That's why I found his claim so hard to believe
Anytime a cop goes into some long speech, you can almost guarantee that he's not going to give you a ticket if you just shut up and listen to him, even if what he's saying is complete BS. If he was going to give you a ticket, he'd just collect your ID and give you a ticket rather than give you some long speech.
It's about time cops get after this nonsense. I'm an avid bicyclist, and these groups of riders that block traffic, piss me off, and are the reason all of us other cyclist put up with the ire of motorist.
I thought you were talking about the cop. What's he going on about and is ticketing for shutting people up legal? He clearly didn't even know the truth.
I’m an avid cyclist; also drive a large service vehicle 6-8 hrs a day 5 days a week. There’s no denying some in the cycling community are ridiculous, childish, snobby and douchey that’s an established fact. I’ve tried the group rides and was too embarrassed to continue with them not to mention being ostracized as an “unworthy” member because the sticker price on my bike was under 8K. I ride because I enjoy it and it’s a viable way to maintain my fitness goals especially after sitting in the drivers seat all day. I also do my best to make myself visible with DRL’s, high vis gear and follow local traffic laws. Thing is, nobody is perfect, armchair authorities included. On a quiet residential street when nobody is around I’ll often only slow down to look for traffic or people crossing the street. My vantage point is a lot better than from inside a vehicle. I can clearly see the all angles of an intersection. if nobody is around yeah, I’ll save some starting effort in coming to a complete stop and roll through. I also have a CCTV system at home which captures my driveway including a nearby one way stop. Does every person driving a vehicle come to a complete legal stop? Not even close. Hardly ever. I’ve got the video to prove it. It’s easy to point the finger at cyclists but the gripe seems more like a knee jerk road rage type emotional thing to me. Most vehicles weigh in around 3500Lbs + a road bike 25-30lbs? Who wins in a collision? When driving I’d rather see a cyclist quickly clear the intersection in front of me, get established and up to speed on the side of the road or in a bike lane so I can carry on and safely pass.
wow really..?? "sticker price on my bike was under 8K" ???? .... shaming u for this is PATHETIC! what happened to good old days where riders come together just to ride no matter who rides and what bike he is riding???

In my experience, I find that the more expensive the bike is and the more decked out the cyclist is clothes wise, he's a bigger snob and doesn't follow the traffic law as he should. I am a cyclist myself and always try not to give cyclists a worse image than we already have. I admit, I don't always come to a full stop at a stop sign but I brake and slow down considerably. Cyclists will always have a bad image and name. I do my best to change that by following the traffic laws and thanking drivers who let me go first.
James Cain speed limit means speed limit. Yet no one driving seems to respect that even though the roads would be safer. But if a cyclist treats a stop as yield it’s the end of the world even though it’s been proven safer for cyclists to treat stops as yields. .
Agreed. I no longer ride with clubs or groups because of this. Funny comment about being decked out. I’ll never forget the time a guy showed up for a group ride wearing a time trial helmet. Bizarre.
Honestly stop signs should be treated as yield signs for bicyclists as stopping completely sucks as you loose all of your momentum, you should only be required to slow down and make sure everything is clear, and bikes aren't going to kill anyone anyways as they don't have a lot of mass.
I second that. Not a big fan of cyclist on general. One time I came to a 4 way stop prior to pack of cyclists. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM didn't yield the right of way to me and went through stop sign out of turn without complete stops.

Yes we are supposed to stop at the stop signs but honestly we only do it if there are cars. We aren't all a bunch of A-holes. We never ride more than two wide. On narrower and one lane roads we ride single file and stay as far right as safely possible. We have had no issues with pissing people off or slowing anyone down. We did all stop at a stop sign once and a cop yelled at us because he wanted us all to move up to the line and stop individually and it was really GD annoying. There were no cars, just him going a different direction. We all did stop but obviously some were further back and when it was safe we went as a unit but anyone more than a foot from the stop sign the cop yelled at. I could have been ticketed because i was around the middle and when he started yelling i just rode past and said sorry. I didn't want to risk mashing brakes and causing a crash at that point. 420 Friendly I live in New Zealand. That’s absurd that a cyclist can take up a whole road lane legally - I can see why motorists would get upset in these cases (no excuse to hit cyclists though). I agree that two abreast can force safer over taking in some cases but still don’t think it’s right. The road is for motor vehicles first and foremost. Not exactly. Some states have stop-as-yield laws for cyclists. So this means if you're on a bicycle in such a state, you don't have to treat it as a stop sign.
theres a bigger issue here. more often than not stopping is less safe as a cyclist. this is highly dependent on the visibility of the intersection, but in certain circumstances if you stop you are putting yourself in harms way longer
It's the law in Idaho that cyclists can treat stop signs as yields and red lights as stops (ca proceed if it's clear). Proven to decrease crashes at stop intersections. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idaho_stop

I was pulling up to an intersection on a back country road in Texas, and a large group of cyclists was approaching from my right, turning left at the intersection and passing me going the way from which I had just come. Since they were obviously cutting the corner and using the whole intersection, I stopped about 20 ft back from the stop sign and put it in park, well on the right side of the road, and out of their way, figuring I’d be there a little while. Most of the group continued zipping around the corner just fine and as I chilled watching to my right for the last rider, one idiot, for no apparent reason decided he needed to pound on the left front part of my hood with his fist. Surprised me. Angered me. Made me lose any shred of respect for cyclers. I get the appeal of traveling from point a to b via bicycle. I get training for competitions. If we had more bike lanes I’d do it myself, but you need to self-police and stop the bad apples in your group that give you all a bad name. I could have easily decided to use the entire intersection to turn around and chase the idiot down, and a bicycle vs a pickup truck will lose every time. Blowing thru stop signs, failing to give right away, attacking cars for being cars, then you wonder why motorists dislike you.🙄
Mopeds, tractors, old trucks and just about every slow moving traffic I catch up with on my motorcycle or car has pulled over and stopped to let the long tail of traffic behind them pass. A group of cyclists taking up the whole road on the other hand? Not even once.
I have followed slow trucks, buses, school buses, and various other things. The only difference is that if you hit a bus or tractor you will damage your vehicle unlike a bicyclist. How would you pass a bicycle if it had what a tractor sometimes is towing?

There is a difference between rolling through a stop sign and rolling through a stop light. In Idaho the law for cyclists are treat stop signs like yield signs and stop lights as stop signs. I know that is not the case in every state - so it is important to know the rules of the road for the state in which you are riding. Cop was on a power trip for sure - and has something against cyclists. What a crazy experience.
I am not saying it’s ok to blow the stop signs but what if this guy didn’t actually blow it and he was trying to defend himself he shouldn’t have to be afraid to accuse a cop of falsely accusing him but the cop then got a little bit to hostile and it felt like he was just giving a ticket because he was annoyed
I'm an avid cyclist in Alabama and one of the very few that actually obey the laws and care about others on the road. I respect the traffic and the roads. That doesn't give you a definite free pass though. A lot of times you can be completely courteous and kind and some people will still hate you just for being there. They are mad at you simply because you're on a bicycle on some back country road in the middle of nowhere. Imagine being that stupid.
It usually happens like this: A group of cyclists stops at at stop sign, and proceeds through *as a group* instead of each making a full stop at the sign, as required by the law. Motorists complain that the cyclists aren't observing the law, namely the stop sign. Then, the group makes a general announcement to strictly observe the stop sign and proceed one at a time. The result is that the compact blob of cyclists is now strung out over half a mile and becomes impossible for a motorist to pass safely. This results in even MORE motorist frustration. There needs to be more common sense differentiation in traffic laws and infrastructure between cars and bikes. Treating them the same doesn't seem to be working out.
Very good point but a lot of the people Commenting here hate bikes and probably buzz cyclists whil speeding/texting all the same time saying they "obey" the law. If a cyclist runs a stop sign or light it will just get himself killed. If a car or truck does it is different story

After years of experience in biking, I have a mountain bike and an indoor stationary bike. I don't know GTA but I hope they have a group of road cyclists in the game and picking their spandex covered asses off one by one is bonus points.
I’m an avid cyclist. I always obey the rules of the road. Period. I even use the proper hand signals. It’s dingbats like Mr. Mouthpiece that give us a bad reputation. As a rider, there are three things that really chap my hide: 1. cyclists (groups or solos) that think laws don’t apply to them, 2. cyclists that don’t wave back because they’re snobs - you can tell the difference between the snobs and those that just didn’t see my wave or are having to focus because of road conditions, and 3. when I run out of chamois cream.
Depends on the municipality. Some cities permit Cyclists to roll stop signs as long as they’re cautious. I assume this city is not one of them. FTR, I always stop at traffic lights. I always stop at stop signs if it’s a busy street. Leaders on group rides will usually clear an intersection and waive the group through. I don’t know what happened here or why the cop is so upset. But I am digging that guy’s Madone SSL. A real classic.
I see this all the time! I won't ride with my neighbor's group of cyclist because they act just like that and they are proud of it! Wish he have given them all tickets.
One of the unfortunate things is that, for many motorists, it is the mere presence of cyclists that frustrates them and it is their complaints that get the sherrif out. In my state, each cyclist in the group must proceed one-at-a-time, after a full stop; that is the same as a motorized vehicle. However, the affects of the aftermath on the traffic is magnitudes higher, as the cars/motorcycles have to execute a safe pass for a group that is strung out, instead of compact. It doesn't affect many of my rides. I ride in rural areas, in small groups, but I see it in suburban settings.
Unlike solo bicyclists who can be easily intimidated by cars/drivers large groups demand more respect. That's one reason some people only ride in large groups so that you have strength in numbers. How many drivers a year are killed by bicycles?

Anonymous stop means stop. Dribbling about cycling then saying you slow down but don’t stop means your just as bad as the rest of them.
Not at all.. james
James Cain speed limit means speed limit. Yet no one driving seems to respect that even though the roads would be safer. But if a cyclist treats a stop as yield it’s the end of the world even though it’s been proven safer for cyclists to treat stops as yields. .

My cycling group stops at all red lights. We will go through stop signs "IF" there are no cars that we could impede.
But all he said is "ok but you have to obey the laws like everybody else"
We haven't had any other issues and 99% of the time when drivers see us they just wave us by... Not rage out on us.

Every god damn morning at 6 o'clock in the morning in heavy morning traffic they just ran through all the reds and stops zig-zagging through cars to get to their office quicker. Of course police were aware of it and since they always took the same route one morning they waited for them in unmarked cars. Every single one of these 20-25 fuckers received a red light ticket and points on their license. 4 bloody cops writing tickets for a solid 45 minutes. I have been a avid cyclist for 39 yrs including my bmx racing starting at 8 yrs old. I live in park city Utah, and I have to say, cyclist that think they own the road and have an attitude about it hurt us all. I cant tell you how stupid it is to ride two or three abreast or run stop signs or anything else that jacks up the flow of traffic. sure it is our right to take the full lane and say f-off to the cars, but imagine you as the driver of the car and watching a group of cyclists ride 18 mph when the speed limit is 35, and there is 8 cars waiting to get by, and the cyclists are all side saddle ready to flip the bird. the cars want to kill you and then they hate cyclists, and the situation gets worse. share the road goes both ways. you should have all got tickets, but I'm glad the big mouth liar got one at least. seriously bart, as professional as you come across, you should never condone crap like this, and should do a video about improving car and bike interaction, respecting the road and all that travel it, and staying safe by not abusing your privilege to ride on roads in traffic. most cyclists I know that were injured training on road bikes are due to car- bike collisions or being run off the road, and some admittedly tried to battle a car, or just were not courteous and sharing the road. in bike vs car, the cyclist always looses, even when they think their right.
+pctimber I am definitely not condoning it I never said it was okay to do. In fact, where I live in Idaho, a stop sign is only a yield and I didn't know a bike was treated as a vehicle in California so beforehand didn't even know it was illegal to do
hey bart, maybe your not condoning it, but posting this without language describing its dangerous, nobody should do it, follow the rules of the road cause they apply to cyclists, respect cars, and if you don't you could get a ticket, or be killed, etc. is irresponsible because most people watch it and say," oh, another douche bag cop harassing cyclists." there is too much to lose not to promote safe road riding. luv your channel , look forward to future discussions

single file is worse for traffic. two abreast is the best policy and is safer.
Gregg Germer in majority of cases single file allows the traffic to overtake; two abreast makes overtaking much more difficult and traffic has to slow down to the cyclists speed and wait for an opportunity to overtake. Are u saying two abreast is good because it compresses the length of the group? Or that it forces the cars not to overtake? Regardless, I disagree
Yea honestly, give respect, get respect back
420 Friendly I live in New Zealand.
I don’t see any cars / motor bikes being allowed on cycle ways/lanes.
More defined rules with harsher fines / punishment for wrong-doers on both sides could help to make a safer shared space.

Blowing thru stop signs, failing to give right away, attacking cars for being cars, then you wonder why motorists dislike you.🙄
Can't even shut up when the other riders are telling him to shut up.
They should have all encircled him and started playing medicine ball.
That cops is AWESOME!!!!! Cyclist are out of control!!!
This is why I record EVERYTHING when I ride, It's a B*tch when editing but in a situation where I am in the right and need proof I am all set. Just think of it as a dash cam that you can use for all kinds of occasions and not just rides.
I always recommend it
You want to tell me that the whole group ran the stop sign, which the cop SAW, but one guy actually stopped here?
@@Etherion195 the one guy claimed he wasn't part of the group and was cycling by himself when the group caught up to him. whether that is true or a lie is not known
@@Flamboyant8 ok, good to know.
its extra weight tho
@@smolcocky6466 Hey if your bods not strong enough to carry a little extra weight that's not my fault mate. In the end yes it is extra weight, but if you wear it all the time you don't even notice it anymore (becomes normal like wearing a helmet).
As a fellow cyclists , I agree with the cop that we are annoying
Outstanding......
1) Nice Madone!
2) It's California.
3) Stop at stop signs!
4) There's one in every group!
5) I think I might route my group ride around this town in the future.
Id rather walk than ride a Madone
@@PInk77W1 for the amount of money for one of those trek bikes id rather have a motorcycle... way over priced
Dayesleeper my bikes cost way more.
But I’ve ridden across the USA 4 times
China once
Australia once
India 2 times
Motorcycles are nice
But super dangerous and way expensive.
I like bicycles because I have to supply the power.
@@PInk77W1 thats pretty awesome. Huge feat doing that all. After moving from sonoma county and dealing with the packs of riders who block the whole road, ill stick with running. Those who ride there left a bad image.
Dayesleeper Sonoma is the worst. I came from Santa Cruz and now live in Tx.
My town has one other cyclist. The town doctor. LoL.
I don’t get along with cyclist. They are the snobbiest. One time I rode up the biggest mountain in the Tour de France with 5000 cyclists. At the top I noticed a group of guys with the kind of bike I was riding.
MOOTS. So I cruised over to chat with them.
They all gave me the stink stare. Finally one said
“Hey man, what’s up with your bike, why don’t u clean it?”
I said
“I just pedaled 600 miles from London that’s why.”
Total silence, so I left. LoL.
I could tell u many more stories just like that.
100% support the officer, we need more of this pro active policing in the U.K.. These cyclists have no liability insurance, no registration and conduct themselves in a self entitled manner and think they can behave anyway they want. Same as illegal electric scooters
Tim..Most Cyclists think their entitled To jump lights and crossings...That Officer is amazing..
Wow love that ending. Friends saying Hey man listen. Hey just shut up. Lol ticket
Well done officer
StudioMarand Official That officer is an asshole. Period. Oh, he must be in his period and he is just flowing from his vigina.
@@thumper73 Hes the type that teaches guys like you a lesson. How the hell was he an asshole, by giving a ticket to someone who ran a red and wouldn't stop back talking?
I like this Cop. I always wondered aren't bikes like that suppose to follow the laws.
YES
im a cyclist and i approve of this
so glad to see this happening. i'm really sick of cyclist hogging the road in large groups here in louisiana.
Cyclists are such complete hipster assholes in Louisiana.
I am not saying it’s ok to blow the stop signs but what if this guy didn’t actually blow it and he was trying to defend himself he shouldn’t have to be afraid to accuse a cop of falsely accusing him but the cop then got a little bit to hostile and it felt like he was just giving a ticket because he was annoyed
caught in the camera
😂its always that one guy that digs the hole even deeper maybe the cop was just going to give them a speech now everyone bout to get a ticket lol(didnt happen but could of)
As a cyclist that cop was spot on.
Nice to see a cop holding these people accountable!
u mean harassing bicycle riders for SAVING the planet?
Just let him lecture and move on, now he gets a ticket for being a rebellious rebel

My hero...wish we would have more officers like him in my city. Well done sir!!
The guy with the big mouth has no disc brakes lawl.
Beautifully done officer 👮 👍😊
as an avid cyclist and daily commuter this is excellent. The cop may have actually saved someones life - well played.
That moment when they probably ran the stop sign at the same speed cars roll through them.
40kmh isn’t rolling speed
Transport 18 wheeler taking out 5-7 of them they might start following the rules of the road then...
And cops pull ppl over for California stops too, but my guess is this group probably ran the stop sign. Probably not much yielding involved.
These guys start peddling there bikes and think they become super heroes.Always a problem were i live.
I’m an avid cyclist. I always obey the rules of the road. Period. I even use the proper hand signals. It’s dingbats like Mr. Mouthpiece that give us a bad reputation. As a rider, there are three things that really chap my hide: 1. cyclists (groups or solos) that think laws don’t apply to them, 2. cyclists that don’t wave back because they’re snobs - you can tell the difference between the snobs and those that just didn’t see my wave or are having to focus because of road conditions, and 3. when I run out of chamois cream.
good thing rolling through stop signs is legal in my city.
We all have to be responsible and respectful of the rules of the road. And to be nice to people.
I love this cop
So do I!!!
What for?....
I love how the one guy running his mouth trying act like the angel gets the ticket! 🤣
This officer should get an award
The Police State funded Terrorist should be sent to a Rehab center because Cops and Prisons need to be abolished.
*Curb your enthusiasm theme plays*
Even the annoying cyclists are annoyed by the cyclist who won’t shut up.
Bikers riding in packs generally do not share the road and are rude when called out.
Unlike solo bicyclists who can be easily intimidated by cars/drivers large groups demand more respect. That's one reason some people only ride in large groups so that you have strength in numbers. How many drivers a year are killed by bicycles?
