However, they then joined the Axis in November 1940 after a coup. They later switched sides and joined the Allies after another coup as mentioned in the video. I incorrectly made it appear as if they were neutral before joining the Allies. Romania Joined the EU in 2007 not 2004. In 2004 they joined NATO.

Bulgaria's best neighbor - Romania. Dacians and Thracians - are brothers.. In good and bad - there was rarely a border on the Danube - until the Ottoman
Yes, and that has been proven by paleogenetic studies from the University of Hamburg, Germany. Romanians & Bulgarians are genetically closely related, even though the languages are different. But our Daco-Thracian historical & cultural kinship is well attested & should be preserved for our future generations to enjoy. Respect to our kin south of the Danube!
@@ash8207 It all depends on how much you know about history... For starters, one should mention the Getae instead of the Thracians. At times the Getae lived both North and South of the Danube and in most of Moesia... Thracian is an umbrella term that doesn't mean much. As far as we know the term first appears with Herodotus. The Getae were a much larger cultural group than the Thracians who only inhabited the South-Eastern part of what is today Bulgaria.
@@getwulf9293 I agree, the Getae were the traditional inhabitants of the southern part of Dacia (Romania). There is debate whether the Dacians & Getae are the same tribe or just very closely related. Depends which historian you read. Either way, they were united together under Burebista. That's why the term Geto-Daci is used often, to distinguish them but also to point out their close relationship. The Geto-Dacians are referred to as a northern branch of Thracians but I think it's more of a geographic term. There were some cultural similarities but also some major differences between the Geto-Dacians & the Thracians. I remember reading that funerary rites & the languages were different. And it's good you mentioned Moesia. People confuse the Geto-Dacians south of the Danube with the traditional Thracians, which has led to some incorrect theories like that of Roesler. Despite the paleogenetic evidence that clearly shows the large genetic kinship of Romanians to neolithic civilizations living in pre-historic Dacia, some folks still absurdly insist that Romanians are just remnants of the "latinized Balkan or Thracian tribes that immigrated north of the Danube. It's sad that even science can't persuade some people to open their eyes to the truth.
The relatinization of the Romanian language (also known as re-Romanization)[1] was the strengthening of the Romance features of the Romanian language in the 18th and 19th centuries. During this period, Romanian adopted a Latin alphabet to replace the Cyrillic script and borrowed many words from French, as well as Latin and Italian, to acquire the lexical tools needed for modernization.[2][1] This process created words for newly introduced objects or concepts (neologisms), added Latin synonyms for some Slavic and other loanwords, and strengthened some Romance syntactic features. Some linguists point out that the use of this term is inappropriate because it confuses the larger process of language modernization with the more extreme, and ultimately unsuccessful, trend of eliminating non-Latin influences, and secondly, the term's lack of precision is likely to lead to confusion, because the Latin character of the Romanian language has already been observed since the 15th century.[3][4][5]
@Dan D How they managed to keep the Dacian blood & cultural heritage alive is also pretty impressive. And that "Latin" language has Proto-Indo-European roots as well as a Daco-Thracian substratum & a significant Slavic influence.

@@ulanten892 @dogologong6428 That is not true. If you wish to know what actually happened, feel free: • Although it is true that Bulgarians are not directly Thracian, the Thracian peoples were integrated into the post-Roman migrants, major of which were Slavs. The result being what is now called "7 Slavic tribes". The semi-nomadic turkic steppe tribe, known in English as the "Bulgars" arrived below the Danube in the 7th Century. United under common enemy (Byzantines, but also Avars, etc), the 7 slavic tribes and Asparuh's Bulgars agreed to co-operate. Bulgars would be allowed to settle below the Balkans, but in return must defend the Slavs and take their language. This union would officially be recognised by the Byzantines in 681AD, now recognised as the founding date of modern Bulgaria. Although there were other peoples involved, and Thrace connects to Bulgaria indirectly, the Thracians, Bulgars and Slavs are seen as the three major haplogroups/peoples and ancestor-routes of today Bulgarians. • Ask most Romanians, and they'd te you that they are "Latinised Dacians". That is true to the extent that it is slightly more complicated than that. Although there were early settlers in modern Romanian, the first prominent people groups are the Paleo-Balkanic people groups: the Daco-Thracians - they'd diverge into several, with the Thracians migrating to below the Danube, leaving the Dacians in today's Romania. The Romans would soon come to invade the Dacian territories - here I have had a Historical argument, before: one person had the interpretation that the Dacians 'ceased from existence', as in died out by the time of the Romans - this is possibly what you believe. However this is only a belief in proxy, and the interpretation is that the Dacians were subdued, or as the Romanians I have spoken to say: "Latinised". What that refers to is the period of mass Latinisation: the Dacians and other local peoples had no choice but to speak Latin, change to Latin names, etc. The result of this period of Latinisation was the Vlachs from above the Danube. These Vlachs would be unified under a single state, up until invasions from the Mongols, among other tribes (Magyars and Avars too iirc, although don't quote me). The state was devastated and a power vacuum was created. The final outcome was the division into three states: Wallachia, Moldavia and Transilvania. After defence against Ottomans (period under Vlad Țepeş Dracula "the Impaler"), the eventual unification at different points of the states would eventually result in Romania, and at the period of Communism, Moldova as well. • You believe the Albanians arises from Paleo-Balkanic origin, so I'm not going to go into too much detail. Which is convenient, as little is known about the origin of Albanians ig (not just me). The current most popular historical belief is that Albanians are of Paleo-Balkanic origin. Albanians like to say that they descend from the Illyrians (a catch-all term for peoples living above Greece in Eastern Balkans; origin of which is also disputed, but most are certain that Illyrians are also Paleo-Balkanic in origin), however the topic is still hot and occasionally argued upon in the Historian's community. The important thing is, Illyrian or not, the current major theory is that Albanians are Paleo-Balkanic in origin. Please try not to argue with me. If you have a different anecdote, share in detail, don't just share anargued points just because of idiosyncrasy. At least Poland and Hungary are Central Europe, not Eastern Europe. But culturally, whether they like it or not, while not as close culturally to the Balkans as Romanians - who are clearly Eastern European, together with Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, the Baltic states and the European portion of Russia - they still have more in common with the Balkan nations, culturally, than they have with Western Europe. Why am I mentioning this: if you like Romania, Poland and Hungary, you'd probably like Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Greece and Macedonia too. @Janos Musatic Not only they have Hungarian names, many speak Hungarian very well, a remnant of the old 19th early 20th century Hungarian move of assimilating the gypsies. The biggest concentration of gypsies in Romania ironically is not in the South (Wallachia), but right in the middle of the country, particularly the Mures county. The gypsies from Wallachia and Moldova usually have their own tweaked names, not names you usually hear from Romanians and they still maintained their old language, further proof that Romanians never really tried to assimilate them. The few gypsies that assimilated into the Romanian society were the ones that wanted to be assimilated (i.e. Fierarii, Ursarii). The vast majority did not and today, as it has always been, they still live segregated from the Romanian community. You talked about thieves especially in the context of Romania, forgetting that Romanian and Hungary, and pretty much all countries in the region aren't really that far apart when it comes to thievery and related crimes.

However just because human admits to it, doesn't make him a bad person. Many people cling to bad and evil ideologies, because they are part of a group that adhers to the ideology they subscribe to. Many people are also ignorant to the ideologies they are followers of. That is also bad thing, because being ignorant, lets those ideologies to spread more easily.

Every region/tribe/country in the world had previously invaded neighbors to expand their land because of their growing numbers and excess or lack of resources. It has happened since the early beginnings until this day. It happens in the animal reign too. It's just a natural occurrence due to resources and our dependence on them.

Paul Mogos, if Transylvania is more Romanian, then what is the Romanian name for Transylvania? Erdel is not becomes this is the Hungarian name used by the Romanian. Transylvania is not because Transylvania means on Hungarian “land beyond the forest line” looking at Transylvania from the Hungarian plain. Each time when someone says Transylvania that person represents the Hungarian point of view of the area in question. So then I ask you once again what is the “ancient” Romanian name for Transylvania?

Romania began WW2 neutral seeding territory to stay out of the war as mentioned in the video.
I was confused when you said their neutrality and Allies since Romania help out the Axis in Stalingrad and Black Sea campaign.

Respect to Bulgaria from Romania! All the best!
Let's all take a moment and remember the Vlacho-Bulgar Empire (Or the Second Bulgarian Empire as you guys call it :p)

It all depends on how much you know about history...

Romania/Founded 1859 In 1859 the principalities of Walachia and Moldavia were united, and in 1877 they proclaimed their independence from the Ottoman Empire as the modern Romania. So how came Romania is a country with a tow thousand year history. If was Funded in 1859?
19th century Modern-day Romania, like many other European nations, are searching for a national hero in the wake of their independence.
Modern-day Romania lists Adam and Eva, Burebistas, Decebalus, and Trajan as the founding fathers of the country:
Meanwhile, in 632 the Bulgars formed an independent state north of the Black sea that became known as Great Bulgaria under the leadership of Kubrat.
Wallachia was founded as a principality in the early 14th century by Basarab I, after a rebellion against Charles I of Hungary, although the first mention of the territory of Wallachia west of the river Olt dates to a charter given to the voivode Seneslau in 1246 by Béla IV of Hungary. I am open minded indeed. But I also have my opinions. I think there are to facets to humans - the individual human, and their ideology.
There are bad ideologies in the world.
You may disagree with me, but to me following ideologies belong to the "Bad" group :
Communism, Liberalism(in all it's forms), Islam(Because of idea of Jihad - the original "holy war"), Ideological Atheism(it means, all atheist ideologies that support the spread of atheism, as opposed to individual atheism), Skepticism and Sophisticism(moral relativism), and Hinduism(because it supports caste system, otherwise I would deem it pretty harmless), Satanism, Scientology, and some sects, like Jehovah witnesses etc.
This is just exemplar group of the most damaging ideologies in my opinion. But I treat every communist, liberal, mason and muslim like a human, and not as a member of the ideology. Even if I think those are bad ideologies, the people who follow them are still humans and deserve respect.
Thus, if they wish to dispute my claim about their ideologies being bad, they're free to do so, but I won't pester them about it. After all, we are all entitled to our own dumb opinions, and I don't discount the possibility that I might be wrong.

Romania seems to have two strong qualities a unified culture (despite it's distinct regions) and patience.
hell yeah
A lot of patience. To much I'd say.
Yseson : This is because, those regions are inhabitated by Romanians for thousands of years !!! Even 2000 km away, Romanians still understand each other, with very little regional differences, such as those large Romanian communities left out of the borders of today Romania !!! We all still speaking, up to these days, the old language of our ancestors, keping the same spirituality and traditions despite the numerous invasions and territorial ruptures suffered at the hands of various past and present neighbouring empires and countries along the history.
HISTORY ALWAYS repeats itself. Considering the current Romanian struggles these days, I would say it is a matter of time until we will be back on our feet, off our knees again as a Great nation.

Every region/tribe/country in the world had previously invaded neighbors to expand their land because of their growing numbers and excess or lack of resources. Era varul lui Vlad Tepeș. Era un gunoi sa stii. Cand Vlad Tepes a atacat turcii in atacul de noapte de la braila Stefan a atacat castelul lui Vlad ca un gunoi ce a fost.
