Yes but to at what end?? From what I've seen Bruce Lee was the only true master of jkd and no one has come close to his speed and agility why is that??? He was only human like anyone else
For example, if he strikes with a straight jab or cross, you can either intercept before his attack reaches you or stop it with your own block. If he stops your counter strike with his own block, then your punch never retreats back to position to reload, instead it continues by immobilizing his blocking hand and hitting the target. In JKD, we intercept whatever is in front of us by breaking down that gate. Breaking down the gate can either be done by a single direct attack (SDA), a Hand Immobilization Attack (HIA), Trapping Hand

first off this is a great video hands down..I love that you have gone in depth to show I variety of ways that the fight could progress in the trapping range..fantastic!!! I will point out one thing that I think you may have wrong. again let me stress " maybe" you mentioned briefly that this is jkd bread and butter, then said that if your not doing this , then your not doing jkd. please if you would explain a bit further on this point. with that being said I would like to point out that jkd philosophy clearly states that this is a simple, direct , effective and non traditional way of living. further more its tailor made...just like a nice suit ...one does not fit all...its unique to every person. this quality is a Harmony that lays in balance between the form and the formless . it is about relationship between human to human...fighting one person the path may be one way, to fight another , that path may not be as effective as another...no different than how we relate to different people from all walks of life in our everyday lives. but I'm not bringing this up too put down your video, in fact I love the work that you have done. I truly just want with all of my heart for you to understand and accept that the was only one Bruce Lee...he showed us how to truly express ourselves. my next question for you is this, are you honestly and completely expressing yourself? after you have thought about that ask yourself , am I being honest or am I lying to myself? am I expressing my interpretation of Bruce and living under his shadow? nothing in jkd is set...only what is effective and personally and quite quite essentially your own. sincerely charlie ray of Newark Ohio ... forever a student.

It seems that most of these stem from combinations consisting of a pak da or lap da upon contact; those would be really good to practice so that it happens reflexively when you touch.

Size and weight CAN be important factors in a fight. But speed, powers of observation, skill/technique, and experience are others and that's what JKD emphasizes....
Excellent. But I think that in later years Bruce had evolved from this because his punches were so fast that they could not be trapped or blocked.so at that point a punch was just a punch but with blinding speed and simplicity.
GATES (MOON). I refer to gates as doors or openings of opportunity for intercepting. As the opponent strikes, we intercept at either the opening or retracting of the attack. You have an opportunity to break down the gate if an opponent stops you from intercepting by blocking or placing a gate in front of your attack. You do so with your own block or strike. In JKD, we intercept whatever is in front of us by breaking down that gate. Breaking down the gate can either be done by a single direct attack (SDA), a Hand Immobilization Attack (HIA), Trapping Hand (FON SOW), (ABC) Attack By Combination, (PIA) Progressively Indirect, (ABD) Attack By Drawing, and taking away the attacker’s entire weapon by closing in on the attacker. The five ways of attack are a massive force that will take down anything standing in its way, no matter how plugged or protected the blocker is. You should be able to take down any barrier that goes in front of you. Remember, for every attack there is a counter (BAK GUY BAK GEE). I will demonstrate 27 GATES in this book. Why 27 gates? The specific number chosen is relative to Bruce Lee’s birthday, and is purely in recognition of this date. These gates are not to be taken lightly. They are the backbone of JKD training. If you master these gates, you will have an unlimited amount of blocking and striking, therefore it is not necessary for you to only use these twenty- seven techniques. You have unlimited techniques. By unlimited I mean you can switch them around, generate from them, add kicks, and take downs, whatever works at the time. This way you are not limited to these techniques alone, but when it really comes down to it, you only need to do one in real life situations. That is why you must become these techniques, so when you need them they are there because in real situations you not going to say, “If he comes this way, I will block him this way. Then I will trap this way.” Well, let me assure you that it will not work. No matter how the attack has been brought on you, you should respond to it very naturally. We start from Woo or touching hand position. That is Not how a fight starts in most situations. What it’s teaching you is that both practitioners can be in a block position. For instance, if he punched then I blocked, I punch then he blocks instead, that’s why we start in block position. Therefore, both partners get a lot of repetition and you are already one step ahead. In addition, 95% of people strike with the right hand, so these gates are not designed to fight against another JKD student; their purpose is to block an orthodox fighter. Because when they strike with a telegraphic punch or cross hook or what ever they use, they end up right foot forward. So why not take advantage of their attack by counter attacking with JKD, and trapping their hands to use the front lead to the fullest? Footwork, pivoting, and hip rotation are used heavily to achieve full results. THE GATES should be practiced right lead unless you’re lefty. Then you will realize why we depend on the front lead so heavily because if you strike from the rear you are not going to be able to strike with power. You will end up trapping yourself because you will be going against the Yin and Yang structure and you are going to shorten yourself. When you put your right hand forward, you’re already halfway there with much more power and speed, which is very unlikely to be blocked even with a first strike. LEAK: leak attack is normally executed by the opponent against a very well plugged defense lines. Normally the leak attack is executed between the lower and the upper defense lines; no matter how well your gates are closed, a good JKD practitioner will always find a way to land an attack. Speed; snap hip and footwork are heavily required. Your rear heel must remain up because you are lunging forward before each strike. After practicing these gates, your JKD punch will be “felt before it is seen”. Note: every Pock Sow (slapping hand) will become Gum Sow (pressing hand) but with speed they both become one so don’t get confused which one you should do. It always starts with Pock Sow and finishes with gum sow.
I have over 20 years in Jun Fan Gung Fu & JKD, (along with Wing Chun & other arts like GJJ) and I haven’t seen anything wrong with the techniques he’s teaching. I was confused at first by Sifu George’s use of the term “Gates” (which I believe he is getting from Randy Williams, who I think has kind of over-complicated a very simple system in regards to his organization & classification) whereas I would classify these, and how they are classified in Sifu Inosanto’s 1966 notes as a progression and later as “Series”, such as the “Loy Pak Da Series”, etc. The only reference I to “Gates” I have seen officially in the Jun Fan & JKD method is the Wing Chun 4-Corner Gate Drill and the 5 Gate (Ng Moon) Series. And generally the connection or “Bridge” points were generally: 1. Outside to Outside 2. Inside to Outside 3. Inside to Inside with those being able to be done from a high reference point or low reference point.
The gates that are taught in JKD/WC are defensive Gates .. MY GATE( my own) are ENTRIES doors of opportunity that I can enter no matter how PLUGED or good your defensive movements are .. I WILL ENTER ..
Ok. No offense, but then itś a trapping series of 27 movements, a trapping progressión win 27 steps based on sensitivity, not are gates and entries. Iḿ telling you very respecfully. I even have your JKD book (the most complete i ever read) and i think is excellent. Who was you sifu in JKD? The Book just mention seminars and people who help you with your JKD, but no who trainned you and certified you as instructor.
+Marcos Rey hello first thank you for your support .. My goal was never to earn a peace of paper or train only with one Sifu. I searched 13 of Bruce Lee's students and than I decided to return back to the original freedom ( Myself) what does work for George? and that's what you see.. I don't want you to mistake not having a peace of paper for knowledge training , practicing and research and that's what should matter.. After 42 years of researching and still searching JKD I feel I earned SELF KNOWLEDGE ..
I enjoyed watching this video. I was wondering if you have a video about functionalizing your trapping skills. I have been studying JKD and Kali and love the empty hand aspects of both arts but, do not have a good feel for functionalizing the traps and the understanding of sectoring and forward pressure.
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. I wish the naysayers would at least back up their claims rather than say things like "If you read Bruce's books..." If people out there think something doesn't work show us so we all can learn. "Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless and add what is specifically your own. What works for me is not necessarily going to work for everyone. But I can guarantee you won't learn this stuff by reading a book or two.
I remember you coming to a seminar a couple of years ago in Poughkeepsie NY with some of your students; obvious from then and this video that the lack of certification or an instructor hasn't hurt your ability to teach or execute. Excellent video. BTW, where do you teach at? Couldn't remember if you were in NY
Bruce Lee's jkd is of the intercepting fist. How to instinctively block an attack and counter it swiftly. Also jkd is supposed to get rid of unnecessary forms. I feel you guys have my your own jkd and don't teach the version that lee created.
In my book I show the gates. You can see how the techniques are executed .If there is something you really need to know I will make a small clip and upload to you ..
Sifu George Hajnasr Thanks for replying...since I never took this style & too me if i saw it slow motion, I think I could practice with someone so we could practice it better in my book! Thanks you sir!
Why don't you explain to us what the 4 gates are without looking it up? Thank you for the lesson on the straight lead ! I hope that is the answer to all your problems ..
there are 2 central lines; horizontal / vertical. like a coordinate system in math. they called gates, because these are the points of motion. points where energy origins and start flowing. it has nothing to do with the actual goal (hit landing). it has a lot to do with the ying-yang philosophy; the basis of wing chun. strenght vs speed - focus vs awareness - "shield and sword" - bong sao vs tan sao.. (left and right energy flow) and so on. nice video- I would have used the word engages instead of gates.
The Icarus Yes in wing chun are 4 gates, but JKD has five gates, the central point where the 4 gates thouch together is considered the number five gate (ng moon in cantonese), thats a Bruce Lee concept. Iḿ watching this video over an over and i still, I don't understand why this guy says that he find 27 gates. ????? He really understand what a gate is????
His speed again gave me a proof that " Practice makes a man perfect " .

Sir It was very very helpful, thanks a lot Sir. Looking forward for more videos.
This is what I Like to see keeping it real !!!! hell yea !!! lol love it !!!! Be nice if there was one in Farmington New Mexico lol just saying???

Thanks for sharing. Very useful.
Good job as always. Thanks for your effort.
Thx for the video
Sehr schnelles und gutes jkd...mp jkd munich ❤
JKD ACADEMY OF MMA Sifu George Hajnasr
"I WILL ENTER" Sounds kinky. Also, only a sith speaks in absolutes.
Surely a person could move themselves out of range, or slip, or sidestep.
JKD ACADEMY OF MMA Sifu George Hajnasr yeah like Bruce Lee said it doesn't matter where it comes from you should always use it
what speed ,wow i am impressed
I enjoyed watching this video. I was wondering if you have a video about functionalizing your trapping skills. I have been studying JKD and Kali and love the empty hand aspects of both arts but, do not have a good feel for functionalizing the traps and the understanding of sectoring and forward pressure.
1:02 great job George
In TWC that is Tan sao and Lop Sao and Punch . Very Effective when Practice and become Second Nature . Good way to Defend oneself easy .
18:12 fantastic gentlemen 🐉☝️💯💥🤛
Doesn't matter how you call it, it's pure and simple normal Trapping!
Now th these are the real moves u see in " the big boss"
Good Job Thanks!
Not seen it this done well for a long time I’ve trained with a few of Bruce lee’s students here and America ☺️
this is EXPRESSING YOURSELF!
Good, good, good, good
Bruce Lee's jkd is of the intercepting fist. How to instinctively block an attack and counter it swiftly. Also jkd is supposed to get rid of unnecessary forms. I feel you guys have my your own jkd and don't teach the version that lee created.
SHADOW Son obviously you have no understanding of JKD’s five ways of attacK HIA .. thank you for comment
I said no number in my reply to your video. Quick to be defensive because you know I speak the truth. Your teaching jkd. Just not bruce Lee's jkd
The True Nature of JKD i don't even like to talk about
JKD is a necessity
Wow, I am. Impressed! Very fast!
13:15 that’s a slick one ☝️
Excelente video thank you sifu
27 ? I don't think Bruce Lee meant Jkd in this way...
JKD does contain trapping series , but it certainly isn't the backbone of the art as stated here. I learnt from Dan Inosanto so yes I do know.
Dude, You aren't creating gates. You are simply creating striking combinations.
😂😂 your funny Dude .. They are not strikes but your closed minded is COOL !! 😱😱
Very, very good
Will some reveal how to make the computer go into slow motion, so i can monitor the techniques better? Thank you.
The Cog on the bottom right of the video display allows you to control the speed.
Thank you good job
almost feels like im watching 2 lighting strikes going back in forth with that sound effects "skhsh" "skhsh" --- "skhsh" "skhsh" lol.
That you call "breath out" while you attack
Mr. sifu please show me different stances in jkd
People these are just drills thats all, nothing to argue about, now applying drills to a real live combat situation thats a whole different situation.
thank you
gracias muy buen video por favor comparte mas un saludo desde colombia
He is you son MAster? Thanks for lessons. One question? What is your lineage? Thanks and Kinlai!
Hot damn, I want to reach that level!
Okay this right here is slightly dangerous lol ...
That's why I warn against JKD
IT IS VERY DANGEROUS !
🤔🤔😂😂😂😂😂😂
Very good, very fast
Now thats real JKD ! very good sifu
Good job
Nice master
