Yeah, the wood was in great condition but I had to replace the leather. The stools had been stored in a barn among birds and rats. :( Used red leather, I think it goes well with the mahogany frames.
Yes, it is a fine color. It looks like what is called in English "ox blood." I'm not sure if you're familiar with the term. But in any case I think it's most appropriate for the Egyptian-inspired style.
Yeah, I think so. Guess it has to do with the word taburett, used in Sweden for these kind of stools. Back in the 18th century, Sweden had close connections to France and borrowed a lot of words from the French language.
That "milking stool" shape we call here in the states kidney shape. Yes, a very typical shape (1940's) seen on writing desks and dressing tables that normally had a fabric draped all around them with 2 arms that would swing out to open up the table to reveal shelves and drawers, and a stool, Very frilly so far from modern.
Yeah, we call the shape "njurformad" in Swedish. (Njure is the Swedish word for kidney.) Haha yes, we have a lot of those dressing tables in Sweden too.
Thanks so much for making these videos!🙂
Thank's a lot for your support!
Enjoy your new furniture pieces.
Thanks!
yes, they look like nice purchases. I hope they weren't too dear
The previous owner stored them in a barn among rats and birds. He wanted to get rid of them and we were eager to help him.
Hi Andreas... did you refinish these in any way? They look to be in fantastic condition.

Does Tenn use 'tabouret" to describe these? My dictionary says a 'cylindrical seat or stool (Meriam webster), Great vid as usual thanks 😎
