yes, good training!
Someone with a metal detector would probably be really confused as to how many knife fights have happened there.

Naw they would go full retard and thing some mid evil battle was fought there

Im kinda surprised it hung on as long as it did. They're really a light to medium duty knife. Its one of those knives that you do have to take care of and be mindful what you use it for. Good job Joe! Cant wait for the next one lol.
u can bend it back! no problem!
@@joex 😂😂😂😂😂😂

To all those watching please note that this is only for entertainment. There is no order that he does things in and generally us humans subconsciously will take it harder on items that we don't like. Do not let this guy determine your next knife purchase. He breaks EVERY and I mean EVERY knife that he "test".
this is sience bro!
@@joex I love your videos brother and you are a great content creator. I think it would be more scientific if there was a certain order and amount of hits or something before moving to the next test. Instead of just trying to break the knife, maybe try like a gauntlet of sorts with an exact number of hits, stabs, ECT or at minimal a certain amount of time that you do the "test". Thank you for your comment brother.
The blade is excellent, but that tang... Why after all the years of criticism they still haven't made a full tang version it's incomprehensible.
the tang is so bad!
No kidding!!
To save money
It's a combat knife, not a survival knife or hatchet replacement.
@@m.g7809 have you seen or done much "combat"? I have pitched it as slowly as possible, but you missed it entirely, not only the point.
The Ka-bar held up well under the conditions, it can do what it was designed to do and has been doing for 80 years. It's a fine utility, hunting, and combat knife; Over 80 years and millions of men can't be wrong.
i think they are! bad tang, bendable....
Exactly as I suspected, apparently kabar is doing some pretty poor heat treating these days the Dutch Bushcraft kids had exactly the same result with both of the kabars that they tested and the second one they tested was a fairly high priced model.
DBK Kids, haha!!!
No it's just that these days we have UA-cam and people doing stupid things with knives for views and likes.
I thought it held up OK , but I was sure it would break on the car door , but the frame was loose , absorbing the shock, I think they are making the tang a little wider then the one they used on the BudK models
ok thanks for the info!
I still have my grandfather's Marine Ka-Bar from one Marine to another over 60 years of use and still in one piece & holding an edge. I had to give the leather sheath an oil treatment because I left it in storage & water leaked and got crusty. The funny thing is that old sheath sometimes serves as strap to hone my ESEE 6 & modern Ka-bar fighting knife.
ok cool!
We need Glock FM78 test again!
we sure do!
In 1994. I went in my military uniform with my friends soldiers in one restaurant and we have ordered pizzas.
The restaurant knife was dull as crap,
so I pulled my Ka-bar from the sheath and sliced the pizza.
The guys around me laughed like hell.
those ka-bars usable only as can opener.
we were throwing.mine at some door,
the handle broke in few minutes
cool story!
@@joex it is.
I still have that blade without handle.
I mean there is a handle but without leather wrapping and that bolster at the end
I think Cold steel made better version of Bowie than Ka-bar,
their Leatherneck SF in D2 steel
Leatherneck is for sure better!
I'm Brazilian and I follow your videos, I'd like to see you doing your tests with a knife from our cutler”Ricardo Vilar” he was one of the champions of the seventh season of “forged in fire”North American and Juror of the edition held in Latin America.he it also supplies knives to our military. I think it would be interesting to see how they fare in your tests.um abraço!!
cool, greetings to Brazil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe!
Ka-Bar are excellent knifes! The ( rat tail tang) is what it is called is a weakness that we know! But the KA-Bar isn’t a survival knife, it’s a 100% fighting knife, that’s its only purpose! Could you imagine how amazing this knife would be if it would be out of one piece of metal? I’m going to write KA-Bar to take that to mind, and they’ll be number one out there for sure!
some are good, some are bendable!
I love my KA-BAR and it is truly a piece of history.
The problem is that every time I use it, I think about that tiny rat tang and I know that a day will come when the knife bends....
I really appreciate how they are trying to "keep it real" with the design, but its time they acknowledged that thin rat tangs are an obsolete design these days.
The Ka-Bar was brilliant in its day, and it was an elegant solution for the following problem: giving soldiers the best possible utility combat knife with the most economic use of steel.
Well its not wartime anymore. Its about time they made a kabar with a much thicker tang.
Great work as always mate
Well said. I feel exactly the same. If it had a decent tang I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
ok cool! thanks!
I’m from Canada and decided to pick up a Ka bar … I looked up the knife the Canadian military use and they are called jump knife apparently…. They don’t look that good for multi use like the ka bar
Well said and wise words, time doesn’t stand still, even legends design could and should be re-engineered if necessary
Right. I use my KA-BAR for knife tasks, and a hammer for destroying cars.
Green handle kabar was also my first "expensive" knife when I started collecting in 2010... and I also bent mine :D
cool, bending is what they do!
It’s strangely cathartic watching JoeX take apart the knives. Also, good to know abandoned cars in the countryside isn’t just an American thing 😂
hell yeah, i love my Golfs!
I like the KA-Bar sheath because the knife fits the sheath both directions. Does this model have wider tang than the original knives? The Cold Steel Leatherneck has one, and I think that is a smart improvement over the original KA-BAR. 🤔
i think it has the same tang!!!
The finest craftsmanship 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Please wear long cuff welding gloves when trying to break the point of the knife. Your wrist is very vulnerable if the knife were to break with a piece sticking out of the log.
👍👍👍
Thank you for entertainment Joe X 😀. That was nice showcase for this knife model!
KA-BAR Heavy-Duty Warthog comes to my mind, when I think about this brand. Is it worth to buy for 103 € ? Looks beefy like little knife axe.
i am thinking about this blade in my dreams!
You have to remember this is a COMBQT knife meat to use as a weapon against soft flesh bags. Not as a chopping implement, a car stabber, or any of the other things you did with it. No US soldier or Marine carrying one of these would do the things you did...ever. They simply would never risk destroying what might be their only weapon.
i know that bro!
🎼 “Another one bites the dust! And another one don and another one down; another one bites the dust! “ 🎼😂😂😂😂 love it, JoeX!
cool, thanks my friend!
I'd enjoy seeing you thoroughly test the original leather handle/sheath style Ka-Bar.
thanks!
Great video Joe! Not impressive result for the KA-BAR, but also not extremely bad. That tang is really weird - it bended, but did not breake. I really like the tip of this knife. KA-BAR with good heat treated 1075 steel with wider tang would be superb! I wonder how good is Leatherneck SF by Cold Steel... 🙂 Overall best choice is surely Ontario SP-6 - In terms of military knives.
Bended
Yeah the tang sucks ass, but makes it lightweight. But on the other hand you don't save much on weight from that, lol.

I love how Glock can make a better combat knife than the infamous Ka-Bar at a fraction of the price. Even a Mora is better then a Ka-Bar. Great video as usual.
Exactly!
And have you also noticed how The Glock knives resemble the US M8
"TRENCH KNIFE" in design?
Just goes to show, you can take an old design, tweek construction, and with modern materials, produce an excellent Combat/Utility knife.
Why hasn't manufacturers who produce the Mk2
(KA-BAR) done this?
SENTIMENTALITY/NOSTALGIA, sells,
I'm guessing.

The tang of the Kabar is usually only 1/3 (one third) of the overall with, and it has 90° angles to it as well.
The knife looks great, but the tang is just shit. I wonder why they never improved on that main design flaw.

So many good blades made during WW II (EK, Randall, german blades...) and after (SOG, Gerber Mk II...) and this second-rate knife is THE legend for so many people That being said, the Ontario "Ka-bar" is far better than the Ka-Bar brand, you should give it a try (as it is pretty inexpensive).

It’s a knife. But you smashed it with a large piece of stone or concrete, used it as an axe, club, hammer, prybar, and spike to punch through car body metal. Activities for which it was not designed. And when it failed, people commenting on this video think it is a cheap piece of junk. Let me remind you, that American servicemen used it during wars from WWII to The Global War on Terror. It was meant to be an inexpensive, easily replaceable knife made by 100,000s. Currently in production are versions made with stacked leather handles, or rubber handles colored Tan, Black, Foliage, Grey and Blue. Also, you have your choice of versions stamped USMC, USN, US Army, USSF, USA, or just blank on the right side ricasso. And Made in Olean, NY on the left side ricasso. When used as a knife, it will last a lifetime. Its history and utility is relevant. It is still manufactured and used today. The Ka-Bar is not a good hammer or axe. But it is a great knife. If you don’t have a Ka-Bar somewhere in your kit, you must not have a clue for what you are doing. Also, you’re missing out on owning your own copy of a tool from a time in history that effected us all.
aweso me!
Cool video dude.
