when the Angel whispers to Harry that Maab can't change him it was so empowering at a disparate moment for him I was like "yeah!" I also love how Thomas isn't really totally controlled by his hunger after all. there is hope at the end of it.
I just finished Ghost Story and thought it was excellent. For the first time I'm up to date with a book series and now I have to wait!! Oh my God. Jim has an easy writing style which just keeps you engaged and reading all night.
In my opinion, Jim Butcher is a great writer. I just want to say, thank you for Harry Dresden. I've read a lot of books in my life. The series about Harry Dresden is at the absolute top of the list. Thanks again, Jim Butcher
Can't wait for Cold Days. The people who are saying Ghost Story sucks didn't actually understand the meaning why Jim Butcher wrote it that way. When I read Ghost Story the impact of the whole series came together, because the whole series was that Harry kept on getting hurt or almost killed. Jim Butcher changed how Harry got hurt, instead of getting physically, Harry is getting hurt emotionally. Great job Jim Butcher, again CAN'T WAIT FOR COLD DAYS.
Interesting difference from the Terry Pratchett method of 'start a book right after you finish the previous one'. I guess that explains the difference in novel count.
Take a look at the new Benedict Jacka series staring Alex Verus in volume one Fated . Verus is the anti Harry Dresden. An excellent read while waiting for Cold Days
I loved Ghost Story. But I loved Cold Days even more. I enjoyed the first few books, but I was never really into them until Dead Beat. Thats where it started getting good. Before that it was monster of the week. Lets kill it. the other characters were too cartoony too....and suddenly they developed into real characters. I love how everything ties in together. Now its my favorite series.
We can disagree. But I think we can also both agree that there are worse things than Death. I believe it heightens the tension. The Dresden Files have always included the darkness that's within Harry. Suppose there comes a point where that fully comes out? He'll do things that could very well make him wish he were dead. eh. Whatev. I fully enjoy the series, and while Ghost Story was not my favorite, it was solid Dresden.
June 23, 2020----Cliff hangers? Yeah, been there, done that more than once on one story I wrote, but haven't finished. Never thought of writing, but got challenged by others at a survivalists website at what I thought were unrealistic stories. I said okay, but let's make it REALISTIC...no Mad Max bs, no leaping over tall buildings in a single bound, an unlimited supply of ammo, etc. Was surprised that people actually like it and other stories I've written, saying I'm twisted, sick, demented, etc. Thing is, in my first story I've had the chapter end where something was happening. Why? Part of it was my mind was coming out with ideas for future chapters, the other being oh bleep....how the heck does he get out of this mess?
I just didn’t like Ghost Story - as much as his other books Maybe it was just too different ? I read and enjoyed it. But it wasn’t the same for me. Cold Days !! Epic . Skin Game may have been the best ever !! I’ve pre - ordered peace talks so I f...ing love Jim Butcher !!
I wonder if Jim Butcher just gets tired of taking about the Dresden Files? I have the Codex Alera I haven't had a chance to read them yet but I'm gonna, yet I hear it is vastly different from Dresden. Which I don't have am issue with but I'm wondering if Jim just wants to be like "All right already! I freaking get it everybody loves Dresden! Now can we talk about my other work?" I know his Steampunk series the Cinder Spires is coming out but everyone who interviews him seems to focus mainly on Dresden. When you have another author like Patrick Rothfuss writing a review on Goodreads.com and literally saying that the Dresden Series is his Favorite series of all time that has to be a pretty good feeling. I mean Patrick just raves about the books saying he thinks they're better than some of best high fantasy ever written from Tolkien to Wheel of Time and other very well received fantasy series is just amazing.
I doubt Jim really minds...Dresden is by far his most popular series so it makes sense it is the most talked about. I didn't care for the Codex series personally. I could tell it was based off of a bet :P
Then I don't get why you are watching this. Just to tell us that you don't like it? Finally we get the inner workings of the world behind the world, and get all kinds of forward momentum on figuring how everything has tied in from the start. I loved Uriel. What did you not like?
I loved Ghost Story at first it was very difficult for me to read bc of it being a huge departure from the series and how Harry deals without having his magic readily available. Of course Jim Butcher the clever genius he is figured a way around that hiccup and Harry eventually learns how to use his magic in the veil. Plus it just gets epic by the end. Get to hang out with Bob in the Skull and see what Bob actually looks like. You get to set Butters become a really interesting character. Lots of conflict with the other characters coming to terms with Harry being dead. Jim Butcher IS THE SHIT. Best Series EVER! Including Ghost Story. I recommend you sticking with it all the way thru. I think you may change your mind.
In his next book, Dresden is reduced to ashes in an incinerator, and each individual piece of ash goes on an adventure to put himself back to together again. The part where his particles are itching really brings a tear to your eye. Instead of talking, he spells out messages on a pair of trousers in ash. Also, he molests a small child, but for a REALLY GOOD REASON. It's so exciting to see where he's taking this character.
I really don't understand why people liked this book. He made Death itself irrelevant, and turned it into some Beetlejuice-esque joke. He destroyed the readers ability to sympathize with the lead character... he's leaking protoplasm?! Uh... OK... whatever. Look, if Mr. Butcher is bored with writing Dresden, why didn't he just stop writing about him? I miss DRESDEN. I miss his MORALS he lost Changes. I miss the TENSION of worrying if he would live or die. Ghost story ruined the series .
I love the Dresden Files! I was very surprised that the interviewer was so knowledgeable about the series! Good stuff.
This interviewer is great. Please bring him back to interview Jim for Peace Talks
This interviewer is freaking amazing. Damn good knowledge of the series.
when the Angel whispers to Harry that Maab can't change him it was so empowering at a disparate moment for him I was like "yeah!" I also love how Thomas isn't really totally controlled by his hunger after all. there is hope at the end of it.
Jim is a god among modern authors. Ghost Story is one of the great books of our time and it's a shame that more people, these days, don't read.
This man is my hero, he is on my bucket list to meet!
I just finished Ghost Story and thought it was excellent. For the first time I'm up to date with a book series and now I have to wait!! Oh my God. Jim has an easy writing style which just keeps you engaged and reading all night.
Great interview
I can't wait til the next book comes out!!

Love these books! Just received Peace Talks! Turning off my phone now, so nobody bothers me!
Cold Days was epic. Just read it a few days ago. I loved it. :)
great interview
I love how he looked at the camera around 14:10 when the interviewer called morty a necromancer.
Cold days was freaking awesome
Can't wait for Cold Days.
The people who are saying Ghost Story sucks didn't actually understand the meaning why Jim Butcher wrote it that way. Want him to come to UK, love Dresden.

Just read it. And yes. it was AMAZING.
Imagine how terrified the magical world will be of Harry now.
thanks for upload
good stuff
the book was amazing
At 4:21 the interviewer made a coment that made this interview seem adversarial? Not sure but love Jim Butcher.
The "You cost me about 24 hours of my life." ? That was in no way adversarial. It was a compliment.
Take a look at the new Benedict Jacka series staring Alex Verus in volume one Fated . Verus is the anti Harry Dresden. An excellent read while waiting for Cold Days
I can't wait for Cold Days :)
cannot wait until cold days come out
Hell yea like number 420
He looks so young
I want that shirt.
I loved Ghost Story. But I loved Cold Days even more. I enjoyed the first few books, but I was never really into them until Dead Beat. Thats where it started getting good. Mr. Butcher, I love your T-shirt. Just saying.
I want his shirt
did cold days blow you mind?
We can disagree. But I think we can also both agree that there are worse things than Death. I believe it heightens the tension. WHAT HAPPENED TO BOB?!
So weird to see him without his crazy ling hair now.
I need me some Cold Days!
@MrSquigglesworth Butters has him now.

i liked Sir Stuarts voice, but one the Alpha, Marci's voice was too different than in Side jobs audio.
@Ravincraft69 Haha, owned :) was hoping for tomorrow though... doubt will happen :/
I just didn’t like Ghost Story - as much as his other books
Maybe it was just too different ? I read and enjoyed it. But it wasn’t the same for me. Cold Days !! Epic . Skin Game may have been the best ever !! I’ve pre - ordered peace talks so I f...ing love Jim Butcher !!
I understand he came up with an explanation as to why Dresden can die and come back, but logically? Let's agree to disagree on that.
I wonder if Jim Butcher just gets tired of taking about the Dresden Files? Agreed. I hated GS. It felt so weak and just thrown together. I so hope CD is a lot better.
I am a huge fan of this series, every book has been great, however ghost story to me was not good, I didn't even finish it.
Then I don't get why you are watching this. Just to tell us that you don't like it? Finally we get the inner workings of the world behind the world, and get all kinds of forward momentum on figuring how everything has tied in from the start. I loved Uriel. What did you not like?

Hey to each to their own just because I"m a fan doesn't mean that I need to love all of the books.
its awful to listen to on iphone speaking feature...as an audiobook! just have to read 😁
Oh shit...this interview just spoiled the whole series...
THANK YOU! I just started the second book and was a little nervous watching this. Crisis averted.
Techinically, Dresden didn't really COMPLETELY die. Butcher logically explains why in the book.
I love the Dresden Files. But damn I hated Ghost Story. It’s the red headed step child in the series lol
It's kind of weird to see him with short hair.

Lol ^
