- Jai Opetaia currently holds the IBF cruiserweight world championship after defeating Mairis Briedis in a 12 round war. Due to suffering a severe jaw injury, Opetaia has currently been inactive as he awaits his return to the ring on the 30th September against Jordan Thompson. Jai Opetaia is ranked No.1 in the division and considered the best in the weight class.

Jai is not my issue here, signing with that UK promoter is.
The point is.. as opposed to the UK, the U.S has a history of producing champions in almost every weight class for the better part of 40 years.
So if Jai wants to further develop his craft and technical abilities, then do it in the U.S and sign with a U.S promoter and a trainer, with a known history of regularly producing champs - there are plenty of them.
The UK trainers simply don't have that in their repertoire. I find them mediocre at best. 'This' is my issue.

He's good, but to me his fight with Breidis just put into perspective how underrated and great Breidis is. At 38 (or something), Breidis gave this hungry lion hell, broke his jaw, and left him out the ring for ages. Honestly surprised that there's been no talk of a rematch. Was a very close fight.
I believe IBF ordered a rematch but Briedis is out with injury. Once he’s healthy, Briedis will fight the winner of Opetaia vs Thompson. That’s what I’ve read online but nothing confirmed.

Rozicki's fights are pretty exciting whenever he keeps coming forward even after bleeding quite a lot and banging on his chest. Jai's style is also explosive and it's a great watch whenever he fights!
