Love your beats man but I bought “hate me” exclusively about a week ago, and this is kinda copy paste from the original.
Feels kinda fucked up.
i’m sorry you feel that way, there are only a certain amount of ways you can make a beat, and especially on better luck next time midwxst was using this chord progression a lot, the VI V i, which is what i used on hate me parts 1 and 2, which is why they sound similar.
on part 2 i used different guitar techniques however, for the counter melodies i used palm muting to create a rhythm section and tapping to get a math rock inspired top line. for hate me pt 2 i also made the drop lead do a triplet pattern to counter the normal 4/4 time that the beat is in.
i wouldn’t call it fucked up personally, i understand why you’d think so. whenever a beat does well there’s a precedent to follow a similar formula for the next one , hence shotta flows all the way up to 6, or migos deadz and open it up, or with youtube producers ymar has done lammi pt 2 and pablomcr has done similar pooh shiesty beats to fit the market.
i hope this at least tells you my side, even if it’s not always apparent i’m doing things to experiment and build my sound while also catering to a niche. hate me pt 2 is definitely meant to be similar to part 1, but with different details like the addition of palm muted rhythm guitar and tapped guitar and a triplet lead to create a different bounce in the drop.
