend?
Dude you're hilarious man keep up the good work!
I have the BK2, BK9 and Ka-Bar 1213. I'm waiting on the second two to come in the mail right now but I've had the bk2 for a while. DEFINITELY a TANK of a knife. There is just absolutely no destroying it. It will last for the rest of eternity. Lol
All knifes is diferent in materials ,use and etc ,or are diferents in color
Verry good
The ka bar modified tanto is way better shape personally but if ypur brand new an dont know any better what ever
is the blade the same as the usmc model just different handle?
I believe the only difference on the blade is the black coating to prevent rusting
Serrated or straight? I am considering buying one.
Shout out to the landscapers
Do this plastic sheat dulls the blade?
I bought a kabar last week
Made in china
maybe it needs some stropping first?
I got mine on eBay on a discount so paid 47$ for it
I need this
Ambidextrous teriyaki chicken. Lol
I cut that snap strap off of my sheath. Don't need it. That knife WILL NOT fall out.
What number is the marine core knife
1217
Mine just say USA it doesn't have the 1211
Are your friends with Bryan koberger 😂🤣😂
1095 cro van steel
What's the difference of the 1213vs1214
the 1214 has serrations on the lower half of the blade. (its the one i have)
Gary Van Derveer Why do people watch a video and not pay attention to what is being said.
That is the first thing he explained.
Just clip the strap on the back side!🙄
