"It was a Roman salute!!!"
"... that's what a Naht-Zee would say..."
Nazis conveniently forget that the Romans killed Jesus Christ
why are you censoring yourself, you can say nazi
Specifically since that Roman was a painting in modern times, the Roman's didn't salute like that
I understood that reference
This
"Oh, boy... Nazis."
That delivery could not be more perfect... Like forcing a veteran to relive Vietnam.
What i wanna know is, would he have gone and killed those two with the 88 and iron cross if the rest weren't revealedto be nazis? He mumbles at them but doesn't draw arms straight away
@@mothmanafterdark5924he was already suspicious of their tats and choice of uniform. Seeing flag just gave him confirmation he needed.

You can tell he’s thinking “well fuck I liked you but now you gotta die”
I always read it as GI being so disappointed in his friend. The person who showed him compassion and friendship but can’t abide by their life choices like this.

“Oh boy. Nazis.”
I feel like normally, he would’ve sounded and been way more excited, but it was his friend he had to kill. He had no problem doing it, but you can hear the disappointment in his voice
That's why he took him out first, to rip that bandaid off.
Honestly I didn’t hear anything other than excitement.
There's a thing that makes Jame Gunn a great adapter of comics, he understands that comics are weird and that despite the weirdness there's still a humanity. Excited to see him do Superman.
That's an excellent way to put it, its why Guardians and his Suicide Squad were successful in my book.
You make a good point. I think another way of looking at it is like this: No matter how fantastical the world of superheroes seems to the viewer, James Gunn understands that the world is real to the characters living in it (If that makes sense) And thus allows us to experience that realness alongside them.
Why does guy gardener look like simple jack?
@@Bob-ti3uq Because thats just how old school Guy looked.
That’s exactly it he’s able to inject that humanity into them while still having them be weird without it dissolving into slapstick comedy
I think what really strikes me is that his flashbacks to WWII here aren’t about killing Nazis. It’s about joyful, relaxed moments and the downtime he had with his squad. When he was the most PART of something and truly belonged. Killing Nazis isn’t just his coding. In many ways, what sentience he gained associates it that joy and sense of belonging. You can tell by his language that it’s not just a task for him. He’s genuinely absorbed Easy Company’s disgust and grudges as well as the wartime us vs. them mentality. And he will always side with the values and bonds from the Company. It all calls back to how his one real desire is to kill Nazis with his brothers. In some ways, it’s heartbreaking because (of the backstories revealed so far) he’s one of the few members of the team who had somewhere they truly belonged but can never get back to.
He sorta learned to associate Killing Nazis with friendship. His greatest moments in life are with his friends, and a big part of that life was Killing Nazis. Its about Nostalgia. Thats why he wants new friends to enjoy his beautiful hobby with him.
@@Gamer_G33k If that’s the case, I would spend every second with GI doing his favorite thing.
There's actually a word for just that. Hiraeth. A deep sense of longing for a home that either never existed, or no longer exists. Which you can no longer return to.
Gi robot really does a fantastic job of showing how some people never can find the same sense of belonging they had in the military in the outside world.
What's interesting is they all seemed to have somewhere they belonged, and they all lost it. Bride had Doc, Weasel had the kids, Phospherous had his family.
Bride was in a band.
For an avid collector of military items the guy REALLY didn't do his research on G.I.
“Let me bring this war hero who’s fought in ww2 and has been programmed with a great urge to kill nazis to a group of people that idolize and mimic nazi ideas…what’s the worst that can happen?” - an idiot who gets shot in the face
Yeah I know this is a cartoon and everything.... but when you think about that it sorta falls apart. Don't we think these guys would know exactly what GI robot is?
@@patrick4662 To be fair, Neo Nazis aren't great a understanding history. They wouldn't be Neo-Nazis if they were.
@@patrick4662 I think he was delusional. He genuinely believed that him and G.I shared the same dream "Make this country a better place"
It’s more of a delusion that GI could be persuaded to join them. The amount of emotional dissonance some neo Nazis can create in thinking themselves as “patriotic Americans” is truly astonishing. They don’t think GI would oppose them because they think he defends America and therefore would agree with their version of “defending America”. It’s possibly that they delusional also believed convincing GI, a public ally known opponent of the nazi party, to join their side could legitimize them in some way.

“32 human beings” is stretching it a bit. Lmao 🤣
Yeah, i wouldnt called them human,
Nazis forfeit their human rights when they want to strip the human rights of others.
In their language, they prefer to be classified as “untermensch” or maybe schweinehund
sadly, nazism is distinctly human. It's always important to remember that the evil in any world isn't some scary inhuman thing, but the very real humans who believe in ideologies that say there is something inherently inhuman about Those People Over There, of which nazism is among the worst.
Still, GI Robot had the right of it.
That’s what a nazi would say
I was almost entirely watching the show for gi robot. Seeing him finally find a friend, a calm and peaceful life, only for that friend turn out to be a nazi? And that quiet “oh”, as he realized that his “friend”, and every person in that room, is already dead? A small moment of remorse before a small act of mercy, killing the one that took him in first so he has the least time to panic? And how afterwards he was once again forgotten about and left to rust for eternity, as the last soldier of a war that he doesn’t really know is over? And then he finally finds that war again, and friends to fight it with, for a few short moments of bliss, only to finally be destroyed himself? Fucking heartbreaking, god damn. Gi robot carried the show for me ngl. Don’t even know if I’m going to keep watching without him.

The war against nazis is certainly not over. They survived thanks to operation paperclip, West Germany stopping their trials and giving them positions in the government, catholic church smuggling them to South America, etc.
They lost militarily, but ideologically they won and infiltrated the highest positions in society.
