Some may know this but I just learned a swanky tip for embossing colored ink on dark cardstock from Marion Emberson. She has a “WOW embossing powder” channel that will blow your mind on what embossing powders can do. Anyway, on black cardstock first stamp with white ink, fry with heat tool, stamp over with your color of choice and emboss with clear. It was great ! She did an aqua color over back cardstock for an inside sentiment and it turned out great! Hope that was new to someone! Or I’m just way behind.
I've been watching her videos too! I've always hated how my white embossing powder was spotty. One thing Marion showed that really seemed to make for a smoother result on all embossing is to come in from the back to melt them.
Thanks Cathy- I’ve always used black ink with clear embossing powder instead of black powder; I never considered white ink with white powder! Game changer!
Already saw Gina K do that white pigment ink 👍, although, your test was amazing, what a difference, and that cleaningtip with that large one....priceless, thx so much 4 being you and your FAB channel 🥳😘
Oh Ginny this mini album is just out of this world precious. Makes me feel cooler just looking at it. Love the tailored look with all your beautiful borders. Thanks so much.
Very nice indeed! If any embellishments would be added, maybe blue! Those seemed to have a peach color, at least on the screen. Soon ready to try out my Lost Shadow, I’ve got a rubber background stamp that would look nice, I think. Your CZ Designs stamps are always wonderful, Cathy! 💌 🤍
Kathy, I have been stamping since the late 1980s - early 1990s. The company that makes Versa Mark made it to be a watermark ink for stamping watermarks on medium colored card stock. They did not originally make it to be an embossing ink. The original embossing ink was called Color Box. Now the company has changed the Color Box line over to the Versa Mark Claire line. Still excellent colored embossing inks and you can use them with clear powder which doubles your ink colors.😊
Ohhhh, love that history! I did not know that! So I was using it correctly back in the day! I remember Color Box as a line. I never had any of their inks but I do have a few Versafine Claire inks and they are amazing!
I always use white & white & black & black so I am happy to see you show it works better. Whatever you are doing Cathy, you look fabulous!! Thanks for all your videos.
I tried the white pigment ink with white EP and it's great! Thank you for the extra tip about cleaning off the stamp with a blending brush and stamp cleaner - who knew? YOU did! TFS all your tips and tricks, Cathy.
A lint roller is great for picking up powders and glitters that go astray. I only use extra fine white to get an even coat with text, it makes a big difference and yes to avoid losing powder heat from below to start. Chunkier white powders are great for sprinkling though, your material type and quality do matter contrary to what some will say. Fran from Stampendous is the Queen of "painting" with EP's and gas all kinds of fun tips and techniques. Her Frantage line has been around almost a decade. I highly suggest swatching every EP you own and get to know how they react and work on different surfaces and with different inks 😉.
Tonics stamp cleaning tools are barnone the best for all ink types, hard to explain just take my word. The material grips and gets ink out of even my most detailed large Lavinia stamps. Then simply rinse with water and it air drys! Great stuff!
Thank you, thank you Cathy! I’ve been heat embossing white embossing powder on black water colour paper. I was not getting a good expression at all. In the end I had to use no. 10 white gel roll pen to go over the whole image. Yes, I was pulling my hair out. Thanks to you for this tip. You have not only saved the remaining 30-xmas cards yet to finish…an of course the purchase of a wig!
I’ve always used pigment ink for embossing but I never stamped twice OR you can also stamp and re-emboss right over again, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that too! But I haven’t tried it yet. Good tips! Good video Cathy! Thx!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@@czdesign well the white pigment one you did looked great! I actually stoped embossing because I got so frustrated with it having holes or empty spots. We didn’t have powder back then either so I’m going to try again with all the new tips. You still make my favorite cards!
Looks like I will be buying some white pigment ink! That looks great and I've been having trouble trying to emboss. I'm new to it. Thanks for the cleaning tip, too!
So glad you tried it and you liked it. I've been using Gina's white pigment ink when I want a white heat embossing for years. She showed it once on a video and I was sold ever since. Really makes a big difference. Maybe don't press so hard when using the pressure tool and it won't be as 'thick'.
Two great tips! I like using white pigment ink when embossing, but had never seen a comparison like this, that was a cool experiment. I liked your stamp cleaning tip too, you're full or wonderful crafty wisdom! xoxo
WOW! Cathy. It’s a game changer for sure. I really liked the pigment ink one the best. Thank you for sharing. Have a lovely weekend with your family.❤️❤️❤️
I have used the old cat eye pigment inks from Colorbox with both clear and their own colors of powder for years. Just grabbed what was closest sometimes.
What a great idea! Here's a hack that I find incredibly helpful. If you have embossed a find image and have little areas that the embossing powder didn't stick, you can fill in the fine area with a fine tip pen (has to be one that the ink is slower in drying), apply embossing powder and heat. This works best for me with black and white embossing powder using black and white pens.
White pigment ink has been on my wish list for a while. I guess it's time to purchase it. Your sample using white ink shows more than a slight improvement. Thanks so much for sharing the results Cathy. Can't wait to try this.🌷🌷
Love this tip, Cathy - thank you so much. Learned a lot in that one video - white pigment ink works really well and a blending brush is great for cleaning stamps.
@@czdesign IKR!! I am always surprised by "the little things" that can make or break my success with my supplies - this is one of them. Thank you for showcasing this little thing! ❤️😘
I loved your experiment. I will definitely be trying this for myself. Gina has great inks so I feel I will not be disappointed. Thank you for sharing. xx
Thanks Kathy that was a super tip! I love embossing but not really getting the crisp finish. Now I will, thanks to you and you’re viewers! Really love appreciate all your videos!
Great look at this other possibility for white embossing! I don’t have Gina’s ink, but do have another. I’m gonna give this a try, thanks to your experiment! TFS, Cathy, you’re a good teacher on lots of art topics. 💌
Was going to emboss with a copper metallic ink today….first stamped with a terracotta color ink just in case, then Versamark, then the powder and it came out looking great. I plan to look for inks that match the various powders I have and put those down first, then Versamark
Definitely going to try the pigment ink for embossing now. Can’t believe how much better your results were! Fantastic tip! Thank you so much for showing this. I’m also gonna get a brush for stamp cleaning too.
Great card Cathy! Thanks for the reminder of using pigment ink for embossing! Love the tip about using one of our blender brushes to clean our stamp off instead of smearing white ink across the misty🤬 thank you!!!!!
Wow! I never would have thought of that and the results were definitely different even from the camera view. The white pigment was fatter but appeared much more filled in. Thanks for sharing. I will definitely try it out.
I love using pigment ink to emboss! I stamp whatever color I want and use clear embossing powder! That way I don't need to purchase every color of embossing powder under the sun!
Cathy you can also use a soft toothbrush for cleaning pigment ink. I use a flat head the kind you get free from the dentist after you get you teeth cleaned

I hope you meant dry 😆, I don't suggest frying the paper it smells bad and starts fires haha.
Thanks Cathy- I’ve always used black ink with clear embossing powder instead of black powder; I never considered white ink with white powder! Game changer!
I've rarely tried your idea! I should!

You are too kind!
I learned a really good tip that if you heat embossing powder from underneath you don’t get the bumpy effect that you get from heating on top. 🌻🌻
Ohhhh, I never knew that!
This comparison sure got me to thinking! What a difference the inks made!
I tried the white pigment ink with white EP and it's great! Thank you for the extra tip about cleaning off the stamp with a blending brush and stamp cleaner - who knew? YOU did! TFS all your tips and tricks, Cathy.

Do you know it's funny, even though I did this video I always forget to do white ink for my embossed white greeting! NEED TO remember. lol
@ I’ll nudge you from Canada!
Love the tip for cleaning pigment ink off the stamp! And I have a brush or two to designate for that purpose!
Wow! I haven't tried the white ink. That is fantastic. My favorite has been black (or any other color) pigment ink and clear embossing powder.

Wow... I am surprised. Thanks for sharing your experiment. I will start using my white pigment ink for embossing!!
Good luck!
Wow the pigment did look better. Thank you for the comparison interesting
Ok, I'm convinced! Pigment it is!!!
Wow! That definitely made a better impression. Thank you Kathy for the side by side comparison to show this.
Looks like I will be buying some white pigment ink! That looks great and I've been having trouble trying to emboss. I'm new to it. Thanks for the cleaning tip, too!
Would love to see you do this same thing with a thin/fine font sentiment to see if they blur
Will be trying! I have seen Gina K Designs do this with small sub sentiment greetings!
Thanks for this. I used the pigment ink trick, because I watched this. Improved my sentiments immediately.
Wonderful!
Oh yeah! Pigment ink is definitely the winner with the white pigment. Thanks for the tip! MaryLisa
Who would have thought, this was enlightening. Tyfs

Yes, I thin I pressed too hard on it. I won't give up on Versarmark, but maybe this is the best fit for white powder on dark surfaces!

Thanks, Cathy, for the comparing white embossing powder with inks!
I have used the old cat eye pigment inks from Colorbox with both clear and their own colors of powder for years. Just grabbed what was closest sometimes.
Great experiment! Awesome
Great tip, Cathy! Hope I remember it when I go to emboss something!
Great tip Cathy! Thanks for sharing! ❤🙂
Great test!! Thanks Cathy. So, looks like I need some Gina K white pigment ink and that SSS stamp cleaner. 👏👏👏
Lol! Well they are great products!
The pigment ink is awesome. Thank you for this tip.
Great ideas, Cathy! Thank you!!
Gold and silver pigment ink and clear embossing powder is amazing.
Oh, I have never tried it!
Thanks for showing us that ! Great experiment.👍
Wow! I am so going to have to try this out. I have a brand new Gina K white pigment ink pad that I haven't even opened up yet. Perfect timing.
Have fun!
Thanks for the great hack Cathy!!
There was definitely a difference using the white ink, crisper and thicker!! ❤️

Thank you Cathy! ❤️👏🏻❤️ I never would have thought of that and especially not for white embossing!
Same here! I'm going to be playing with my white pigment ink more!

Great to know! TFS!!!
Thank you! This demonstration was VERY helpful!
I always forget to do this!!! The difference is shocking!! Thank you !!!
Great experiment! I'm sold. I also love the cleaning tip :)
Thanks. Using the pigment ink is something I need reminding of! The cleaning hack was great!
Glad it was helpful!
This works great with gold pigment ink & gold embossing powder.
I love experiments! Great video!!
Awesome tip! Going to test mine too! 🎉🎉🎉
I loved your experiment. I will definitely be trying this for myself. Gina has great inks so I feel I will not be disappointed. Thank you for sharing. xx
Great Demo! Cool results.
Great tips Cathy!
Gold pigment ink with gold powder looks so great.
I’ve been using pigment ink for embossing for decades, never gave it a thought that it was unusual I guess!
Great experiment! I am surprised by the side-by-side!!! Thanks for sharing!
You convinced me! Thanks, Cathy. What a difference!
Great tips! Thanks for sharing Cathy! :)
I just tried this Cathy - I'm sold with the new method!!! Thank you!!
Wonderful!
Really makes a big difference! Thanks for sharing your experiment. Wow
Thanks for watching!
Wow! It makes so much sense to use white pigment ink in this situation. Thank you for the demonstration!
I have been waiting for a video like this, thank you Cathy.
Thanks Kathy that was a super tip! I love embossing but not really getting the crisp finish. Now I will, thanks to you and you’re viewers! Really love appreciate all your videos!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, who would have known?! Looks amazing 👏
What a wonderful tip, thanks.
Thanks Cathy - I had no idea you could use embossing powder with white pigment ink! I’m going to play with that today!
Thank you for sharing this tip!
Nice to see the comparison. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Hope you do more of these. Great to see the difference in products and how to use them. 😍
Great look at this other possibility for white embossing! I don’t have Gina’s ink, but do have another. I’m gonna give this a try, thanks to your experiment! TFS, Cathy, you’re a good teacher on lots of art topics. 💌

So smart!
You are correct. The control is the versamark and the on-test is the white pigment ink. You have completed a DOE (Design of Experiment)...science. 😄
Thanks for that!
Yes! Great tips!! Thanks so much Kathy!
Great tip! Thanks so much.
Thanks Cathy - I am never happing when I use embossing powder, so will have to try this.
I love that powder tool from Taylored Expressions!
Me, too!
Great tip . Thank you.
Thanks so much, Cathy, for showing what a difference the white pigment ink makes with embossing white on bright/dark paper!
Cathy - Thank you for the test comparison! I had forgotten about this. TYFS 💕
Cathy you can also use a soft toothbrush for cleaning pigment ink. I use a flat head the kind you get free from the dentist after you get you teeth cleaned
I’m not sure the white holds the powder better, but it sure gives you white to show through any blank specks vs the color of the card stock.
Yes, that's my thinking!
Thanks. Exactly what I needed to know
Thanks for doing the work for us! 😊❤️
A great tutorial! I’ll have to try this method also!
Great tip, Cathy! Can’t wait to this technique.
Thanks, that was great
I will have to try the cleaning hack. Stamping and embossing are mysterious to me. Thanks for some clarification!
I never white emboss because it’s always blotchy. I definitely need to try this!
WOW, that's amazing, thank you
That’s fantastic!
