In this video I show you how to creat a huge under gravel filter with thick course foams and lava rock on top as your source of media, inside a DIY planter pound (Approx 300L)
This project is perfect for fingerling KOI fry, because it aids huge vital benficial bacteria growth.
Once you take a fry out of established koi pond (KOI FARM) and throw it in sterile vat system with just a box filter you are running into problems straight away.
Useally pond filters aren't as big as the base of your pond, where you have a huge surface area that's being wasted by just having a clear based bottom.
I've seen fish keepers over the years ditch old methods, simply because of technology and filter advancements. I'm here to tell you today that's the reason they lose 99 percent of there koi fry at a hobbyists level...HOW CAN I IMPROVE THIS?
items used in this video are as followed...

Maintence: On this set up, sponges will need cleaning once a year, if your feeding heavily then every six months they would need doing.
You would also have to net your fish whilst maintence is preformed. The media must also be wash in tub using pond water.
